There's a new turtle restaurant on the east exit side of Shijō. It's great that you can enjoy turtle hot pot here! However, turtle hot pot requires a minimum of two servings, and I'm not a big eater to handle that. Plus, my friends, who I would normally go out to eat with, would definitely decline since it's turtle and the price is high. But this place offers turtle hot pot for one person, so it's perfect for solo diners. Turtle hot pot is more about enjoying the soup rather than the meat itself, and it is absolutely delicious—I've never tasted anything so good! After that, I ordered some zosui (rice soup). There’s no way it wouldn’t be delicious! With the addition of mochi, it’s quite filling. I might have taken in enough collagen to have my skin glowing. Thank you for the meal!

On May 14, 2024, at 6:30 PM, I visited the restaurant with three friends after having takoyaki at Hyoutan. I had been looking forward to this place since it was under renovation. Everyone arrived on time (I really appreciate people who are punctual), and we started at 6:30 PM with the "Chibi Maru" course, which was discounted to 4,300 yen (tax included, drinks extra). We began with a toast, and then some boiled dishes were served. The conversation flowed, and I ended up ordering another draft beer. However, the next dishes took quite a while to come out. Given that the restaurant was busy, I thought it was understandable. Finally, the fried and grilled items arrived, but again, it took a while for the next dishes to appear. I can accept that they were busy, but it was a bit surprising since we had made a reservation for the course. The live blood dish offered a choice between tequila or shochu. The shochu was quite fishy, but the tequila was delicious. The turtle hot pot leading into the final rice porridge was really good. I had quite a bit to drink, so the total bill added up, but considering the value, it was worth it. After saying goodbye to the turtle statue at the entrance, we left.

I recently visited a new casual soft-shell turtle restaurant called Suppon no Pon in Juusan, and it was my first experience trying soft-shell turtle. It was delicious with no unpleasant smell! The special pink Shigaraki ware pot was lovely. The sashimi, grilled dishes, fried turtle, boiled intestines, turtle stew, and rice porridge were all amazing. The next day, my skin felt plump and smooth! (*´˘`*)

I saw a comment about the second restaurant, but I think it's actually the first one. It's packed with great flavor and highly recommended! The clientele is also nice, and the soft-shelled turtle is delicious.
