This month's second food adventure was at "Kaisen Sakaba Sendo", where I had the "Soup Curry" with a half-boiled egg on top for lunch. There are 9 types of lunch soup curry to choose from, and without hesitation, I chose the Soup Katsu Curry. I selected a spiciness level of 7, which is very spicy, and opted for a regular serving of rice (250g) with an extra topping of a half-boiled egg. The spiciness level ranges from 1 (mild) to 10 (extremely spicy), with levels 8 and above incurring an additional charge. The rice portion can vary from a small serving (150g) to a large serving (600g), with a regular serving (250g) being free of charge. For students, a large serving of rice (up to 400g) is free. The soup curry is served in a hot stone pot, with a broth made from a combination of shrimp and chicken bones, providing a rich flavor of shrimp sweetness and chicken umami, along with a good amount of spiciness. The level 7 spiciness was quite intense, making me break a sweat gradually, which I personally found to be the perfect level of spiciness. The dish also includes a variety of vegetables such as pumpkin, carrots, broccoli, and 8 other types, along with plenty of mushrooms. The katsu (deep-fried cutlet) was thick, juicy, and tender. It had been about 4 years since my last visit to this place. From 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, the restaurant operates as a soup curry shop, and since it's also an izakaya (Japanese pub), even if you're dining alone, you can relax in a private table in a sunken kotatsu seating. There is parking space in front of the restaurant, but it can be a hassle to retrieve your car, so it's recommended to use the paid parking lot right next to the restaurant. If you get a stamp on your parking ticket at the restaurant, you can get 1 hour of parking for free.
