2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. The lunch ma po tofu is very popular here, so maybe that's the pricing standard? Bloggers often report on the lunch, but I think it's important to evaluate the full course dinner to give a proper review. The chef used to work at a famous Gion restaurant, and the food is amazing! The Sichuan-style dishes are on the milder side, which I really like. Located in Minamimori-cho, this Chinese restaurant is one of the top 100 recommended places. I was curious about it, so I decided to try their lunch menu which is reasonably priced at around 1,100 yen. The dinner prices are higher, so I opted for lunch first. I heard their mapo tofu was delicious, so I ordered that. The mapo tofu came in a hot pot with a large round chili on top, and it was piping hot. It reminded me of another restaurant called "Hon Hon Hou Hou" in Ibaraki City. Apparently, the chef here trained at a Chinese restaurant in Gion, Kyoto, just like the chef at Hon Hon Hou Hou. I couldn't help but compare the two. The mapo tofu at Hon Hon Hou Hou is spicier with a good balance of sweetness and spiciness. On the other hand, the mapo tofu at Shin Kou had a gentle flavor with a unique nutty aroma. The minced meat was chunky and had a nice texture. Some reviews mentioned that it was quite spicy, but I found it to be milder compared to other places like "Rakuda" in Kyoto. Perhaps the level of spiciness varies depending on the chef or individual taste buds. Overall, the side dish of fried firefly squid and vegetables was also delicious with a light saltiness. I imagine they have many creative and tasty dishes on their dinner menu as well.

Hello everyone❗ Today's lunch is at Tenma restaurant❗ I have passed by this place many times, but this time I decided to try it for lunch before going to the barber shop on my day off❗ I was really drawn to the Shark Fin Clay Pot Rice because of its good cost performance, but I decided to go with the Sichuan Mapo Tofu lunch set for ¥1200❗ The side dish was a cold spicy salad with young chicken and vegetables. The spiciness of the Mapo Tofu was like level 6-7 at CoCo Ichibanya, very spicy but delicious❗ The side dish was also spicy, but the soup and pickles helped to cool down the heat. The delicious spiciness of this dish is addictive❗ I can imagine that the Shark Fin Clay Pot Rice must be really delicious too, so I'll try it next time❗ It was so tasty❗ Thank you for the meal❤️

I visited during the usual opening hours and there were already 6-7 people waiting! I managed to get in on the first round. I ordered the mapo tofu lunch I was looking forward to. The appetizer soup was gentle and delicious. The daily side dish was curry-flavored fried dumplings. The filling was juicy and tasty. The main dish, mapo tofu, was served in a hot clay pot. Just the smell alone made me want to eat! It had just the right amount of spiciness and went well with rice. I had seconds of rice and finished my meal feeling full! I definitely want to come back when I'm in the area again!

First visit. I was really torn between ordering the mapo tofu lunch, but since I wasn't in the mood for something spicy, I decided to go with the daily special lunch instead. The interior of the restaurant had an elegant atmosphere with a wine cellar, so I thought maybe you could enjoy wine and Chinese cuisine in the evening... The daily special on this day was crispy fried pork loin and a Jilin-style chili sauce stir-fry with onions, scallions, bitter melon, wood ear mushrooms, and potatoes. The side dishes included crispy fried smelts and sweet potatoes, and the soup was a daikon and wakame seaweed egg soup. I started with the soup, which had a rich flavor and I felt like I could drink multiple bowls of it haha. The chili sauce stir-fry main dish was delicious with plenty of vegetables and crispy pork, it was a great combination. Next time, I want to try the mapo tofu or the shark fin clay pot rice. I also thought it would be nice to come back for dinner someday. Thank you for the meal.

One Saturday, my wife and I went out separately in the morning, so we decided to meet up in the afternoon near Minami-Senju for lunch. We chose to have lunch at a restaurant that I had bookmarked in advance. When we arrived around 1 pm on a Saturday, there was only one table available so we were seated right away. There was a Chinese family group as the previous customers, so I had high hopes for the food (laughs). The lunch set included white rice, mapo tofu, oil-drizzled chicken, egg soup, and some side dishes (I'm sorry, I couldn't identify what they were). It was quite a hearty meal. Feeling like it might not be enough, we also ordered one crab miso xiaolongbao each. The mapo tofu had a good balance of spiciness and sweetness from the large chunks of ground meat. The oil-drizzled chicken was juicy and delicious. I thought I could taste a hint of cilantro, giving it a slightly ethnic flavor. The egg soup was thick and stayed hot until the last spoonful. The additional crab miso xiaolongbao was a delight with the combination of crab miso and meat juice lingering in the mouth even after eating. The total cost was around 1700 yen per person, including the xiaolongbao, so I was very satisfied. I would definitely revisit this restaurant if I'm in the area again.

If you want to eat mapo tofu in Osaka, you can't go wrong here. The saltiness, spiciness, and numbness are just right. The side dishes like oil-drizzled chicken and soup that come with it for just over 1000 yen are too good of a deal. I definitely want to try the night dish or the shark fin hot pot as well.

To my favorite Kokoro-san♪●Mapo tofu set meal ¥1430 (¥1200 on weekdays)・Ebi mayo・Donabe mapo tofu・Pickles, rice, soup. When you go on Saturdays, the side dish is ebi mayo. I arrived at the restaurant just after it opened at 11:30. I was the second customer. Soon after, more customers started coming in and the place was almost full. I was considering ordering a shrimp dish, but I decided to go with the classic lunch option of mapo tofu. The meal started with a delicious soup made with vegetable scraps, which got me excited. Next, I had a pork shabu salad. It was quite impressive for the price of 1200 yen. Finally, after rice and pickles, the mapo tofu arrived in a pot. The lid was on, but I could already smell the fragrance of Sichuan pepper. The staff removed the lid and revealed the bright red mapo tofu. I was a bit worried about the spiciness, but it turned out to be just right. It had a bit of a kick, but it was manageable. There was a piece of red chili pepper in the middle to adjust the color and spiciness, but I was told it wasn't very tasty. Since it was slightly spicy, I asked for an extra serving of rice. I thought maybe this was the secret to its popularity at 1200 yen. As I was leaving, it suddenly started raining, but they even lent me an umbrella. It was truly an impressive experience at this restaurant. The shark fin rice that the customer at the next table was having also looked delicious. I definitely want to come back again.

Sichuan mapo tofu set meal for 1200 yen, and Chinese simmered rockfish for about 3500 yen. I was recommended to try the rockfish caught that morning, so I decided to order it. It was quite a lot for one person, but the rockfish was cut in a way that made it easy to eat, and the fat was rich and flavorful. The mapo tofu wasn't too spicy and was easy to eat. The side dishes of shrimp mayo and potato mayo were also delicious, on par with the main dishes.

I finally had the opportunity to try the shark fin stewed rice in a clay pot that I had been curious about for a long time. I waited in line for about 10 minutes. It's quite popular! And finally, the long-awaited shark fin stewed rice in a clay pot arrived. It was bigger than I expected and got me excited! It was piping hot! The Heart Scented Meal, which can only be reserved on weekdays, costs over 5000 yen and includes 9 exquisite dishes along with a clay pot rice with shark fin. Each dish is of high quality and will leave you impressed, so I highly recommend it. Regular lunch cannot be reserved, so there is usually a line. Next time, I will try the mapo tofu!

"Next to Nishi-Tenma Park in Minamimori-cho is the Chinese restaurant "Shinka." It was selected as one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants in 2023 and has a rating of 3.70 on Tabelog. Their famous dish is Mapo Harusame, but since I don't like spicy food, I always go for the daily special. I have been here many times, and everything I've tried has been delicious. At 11:40 am, there were 3 groups of customers at the entrance. For lunch, you can choose from the daily specials A or B, which include Mapo Tofu. The price is 1200 yen tax included. They also offer a reservation-only dish, Fukahire Nitsuke Donabe Gohan, starting from 3000 yen. The daily special A includes bacon and vegetable egg white soup, steamed rice, pickles, and salad, as well as pork, daikon, bean sprouts, and takana stir-fried noodles with sauce (rice refill available). They accept PayPay for payment. The soup here is always thick and piping hot, with a gentle flavor. It's interesting to see squid legs in the salad. The generous portion of stir-fried noodles with sauce is piping hot, packed with vegetables, and incredibly delicious. I visited this restaurant for lunch for the first time. I recognized it quickly because there are many dining options in the park nearby where I have been before. It was a little after 12:05, and there were two empty seats so I was seated right away. After two more groups arrived, there was a line, but it started to clear up by 1:00. There were many office workers, two housewives, and solo diners. It seems like a new restaurant as there were celebratory flowers at the entrance. I would like to try the yakisoba lunch next time as it looked delicious.

The restaurant had a calm atmosphere with dim lighting. It was not crowded when I arrived on a Saturday at 11:30 am. The meal was a good deal and tasted delicious.

I visited Kokoro in Minamisenju for lunch for the first time. I arrived around 1 pm and was seated immediately. I ordered the Szechuan mapo tofu set meal. The mapo tofu, served in a clay pot, was topped with two whole lantern peppers, creating a striking visual impact. The spiciness was present but not as intense as it appeared, with a strong umami flavor. The dish had a generous amount of minced meat, which added to the overall flavor. The side dish that came towards the end was shrimp mayo, which had a unique richness and flavor that complemented the spiciness well. However, I must mention a small issue. When I arrived, there were empty tables but no staff in sight, so I had to walk to the kitchen area to get their attention. Later, I realized that the staff member responsible for the dining area was secluded in a room between the kitchen and the entrance. This led to confusion when new customers arrived, as we had to inform the staff each time. It was a bit off-putting and made me reconsider returning for dinner, despite the appealing a la carte menu. I hope this was just a one-time occurrence. Apologies for focusing more on the service than the food in this review. Thank you for the meal.

You can enjoy a high-class atmosphere and have a reasonably priced lunch here. While it may not be an everyday dining spot for dinner due to higher prices, the lunch menu offers great value. I wanted to eat delicious mapo tofu, so I visited Chin Saisin (Chugoku Saisin) for the first time. The address of Chin Saisin is 5-6-26 Nishi-Temma, Kita-ku, Osaka City, a 5-minute walk from the Osaka Metro "Minamimorimachi" station. The owner of the restaurant was a head chef at a famous Chinese restaurant in Kyoto's Gion, and the restaurant was selected as one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants by Tabelog in 2023. I arrived at the restaurant a little after 12 pm. Closed on Mondays. Business hours: [Lunch] 11:30-15:00, [Dinner] 18:00-22:00. Luckily, there was no line outside! I got permission to take a photo of the staff and was seated at a small table near the entrance. I thoroughly sanitized my hands with the alcohol disinfectant on the table! I ordered the set meal and the mapo tofu with oysters, without oysters. Both come with the same side dishes and soup. The side dishes for the day were pork shabu salad with sesame sauce and egg white soup with sea bream and vegetables. My husband ordered the mapo tofu set meal with extra rice. The mapo tofu set meal, with extra rice for free, costs 1,200 yen. The restaurant was full, with customers coming in one after another! After a short wait, the side dishes and soup arrived! Let's eat! First, the soup! It was a flavorful soup with seasonal sea bream and plenty of vegetables. The pork shabu salad with sesame sauce was made with high-quality pork and fresh vegetables! The balance of sesame sauce was excellent. The main dish arrived. When the lid of the ceramic pot was removed, the aroma of doubanjiang and sweet bean sauce filled the air!
