We visited "Shaburaku Tei," located about a 6-minute walk from Shinjuku East Exit, after finishing our drinks with friends. This restaurant offers a unique experience where each person gets their own hot pot. We chose to sit at the counter!
We ordered the Premium Pork Loin Course (1,350 yen), which comes with a vegetable set, udon, and rice—plus, you can get free refills on rice! The cost performance is amazing! My friend ordered a set with both beef and pork, and I tried a bit of the beef, which was also delicious.
The interior of the restaurant is very clean, the food is tasty, and it’s affordable! It’s absolutely the best! I will definitely come back again.

On Sunday, December 2024, I casually visited a shabu-shabu restaurant called "Shaburaku-tei." It's a user-friendly place that's easy to enter alone, and there are table seats suitable for small groups as well. This time, I was in the mood for sukiyaki, so I ordered their 'suki-shabu' which includes:
- Domestic black Japanese beef for 2,500 yen
- A3-grade black Japanese beef for 800 yen per slice
The set menu comes with vegetables, rice, an egg, and pickles. The quality of the meat was excellent, and being able to order additional slices one at a time is a nice touch. There is a good variety of vegetables, making it ideal for someone living alone! It’s highly recommended for a quick dinner. Thank you for the meal!

At Shaburaku-tei in Kabukicho, I enjoyed the beef suki-shabu course (2,800 yen), which features tender domestic beef and plenty of fresh vegetables. The special sweet and savory dipping sauce pairs perfectly with the rich raw egg. Each bite brought out a satisfying flavor and aroma. The course is served in a single-person hot pot, allowing you to enjoy it at your own pace without worrying about those around you. While the price may feel a bit high, I recommend it for anyone looking to casually enjoy sukiyaki or shabu-shabu in Shinjuku.

Recently, there has been an increase in restaurants offering solo hot pot, and this place is one of them. There are counters in the front where you can enjoy shabu-shabu by yourself. At the table seating, there are four burners, allowing each person to have their own pot. You can choose from three types of broth: spicy hot pot, shabu-shabu, and sukiyaki, but since each person gets their own pot, there’s no need to coordinate, which is great. I went for the standard shabu-shabu, while my friend opted for the spicy hot pot. The standard shabu-shabu comes with ponzu sauce and sesame sauce, and rice is unlimited. I was really hungry that day, so I ordered double the amount of meat. I also requested their much-talked-about roast beef.
Before long, a vegetable set that included udon and the meat arrived. I was surprised by how well-marbled the meat was. It looked delicious. Since it was like a solo pot, I added plenty of vegetables and threw all the meat in. I personally prefer to enjoy it in a hot pot style. With unlimited rice, I could enjoy the meat without worrying about the quantity, which was a delight. I dipped the meat in sesame sauce at first, and then switched to ponzu for a refreshing taste towards the end. The balance was excellent! Most people seemed to eat quickly and leave, so the turnover rate looked good. I saw someone enjoying solo shabu-shabu at the counter, which seemed fun. Thank you for the meal!

This restaurant offers shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, and hot pot featuring Kobe beef and Japanese black hair wagyu. The interior is spacious and chic, yet casual enough for young people and families to feel comfortable. One of the great things is that each person gets their own pot, so everyone can pick their favorite style—shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, or hot pot—without worrying about sharing utensils.
This time, we ordered the "Premium A4 Black Wagyu & Pork Mix" to enjoy both the Japanese black wagyu and premium pork in shabu-shabu. We were served vegetables, mushrooms, and the meat, and we started cooking. We enjoyed them with rice, dipping them in sesame sauce and ponzu. The meat quality is excellent, as expected from a restaurant that also operates a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant. The black wagyu is tender with just the right amount of fat, making it delicious. The pork has no unpleasant smell and the fat is of high quality. The sesame sauce is fabulous. There’s plenty of green onions, which is a great bonus for onion lovers who want to use a lot.
We also ordered a roast beef bowl as an extra, which had a sweet sauce and the meat was tender yet firm, making it very enjoyable. This is a great place to visit, especially during the year-end party season.

I went out for dinner. Since it was a weekday, I was able to make a reservation online on the same day. Being in Kabukicho, there were many large groups, but the restaurant was clean and pleasant. I ordered the beef and pork set (2400 yen), which came with 3 slices of pork and 4 slices of beef. It’s not an all-you-can-eat option, so if you want more, you can order additional pieces of meat individually. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I used this place for the first time. We had a two-person table with individual hot pots for each of us. We chose the all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu with all-you-can-drink options. Almost all the meat was included in the all-you-can-eat offer. The serving time was great, and the timing was mostly perfect. The vegetables and sauces were also free to refill. I definitely got my money's worth just from the meat, haha! Next time, I think I will try a hot pot other than shabu-shabu!

I ordered pork and beef shabu-shabu for 2,700 yen at a hot pot restaurant. The tables were spacious, and the pot itself seemed large, but the two-person tables were quite compact, so they had a good number of seats. Each person had their own pot with a burner, which made it nice to eat separately without sharing the same pot. The dipping sauce was delicious, but the meat was just average for the price. It's a good option since they stay open late, making it convenient when needed.

I rarely come to Kabukicho, but… by chance… the restaurant is spacious, but it’s already past lunch hour and there’s only one group of customers. I have a bad feeling about this. I ordered the carefully selected pork and beef lunch, about 3400 yen. The table already had a hot pot set up, and when I lifted the lid, there was kombu floating in it. I wondered, when was this set? The skimmer and tongs were placed in a container of water. Again, I wondered, when was this set? The meat was mediocre, and the vegetables were the same. Do you want udon? Am I supposed to add it to this pot with scum? There were sesame and ponzu dipping sauces, but they didn’t have much flavor… The rice was hard. The pot was too deep, making it difficult to eat. The staff didn’t engage at all and provided no explanations. I’m going to have to leave a harsh review.

I was able to enjoy a high-quality shabu-shabu experience, far beyond what the price might suggest, with a personal hot pot for each guest. Shaburaku-tei Kabukicho opened in October 2023 and is part of the same group as the well-known upscale restaurant Kiraku in Kita-Shinchi, Osaka. While Kiraku is a high-end restaurant with a high price point, this place offers a more casual, affordable option. The menu is supervised by Chef Hasegawa from the renowned Gurmantiz, ensuring quality.
I made a reservation for two on a weekday evening for our first visit. The restaurant is located in the heart of Kabukicho, just a short walk from Shinjuku Station. The interior is luxurious, featuring both counter and table seating. Each table has its own hot pot, allowing you to enjoy your favorite soup base without any worries.
On this visit, we ordered:
- Double meat black Wagyu and pork mix for 3,500 yen each (includes vegetable set, specialty udon rice, pickles, and dipping sauce)
- Sukiyaki shabu-shabu for an additional 300 yen
- Spicy hot pot for an additional 300 yen
- Roast beef bowl for 1,000 yen
- Seasonal sorbet for 400 yen each
You can choose from three types of broth for the shabu-shabu, and there’s no extra charge for the standard shabu-shabu. Since we have a hot pot each, we decided to go for the sukiyaki and spicy hot pot for an additional 300 yen each. With a set that allows us to enjoy both beef and pork, I went for the double portion since we were quite hungry. The broth for the sukiyaki was notably sweet, which paired well with the egg yolk and made the rice even more delicious. In contrast, the spicy hot pot broth was very spicy, especially for the napa cabbage that soaked up the heat. The rich dipping sauce was incredibly tasty.
The meat was of high quality and absolutely delicious, and there were plenty of vegetables, which was great. Since it was a cold day, this meal felt especially perfect. It’s an ideal choice for the upcoming season. You can enjoy it easily even if you're alone, so I would definitely love to visit again.

The staff was very friendly, making it easy for me to dine alone. I ordered a course for 2,700 yen, and I was surprised to find that rice was unlimited, along with udon and vegetables, so I felt quite full! The prices range from affordable to expensive, making it suitable for everyday dining or a special treat. I definitely want to go back to this restaurant! 😊

This is a sister restaurant of the highly-rated shabu-shabu Kiraku in Kitashinchi, which has received the Tabelog 100 Famous Restaurants award. They offer a mixed set of domestic black wagyu beef and pork (double the meat) for ¥3,200, along with a roast beef bowl for ¥1,000. You can enjoy both beef and pork in generous portions, and there's the option to change to a sukiyaki or hot pot for an additional ¥300! Each person gets their own individual pot, allowing everyone to choose their preferred option. I went with the sukiyaki! The dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned, making it so tasty with rice, and the meat quality was excellent, with hardly any scum to worry about. The meat was incredibly tender! There were two types of dipping sauces available for the shabu-shabu, and it came with a set of vegetables, plus a good-sized portion of udon, which is perfect for the end of the meal. The roast beef bowl also featured beautifully presented meat and had a lovely savory aroma. For dessert, I had vanilla ice cream for ¥400. Even after eating so much meat, I didn't feel heavy at all! I left feeling very satisfied! Surprisingly, they even provided high chairs for children, and the spacious sofa seating made it easy to bring kids along. I'm also curious about the hot pot option, so I definitely want to go back!

The location is a bit hard to find, and the entrance feels narrow, but once you step inside, it is spacious, beautiful, and has a luxurious feel. The fact that it’s open until 5:00 AM is a big plus. The food was indeed delicious. Compared to chain restaurants, it is slightly more expensive, but given that it’s a proper shabu-shabu, I actually think it’s quite reasonably priced. The marbling of the meat is impressive, and even the pork feels like high-quality beef. The atmosphere inside is quiet, making it easy to have a relaxed conversation, which is nice.

It's been a while since I've been to Kabukicho! This place offers individual hot pots, which is perfect for those who are particular about cleanliness or who don't want to inconvenience others. The young staff provide excellent service, making me want to come back! I doubled the amount of meat, and I finished it all easily! The ponzu sauce and sesame sauce are delicious, the vegetables are just right, and the unlimited rice refills are amazing. Especially in winter, I crave hot pots, so I definitely recommend this place when visiting Kabukicho! I'm also curious about trying the spicy hot pot, so I'll have to go eat there soon!

Since it's a new restaurant unrelated to the local area, there aren't any noisy customers, or rather, there are hardly any customers at all. For 2000 yen per person, you can enjoy a decent and well-prepared shabu-shabu. The additional good quality meat starts at just 300 yen (per slice), and the rice is served in a small bowl for women, but you can get refills, so it's not a problem. They have a maximum option of around 8000 yen, but it doesn't taste very good, so there's really no need to order that. This place is great for casually enjoying shabu-shabu with friends or for having deeper conversations once you're comfortable with someone, and I can easily recommend it with this review.

We visited with our child. They have options for larger portions, which was perfect for sharing with my little one. Each person gets their own hot pot, which made it very reassuring. While the atmosphere felt upscale, there were also affordable dishes available, making it suitable for solo hot pot dining as well.

The lunch menu features pork with adjusted portion sizes while maintaining quality. Given the meat quality, I thought the evening prices would be reasonable. I recommend trying it out for lunch first. Also, since the area can be dangerous to walk around at night, it's better to visit during the day. There may be noisy groups of Chinese diners during peak times, which could lead to crowded restrooms as well.

I went to Shaburaku-tei Kabukicho in Shinjuku Kabukicho for drinks. First, I had to start with a beer—Kirin Ichiban Shibori.
Next up was the Shabu-shabu Set with Domestic Black Wagyu Beef and Pork Mix. The hot pot set arrived, and I chose shabu-shabu, but you can also opt for hot pot. The vegetables included Chinese cabbage, green onions, tofu, carrots, and bean sprouts, along with a plate of udon noodles. Additionally, there was rice, pickles, and two eggs! That’s because I had requested double the meat. The front side featured black wagyu, while the back had black pork. Once the pot started boiling, I added one slice of meat at a time to cook it quickly. The meat was hot, tender, and sweet-savory, making it pair perfectly with both rice and beer. Even after eating a lot, the meat didn’t seem to diminish; having double meat was definitely the right choice. I felt so happy!
I was also intrigued by the Roast Beef Rice Bowl on the menu. Since it was quite large, we shared one while enjoying the shabu-shabu. The egg yolk was a great addition. Eating meat while having even more meat was delightful, of course, we had the udon to wrap it all up.
For dessert, I finished off with vanilla ice cream after all that meat. I truly indulged in a meat feast!

The service was excellent, and I was able to enjoy the shabu-shabu at a leisurely pace! The rice was free for refills, and having a separate pot for each person allowed us to cook at our own pace and to our preferred level of doneness, which I really appreciated. You can also order additional items after selecting a course!

I recently visited a shabu-shabu restaurant in Kabukicho! The concept of the place is that you can enjoy shabu-shabu at your leisure, even as a solo diner. In addition to table seating, there are counter seats that make it easy for individuals to come in. Even if you come in a group, they have individual pots for everyone, which is impressive. Many of the customers were international, and the menu was available in both Japanese and English.
All of the menu items are supervised by Chef Hasegawa from Gurmendi, a renowned French restaurant in Hiroo that has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 restaurants. Here's what I had:
- **Black Wagyu and Pork Mixed Shabu-Shabu (Double Meat)**: ¥3,200 (Lunch), ¥3,500 (Dinner)
- **Roast Beef Bowl**: ¥1,000
- **Seasonal Sorbet**: ¥400
I highly recommend the roast beef bowl to enjoy alongside the shabu-shabu! Priced at just ¥1,000, it's a great deal. The bowl is generously piled with roast beef, practically hiding the rice underneath, and it shines beautifully. The meat is wonderfully fragrant with a rich fat content that makes it delicious! Adding wasabi for an extra kick was delightful.
You can choose your broth for the shabu-shabu, from the standard kombu broth to options like sukiyaki or hot pot. Along with the meat, fresh vegetables, udon, and tofu are included. The black wagyu has beautifully marbled fat that is sweet and delicious! The dipping sauces were also excellent. The restaurant blends a special sauce for the shabu-shabu, with the ponzu offering a refreshing citrus aroma and the sesame sauce providing a strong sesame flavor that enhances the taste of the meat.
When you choose sukiyaki, it comes with a raw egg. The udon and tofu soaked in the sweet sukiyaki sauce were fantastic! While the kombu broth is delicious, I also recommend trying it with the sukiyaki for a different experience.
I chose lemon for the seasonal sorbet, and it was a refreshing palate cleanser. Having individual pots means that even when dining in a group, you can enjoy it exactly how you like, which is a big plus!
If you're looking for delicious shabu-shabu and roast beef bowl, this place is definitely worth a visit!

【Shaburaku-tei in Shinjuku】 Enjoy a hot pot course featuring domestic premium black-haired beef and premium pork at the same time, with double the meat for ¥3400. Includes a vegetable set (half serving of udon), pickles, rice (free refills), carefully selected beef and pork, drinks, draft beer, lemon sour, and Yoichi whiskey.
*Review*: This was my first visit to this restaurant. It's a shabu-shabu spot located in the heart of Kabukicho, Shinjuku, and it's open until 5 AM, a unique feature of Kabukicho! You can enjoy premium wagyu and Kobe beef, and the portion sizes are generous, making it quite a good value.
▶︎ Hot Pot Course: It's an authentic hot pot and quite spicy! You complete the dish by adding a scoop of hot pot soup to a special dipping sauce. The combination of the meat and vegetables is just perfect, and I found myself finishing the rice quickly! The unlimited rice refills are a great touch.
You can dine at the counter or at tables, with each person having their own pot, allowing for a relaxed and personal shabu-shabu experience. It's perfect for dates or girls' nights out! Since it’s open until morning, it’s also a great spot for a late-night meal after drinking. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
