On September 29, 2023, our second stop, just a three-minute walk from "Dashi-dokoro Yamada-ya," was "Warayaki-dokoro Shin." As it turns out, this place is part of the same restaurant group—what a surprise! The concept here is "warayaki" (straw-grilled), and I was immediately captivated by the flames as soon as I entered the restaurant.
For our toast, I enjoyed a healthy Red Eye, made with Premium Malt’s beer, which added a rich flavor that was delightful. After having some appetizers, we ordered the signature "Shin's Potato Salad." The texture of the fluffy potatoes was excellent and delicious.
Next, we tried the signature "warayaki" dishes: "Awaodori Chicken" and "Fresh Bonito." Both dishes were wonderfully complemented by the aromatic flavor of the warayaki cooking, making them incredibly tasty—truly GOOD!
We also had the "Exquisite Tamagoyaki," which not only looked fantastic but also tasted amazing! We enjoyed the "Bacon Warayaki with Cheese" as well. This dish featured thick-cut bacon that was grilled to perfection, making it incredibly delicious, especially with the added cheese—definitely a winner!
To finish things off, we took the manager's recommendation of the "Assorted Nigiri 5 pieces," priced at just 1,280 yen. I was blown away by the quality for such a price! You might wonder why a grilled specialty restaurant would serve sushi, but it was genuinely delicious! The nigiri included Umeyiro from Kagoshima, fresh Honmaguro from Kushimoto, Hirame from Ehime, Sayori from Ishikawa, and Nakaochi, reflecting serious sushi-making skills! The "Honmaguro from Kushimoto" was particularly outstanding!
