Today, it was unexpectedly humid, so I decided to go for "zaru soba" and ended up at this place. It's near the Chinese restaurant I went to yesterday, but today I chose the pattern of going well on the way there but being scared on the way back. However, I didn't want to arrive at the restaurant all sweaty and lose my appetite, so maybe this pattern is better. I arrived at the restaurant around 12:50 PM. There were about 5 groups of customers already there, but the restaurant was relatively spacious so there was no problem finding a seat. I looked at the menu on the table and decided to order the parent and child bowl set with a large serving of soba. The parent and child bowl set was priced at ¥950 including tax, and the large serving was an additional ¥100, making the total ¥1050. The order arrived in about 10 minutes. The soba didn't have a strong presence, but the large serving size was decent. The egg in the parent and child bowl had a slightly unusual texture, not as creamy as expected, and the meat was not very visible. I started eating the soba. It was your typical moretsuyu soba. However, it was quite soft and lacked firmness, with a weak chewy texture. The soba itself was cold, which was good. The dipping sauce had a strong bonito flavor, which was unusual but not bad. As I was eating the soba, a large container of soba broth was brought to me. When I opened it, I saw that it was quite full, but the concentrated part seemed to have settled at the bottom. Before moving on to the parent and child bowl, I decided to try the soba broth. The first sip tasted like plain hot water, with a weak soba flavor. In the meantime, I continued eating the parent and child bowl. The egg had a slightly different texture, not bad but not great either. The egg layer felt a bit dry. The rice had absorbed quite a bit of the broth, and there was a decent amount of chicken in the bowl. The rice was simply delicious. I ended up finishing all the soba broth, which turned out to be quite rich and flavorful in the end. Overall, ordering a set meal with a large serving would give you a satisfying amount of food. This traditional soba restaurant in town is probably struggling due to family management issues, so the overall dining experience may feel a bit lacking.

I visited Higeya in March 2023. There is a parking lot next to the store, but it is difficult to park near the intersection. I managed to park and entered the restaurant, which had a nice atmosphere with a sense of history. I ordered the Tempura Soba, which was served in less than 10 minutes. The noodles were long and had a good texture, with shredded seaweed adding a nice touch. The broth was medium-thick and slightly sweet, with toppings of green onions, grated radish, and wasabi. The tempura was served without tempura dipping sauce or salt, but instead with soba dipping sauce. The crispy fried shrimp was delicious and a decent size. The complimentary soba-yu (hot soba water) was plentiful and tasted great when mixed with the dipping sauce.

I love the restaurant To-ka-bo-cha and it's been a while since I last visited. It's been a year since I last visited the Hassamu branch (laughs). The parking lot here is really hard to get into, so I usually avoid coming in the winter. But before I knew it, it's already autumn? If I didn't come today, I might have ended up waiting until next year (laughs). I was a bit indecisive about my order, but I ended up choosing the mountain vegetable grated soba priced at 700 yen. Oh! What was I indecisive about? Well, I wanted to make sure it was something different from what I had before (laughs). I definitely didn't eat the same thing as last time, I checked my past posts (laughs). It was served in just over 5 minutes. So, here we go, let's dig in! By the way, mountain vegetables... they taste pretty much the same no matter where you eat them, right? I wonder if they're all from the same supplier? I can't tell the difference (laughs). Anyway, the taste was "just delicious" as usual. I wish there was a bit more daikon radish. Thanks for the meal! Next time, what should I eat? I'll come back before the snow falls, haha.

I had been thinking of visiting this place for a while, but finally made it. It was past 2 pm, so there were no other customers. I asked about the parking before entering. The interior of the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Without even looking at the menu, I ordered the "Atsumori" Kashiwaseiro as mentioned in a review. The dish was served promptly. It had been a while since I had morekawa soba. I tried a bite of the soba first. It was a bit soft, I think? Then I dipped it in the dipping sauce. Hmm, it was a bit salty (spicy) for my taste. The amount of soba was just right, and I didn't get tired of eating it. The soba broth was on the thin side. Overall, it was a good deal at 650 yen. Next time, I'll try the curry tsukemen.

Recently, I've been eating a lot of set meal ramen, so I decided to switch it up and try some soba this time. I visited this place, which had a local feel and seemed to be a favorite spot for the locals. I was quite hungry, so I ordered the katsudon set. Normally, at other places I've been to, the katsudon portion is for one person and the soba is about half a portion, so I ordered expecting the same here. However, both the katsudon and soba came in full portions, which caught me off guard. I was a bit worried if I could finish it all. The katsudon had a unique finishing touch, more like katsudon with an egg on top. It was quite different, but in a good way. The flavor was also unique, hard to describe. I recommend trying it. As for the soba, the broth was delicious but the soba itself, although I could tell it was more Soba, lacked a bit of flavor. It felt like I was eating some other type of noodle. I managed to finish it all, so that was good. I would definitely like to come back for the katsudon again.

This is the usual Tokiya-san. This time, I visited the Hassamu store. It was crowded with customers on this day, and the parking lot was even more difficult to park in (laughs). I ordered the cold tempura soba for 850 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. It was surprisingly luxurious! (@_@) Well then, let's dig in! The tempura included shrimp, eggplant, shiso, green pepper, and chrysanthemum... and "pumpkin"! Is it worth the price? It is! The tempura was crispy and the cold fine-cut soba was refreshing. I am very satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal today! I wonder what I should eat next time. I will visit again soon. (^^)/

I visited the Hakkai store for the first time in a while, at the request of my wife who loves it. We usually don't come here in the winter due to parking issues. But with the suggestion of "Isn't it about time?" we decided to visit. The order was for the chicken soba for 650 yen, which is quite cheap. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The chicken was tender and there was plenty of chopped green onions. The soba noodles were thin and there was a generous amount. It was delicious as always. I wonder what I'll eat next time? I'll definitely visit again soon.

The swaying white noren at the entrance is impressive. The interior of the restaurant still retains the Showa era atmosphere in the present Reiwa era, with seating arrangements consisting of three tatami tables to the right of the entrance, and three sets of 4-person tables in the center. The menu includes various set meals under 1000 yen, with soba set meals being popular, but it seems that the curry is a favorite. The curry soba is particularly intriguing. The parking lot is located behind the restaurant, but it may be a bit difficult to find... Once you get used to the timing of the traffic lights, parking should be fine. I visited around 4 pm on a holiday. There was one customer already seated. I ordered soba and was informed that they were currently making the noodles. I was asked to wait for about 15 minutes, to which I happily agreed. Freshly made soba noodles are always a delight. However, the noodles were served in just over 10 minutes. The mountain of white, thin soba noodles served in a steamer was quite long. I dipped the soft soba noodles in the dashi broth flavored with bonito flakes and enjoyed the texture as I slurped them up. The soba noodles were more about savoring the texture and crispness rather than the flavor. Although there was a casual dining feel to the place, the service provided by the apron-clad staff was delightful. The casual conversations with regular customers and the gesture of seeing me off outside the restaurant added to the charm. The roots of this restaurant, known as "Matsubai Igeta no Higashie" are detailed in a review by "kunoccho" from March 2017, which I recommend reading for more information. However, after reading the review, I realized that I had misunderstood and lacked knowledge. I received a comment from "kunoccho" himself and made corrections accordingly. It seems that "Higashi Ichi" or "Matsubai Igeta" are not the correct names. I tried to trace the lineage from a review of "Higashie Honeten" by "tabesugi futorisugi," but I couldn't figure it out on my own. However, by looking for similar noren patterns, I found "Higashie Kitago" or "Sapporo Idaigaku Mae Higashie." The guidance provided by the comments helped me connect the dots. The wide variety of Hokkaido soba at "Higashie" is truly fascinating. I still can't get the curry soba out of my mind. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch was at Higashiya Hassamu's Azumaie Hassamu store. This place does not have a parking lot, so if you come by car, be careful. The appearance and interior have a very exciting atmosphere, like a traditional soba restaurant. After being seated, I ordered the "kashiwa seiro" (large portion of soba) from the menu. Later, I discovered the curry tsukemen on the menu posted on the wall, but it was too late... I decided to save the curry tsukemen for next time. I heard that three groups of customers had already ordered the kashiwa seiro, confirming its popularity. I became even more excited. The meal arrived in less than 10 minutes. I really love the aroma of the dipping sauce for the soba. The soba noodles are "sarasen" variety. They are a bit less firm, but very refreshing, so I realized that ordering a large portion was the right choice. The dipping sauce, unique to seiro, pairs perfectly with the soba noodles. All of this for 650 yen is a great deal. If this restaurant were within walking distance of my workplace, I would definitely come here at least three times a week.

"Tokoya Hassamu-ten" ... This is a revisit at the request of my wife, and it seems to have become a favorite (laughs). The weather was strange that day and suddenly got cold, so we decided to order warm soba. I had curry soba, while my wife had plain soba with one shrimp tempura topping. Two shrimp tempura would be too much, apparently because of our age (laughs). It was ready in about 7-8 minutes. Let's dig in! The curry broth had a good amount of spice and a hint of acidity, making it delicious. The meat was chicken, which I prefer over pork in curry soba. The soba noodles were plentiful, even with a regular serving. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the delicious food! Maybe next time I'll try the curry rice that I've been curious about... well, I already had curry soba, so maybe it's fine (laughs).

I love soba noodles, and I visited this place at the request of my kabocha-loving wife. The parking lot here is a bit tricky in terms of space and positioning, but I managed to park using my skills. I recommend a compact car if you plan to visit (laughs). The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a sense of history. The menu is affordable, which I really like. I ordered grated soba noodles with one shrimp tempura topping, while my wife ordered regular soba noodles with one shrimp tempura topping. It's great that they offer these toppings. The soba noodles are from Higashiya, so they are thin and have a good texture. The dipping sauce is a standard type that would appeal to most people - not too strong or sweet. The shrimp tempura had a slightly crispy coating, which would be better with warm soba noodles. Overall, it was delicious. My wife is already eyeing the curry rice here, so we'll have to come back for that next time!

I have been neglecting this shop while busy with BM, but finally visited. The parking lot is located next to the shop, but it's a bit tricky to enter from the intersection. The interior has a historic atmosphere. Prices seem to have slightly increased for some items. The menu offers both kake (dipping) and mori (served on top) soba for 500 yen. Before the tax increase, it was 480 yen. I decided to order the curry rice set, which is priced the same as the katsu curry set at 950 yen. The curry had crunchy onions and seemed to be a traditional type with thick consistency. It wasn't very spicy. The katsu was a bit thin and slightly overcooked. The kake soba came with chopped green onions and tenkasu. The dipping sauce was strong in flavor and served hot. The soba noodles were thin and slightly soft, probably better suited for cold dipping sauce. Both dishes were filling. (Oct 2019)

This place was located on the street I always pass by. It's hard to find, and the parking lot is also difficult to locate. However, judging from the name, it seems like an established restaurant. I decided to go in. It looks like a place where locals in the neighborhood casually visit. An old man came in and ate in a normal way. The interior of the restaurant definitely gives off a sense of history. I ordered the Mori Soba for 480 yen, and it also came with tempura flakes! I like my soba noodles thin like the Sasa variety. The broth had a good balance of sweetness that I enjoyed. Despite being reasonably priced, the food here is authentic. Many soba restaurants don't provide wet towels, but this place had them, which left a good impression on me. The wet towel even had an advertisement on it, so it might be a temporary thing, but I appreciate having it. Some restaurants don't even provide napkins. If they had a few more parking spots, I would definitely come back. It was delicious - thank you for the meal!

It's been a while since I visited "Higashiya," a small soba restaurant in Sapporo. I arrived around 2 pm and there was only one customer inside. The waitress brought me some water as I sat down at a table near the entrance. I ordered the "Mori Soba" for 480 yen. The soba noodles were served in a small but satisfying portion. The flavor was traditional and the dipping sauce had a nice balance of saltiness and bonito flavor. The soba broth was light and aromatic. Overall, I found the quality of the soba to be good, especially considering the affordable price. The restaurant was quiet and I enjoyed my meal in peace. I will definitely consider visiting again in the future.

On a certain weekday, I had lunch at a soba restaurant in Nishi-ku, Hassamu, which I had been checking out for a while. The parking lot is located right behind the restaurant, but it seems like you have to be careful about the size of your car if you want to park there. The interior of the restaurant has a historical feel, with 6 tables and 3 tables on a raised tatami floor, and there are plenty of manga comic books available. The background music is the TV playing a daytime variety show. On this day, I was drawn to a set menu item that I noticed as soon as I sat down, and I decided to try the "Katsu Curry Set (900 yen)" with "cold soba". And now, taking a bite... The soba is a white Somen type, and despite being a set, it has a generous portion that has a nice chewy texture. The dipping sauce has a familiar sweetness and a rich dashi flavor, with a hint of saltiness and garnished with green onions and fried tempura bits. Next, the Katsu Curry set also had a substantial portion, with a high ratio of curry sauce which was appreciated. The flavor was homely, with a hint of the dipping sauce adding depth, and there was no spiciness with visible onions. The katsu was cooked fresh upon ordering, with a satisfying size and thickness. Finally, I finished with a hot and clear soba broth. This soba restaurant is perfect for casual dining, although personally, I found the slightly difficult parking situation to be a bit of a concern. Thank you for the meal.

This is a restaurant review for a soba restaurant located at the intersection of JR Hassamu-Chuo Station in Nishi-ku, Sapporo, and Shinkotoni Street. I visited the restaurant by car in heavy snowfall and had trouble finding the parking lot. Since lunchtime was already over, there was only one group of customers inside. Due to feeling the effects of heavy drinking the previous day, I had heartburn. I initially thought of ordering the regular soba, but then noticed a menu item called "natto soba". It was my first time trying natto soba at this restaurant, and it came with soba noodles topped with natto, cucumber, seaweed, a hot spring egg, and pickled ginger. The soba noodles were the usual white moretsu style, with a slightly soft texture but good bite and smoothness. The broth was strong and slightly sweet, so you may need to add more to fully enjoy the flavor. The meal also came with soba water and a soba cup, which was a nice touch for this type of topping style dish (especially with natto).
