This is a ramen shop located along the road, easy to find while driving. The friendly male staff brought us our food. The rich soup and finely chopped green onions give off a typical ramen shop vibe. The pork slices were tender and delicious.

Top menu is white miso, my partner had spicy miso (white miso). The sweetness of the vegetables comes out and it's delicious. For first-timers, the soup may seem like hot pot? Oil flavor is minimal. The restaurant has more older couples than younger people. The chashu can be tender or have a chewy texture. There are plenty of green onions and bean sprouts for a satisfying meal.

I used it for lunch with the staff. The restaurant has about 25 seats in total, with around 5 counter seats and 5 tables. Are they trying to cut costs on staffing? With only 2 staff members, it's impossible to keep up... The ramen was good, but the service was very slow and the noodles were overcooked... Thank you for the meal.

On this day, after being turned away from several full restaurants, I ended up at Kitahama. I sat at the counter with no other customers in sight, and saw the words "Shrimp Miso Tsukemen." As a fan of shrimp ramen, I knew I had to try it! The dish arrived in less than 10 minutes. The noodles were not too thick, possibly specially made for this dish. I dipped them in the soup and took a bite. The miso soup had a subtle shrimp flavor, but lacked the aroma and strong shrimp taste I was expecting. It was tasty as a miso tsukemen, but didn't quite live up to my expectations as a shrimp ramen dish.

On this day, the restaurant I wanted to visit was closed for their bi-weekly day off, so I changed my plans and went to the same restaurant. This place was one of the pioneers of the first ramen boom in Hakodate. Personally, I like tonkotsu shio (pork bone salt) ramen, but since this was my first review, I ordered their recommended white miso ramen. It arrived in 7-8 minutes. Toppings included green onions, chashu (roast pork), menma (bamboo shoots), and a seasoned boiled egg. As you can see in the picture, the boiled egg here is firm! They have a commitment to firm boiled eggs! First, I took a sip of the soup. It was a mild miso flavor! This type of mild miso flavor originated here in Hakodate! The noodles were medium-thick and chewy, cooked perfectly. It's a delicious old-fashioned miso ramen, but lacks a bit of novelty. It's a place you might suddenly feel like visiting once in a while.

I don't particularly like ramen, but I felt like trying the Hakodate specialty, salt ramen. My taste buds can be inconsistent depending on the weather, my health, and my mood. This time, I visited "Ramen no Odou Kitahama Shoten Main Store" located along the Yobutsu Street. You can choose between tender or firm chashu, and adjust the richness of the soup and the amount of garlic. It's a shop with a strong sense of hospitality. While the white miso ramen was recommended, I ordered the salt ramen (750 yen). It had a light soup base made from chicken bones with thick, large, tender chashu. It may be a bit pricey, but it's a recommended shop.

I visited after a long time. I had the most popular white miso ramen in a regular size. It's convenient that they offer a half size option for those who are not too hungry. You can choose between two types of chashu, one with a chewy texture and the other with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. I chose the melt-in-your-mouth one. The miso flavor is mild and not overpowering. It may not be satisfying for those who prefer a strong flavor, but I found it easy to eat and enjoyed it.

The ramen has more richness compared to other Hakodate salt ramen. Butter? I want to visit this restaurant again.
