During the Obon holiday, we gathered the kids and their friends for a fun monjayaki party! This time, we decided to visit a highly-rated restaurant known for its authentic monjayaki with a focus on three different types of broth. Here’s what we ordered:
From the regular menu:
- Deluxe Seafood Chanko Monjayaki (2,365 yen)
- Mentaiko Mochi Cheese Monjayaki (1,705 yen)
From today's recommendations:
- Chicken Chanko (1,409 yen)
- Beef Tendon Curry (1,485 yen)
And lastly, from the Shinjuku limited menu:
- Triple Cheese Monjayaki (1,749 yen)
First, we tried the "Famous Monji Specialty: Deluxe Seafood Monjayaki." The Deluxe Seafood Chanko Monjayaki features a light yet rich salt chanko broth originating from Ryogoku, loaded with luxurious seafood ingredients like shrimp, squid, and clams! The kids were super excited about all the seafood included, even before we started eating. Plus, we topped it off with salmon roe, which added a delightful pop and enhanced the seafood flavors, making each bite a truly happy experience.
We also couldn’t miss the popular "Mentaiko Mochi Cheese Monjayaki" from the standard menu. The chewy texture of mochi, the rich flavor of cheese, and the spiciness from the mentaiko created an exquisite balance that left the kids very satisfied. Additionally, we tried the "Chicken Chanko" from today’s recommendations. The light yet flavorful broth mixed perfectly with the chicken, providing a hearty meal.
We also ordered the aromatic beef tendon curry, which had a strong aroma and flavor that made us keep reaching for more. The "Triple Cheese Monjayaki" from the Shinjuku limited menu was a must-try for cheese lovers. The combination of three types of cheese created a rich and creamy taste that spread across our mouths. The kids, who love cheese, were thrilled, making this dish another big hit!
The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, and we enjoyed tasting various flavors while having fun together. As we left, we all talked about wanting to come back again.
