Located in the center of Kitahiroshima, there is a place called "Onigiri CAFE" that I really like. The place is quite spacious, with seating available for dining in, and they even hold piano concerts with donations requested for maintenance. In addition to onigiri, they also offer set meals, making it a comfortable place for dining. However, their operating days are irregular, so it's best to check their social media or signs before visiting. The tuna onigiri costs 150 yen and is prepared by the staff in the kitchen at the back. However, on the day of my visit, it took about 10 minutes to be served for some reason. The prices are reasonable, and the size of the onigiri is small, weighing around 100-110g with well-selected rice that is cooked to a perfect softness. The rice ball is well-formed, and the seaweed is satisfactory. However, the finishing touches seem a bit sloppy. The seasoning is a bit weak, giving the overall taste a bland impression. While the tuna filling also has a mild taste. Perhaps their focus is on "gentleness," but for a handheld snack like onigiri, a certain level of flavor enhancement is necessary. Personally, I would prefer the rice to be good quality while keeping the filling mild. As a tip, you could try spraying soy sauce on the seaweed for some extra flavor.

In the area around Kitahiroshima, during lunchtime while moving towards Chitose on the Ebetsu-Eniwa Line, I remembered that there was an onigiri shop in the vicinity. I decided to stop by "Omusubi Cafe Tsubu" on the first floor of the Seikatsu Club building. The interior of the shop had a relaxed and bright atmosphere, with a cozy raised seating area and tables for two, some of which were made from old sewing machines, showing attention to detail in the decor. Looking at the menu, they offered three types of daily lunch sets with onigiri included: A for 800 yen, B for 1,000 yen, and C for 1,200 yen, as well as a variety of drinks, baked sweets, and other treats. They had 12 types of onigiri without seaweed wrapping and 14 types with seaweed wrapping, offering a wide selection. Since I was in a hurry on my way, I ordered two onigiri to go: "tarako" for 210 yen and "katsuo" for 130 yen. After about 5 minutes, they handed me the onigiri wrapped in paper, and I immediately ate them in the car. The tarako onigiri had firm rice cooked just right for an onigiri, with a moderate amount of filling and a mild saltiness. It seemed like a healthy option, but some may find it a bit lacking in flavor. The katsuo onigiri, on the other hand, had a generous amount of filling with a good bonito flavor and a mild saltiness. Both onigiri were of a convenient size, weighing around 120g each. The onigiri seemed reasonably priced, and I thought it would be nice if the lunch sets were priced a bit lower. Thank you for the meal.

Delicious hand-rolled onigiri with attention to detail♪ I also liked the atmosphere, the dishes, and the concept...! It had been about 2 months since my last visit. After bathing at Kitahiroshima Classe Hotel, I visited the restaurant. Last time, I had 2 onigiri, but this time I opted for the lunch plate. The location of the restaurant can be found in my previous review. We arrived with 3 people right at the opening time of 11:30. Since I enjoyed the onigiri last time, I was determined to try the lunch plate this time! So, without hesitation, I ordered the Plate Lunch A. I ordered the onigiri with raw cod roe (+50 yen) and seaweed tsukudani. It cost 850 yen (tax included) and was the first order of the day, but we had to wait for 27 minutes. I wonder if something went wrong or if there were various reasons for the delay. Last time, when I only had onigiri, the wait was about 10 minutes, so this time felt a bit longer. The atmosphere is nice, and they have rental boxes, so it's a good place to spend time, but if you're in a hurry, the lunch plate might be a bit challenging! It might have been just this time, though. The Plate Lunch A includes 2 onigiri (up to 180 yen each) with raw cod roe and salmon (+50 yen extra). You can choose 2 main dishes from soy sauce koji fried chicken or simmered Pacific saury (I chose the latter). It also comes with potato and bell pepper curry stir-fry, leek and bean sprout salad, and miso soup with cabbage, onion, and fried tofu. The contents change daily, which is nice. When the lunch was brought out, I was delighted. This was definitely going to be delicious! First, I tried the miso soup. It's been a while since I had miso soup with cabbage. It had a sweet taste from the cabbage, and it was full of ingredients. The flavor was really good and seemed good for the body. It might not be filling enough for men, but it was to my liking. The simmered Pacific saury (2 pieces) was excellent. There were 2 pieces, so I exchanged one with my companion's fried chicken. The accent of the plum flavor was really good. The Pacific saury was simmered well, so the bones were not an issue. Oh... this is definitely a great side dish. I also traded with my companion for the fried chicken, and it also had a great seasoning. The saltiness was not overpowering, which was nice. It seems you can order it separately for an additional 100 yen, so it might be good to have it with a single onigiri. The potato and bell pepper curry stir-fry was delicious, even though I'm not a fan of potatoes. The texture of the potatoes was firm, and the curry spice was just right, so there was no starchy taste. The volume was good, and it was a tasty side dish. The leek and egg salad had a slightly sweet seasoning, but the strong leek flavor was irresistible. Leeks and eggs are the best combination, in my opinion. It was delicious! The bean sprout salad had a good amount, and the seasoning was not too strong, making it easy to eat and tasty, but I still can't seem to like bean sprouts. It's not the restaurant's fault; it's just my preference. The pickled cucumbers were praised by my companion, who felt the homemade touch of the pickling. The onigiri, while a bit small, were plump and well-made. They were delicious. I was surprised by the raw cod roe, which was made with top-quality cod roe finished with only natural salt. I also ordered seaweed tsukudani, which was made without chemical seasonings. It's amazing how natural flavors can be like this. It's not the usual cod roe and tsukudani I eat, so I was impressed. My companion also really enjoyed the tuna mayo, which was made with real tuna (using skipjack tuna). The overall seasoning, including the onigiri, may not appeal to everyone (it's generally mild), but I hope this restaurant stays the same. I enjoyed it once again this time. I will definitely visit again.

There is an onigiri shop in Kitahiroshima City. But it's not just about onigiri!! You'll know once you use it. What is this shop all about!! It's really great♪ Not only the deliciousness of onigiri, but other aspects are also really good!! - Location Located near Kitahiroshima Station. It is along a major street, so the access is good. It is on the 1st floor of the Seikatsu Club building. There is a shared parking lot that can accommodate dozens of cars, and parking is free. - Exterior Impressively large facility than imagined. You might pass by without noticing if it weren't for the "onigiri" sign. The entrance has a stylish automatic door. - Interior The ceiling is high! And it's a stylish space. There are rental boxes available (seems like you can use them for 1,000 yen per month). This time, I bought a mask case for 450 yen from one of those boxes. - Concept "A cafe specializing in onigiri that uses Seikatsu Club's ingredients with clear origins and cultivation methods, excluding genetically modified seasonings." - Menu Onigiri range from 110 yen for salt onigiri. What stands out is the daily lunch set for 800 yen. It includes 4 side dishes, 2 onigiri, and miso soup for 800 yen! This is truly surprising, and all the dishes have a strong sense of "commitment" like not using chemical seasonings. - Taste I tried the tuna mayo for 160 yen and bonito for 130 yen. The tuna mayo uses homemade mayonnaise without chemical seasonings and uses yellowfin tuna. The onigiri itself is quite plump and well-filled. The taste is a combination of the deliciousness of tuna and a moderate amount of mayo. It's delicious and body-friendly. Next is the bonito. This shop is interesting. They didn't mention not using chemical seasonings in the bonito like they did with the tuna mayo!! Their honesty is commendable. They don't use antioxidants or preservatives. They use additive-free bonito flakes and soy sauce made from 100% Hokkaido soybeans. The quality of this bonito onigiri for just 130 yen is amazing. - Utensils Utensils, for onigiri, in this kind of quality?! Tea cup. Chopsticks. Wooden plate. I was also surprised by the fact that two delicious onigiri cost only 290 yen, and the handmade feel of these utensils and tableware is also great. It's nice to have tea included. - Overall Overall, I'm satisfied. Very satisfied. I used the mask case I bought in the rental space right away. Next time I visit, I want to enjoy a lunch plate here after enjoying the hot springs at Classe Hotel in Kitahiroshima.

At the end of the year, to use up some paid time off, my friend and I took a day off on a weekday (I wanted to take the whole day off if possible). We searched for a restaurant that is open only on weekdays and visited for the first time. - Set C: 1,200 yen (includes grilled salmon and brown rice with cheese, additional 30 yen for salmon) - Gateau Chocolat: 250 yen They offer three types of daily lunch sets, and we chose Set C, which includes 2 rice balls, 4 side dishes, miso soup, and a drink. You can choose your favorite rice ball - I chose the classic salmon and struggled to choose the second one, eventually going with the brown rice cheese bake. They carefully wrap the rice balls after taking the order, and they are small but flavorful with a hint of salt. If you order just one rice ball, you get a 100 yen discount. The set also comes with 4 side dishes, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors in small portions. For the main dish, you can choose between fried chicken or saury, and I chose the fried chicken. The cake was affordable and deliciously moist, and they also serve hand-drip coffee with great care. The coasters and cups are cute, and they take pride in using quality ingredients and providing attentive service. The tables have foot-operated sewing machines, and there are miscellaneous items that add to the relaxed atmosphere. It was a delightful dining experience.

On a certain weekday, I went on a little expedition for lunch at an onigiri cafe located near the Kitahiroshima City Hall. The cafe is attached to a day service facility, and there seems to be plenty of parking available as it is shared with the day service facility. The interior of the cafe is well-designed with a high ceiling, raised tatami seating, table seating, and counter seating where you can look outside. The background music playing is calming listening music. From the menu on this day, the lunch options are divided into sets with or without a drink, and adding a specialty coffee would make it over 1000 yen, so I reluctantly chose the drink-less "Set A (800 yen)" with the limited edition "Shiso Miso" onigiri, "Salmon (+30 yen)", and the main dish being mackerel tempura and fried chicken, I chose the "Mackerel Tempura" option... Oh~ I couldn't resist and also added the "Fried Chicken (100 yen)" as an extra. Let's take a bite... Yes, yes ♡, the salmon was a good size with probably good rice cooked with natural salt and a certain salt that was pleasing, the salmon inside was perfectly seasoned with plenty of umami. The balance of the onigiri, including the way it was shaped, was well done. The Shiso Miso onigiri also had the deliciousness of seaweed, the rice had just the right amount of salt, and the miso flavor made with Hokkaido soybeans was a nice choice. The mackerel tempura was fried crisp with attention to the bones, and the sweet vinegar sauce with onions, green peppers, and shiitake mushrooms complemented it well. The fried chicken also had a mild saltiness, allowing the taste of the "Dansen Kokkai" branded chicken to come through. Next, the small side dishes included carrot stir-fry, which was simple and made me want to visit Okinawa and cry. The sesame-dressed bean sprouts and greens were good, the snap peas and ground meat potato stew-like dish had tasty potatoes, cucumber pickles, light cabbage, daikon, green onions, and fried tofu miso soup, and finally, I ended with warm tea. Suddenly, I wonder if the pricing is slightly high for a lunch at a facility like this with the emphasis on ingredients and skilled cooking at the onigiri cafe. But it's all about the potential of the food! Thank you for the meal.

Today, my husband and I had the day off together and decided to visit the bank. After finishing our errands, we started to feel hungry. Since it was a weekday off, we decided to have lunch at a place that is only open on weekdays. My husband thought the lunch set was too much, so I suggested getting a single rice ball for myself and sharing his main dish, which he agreed to. The lunch set was a great deal, and my husband chose the rice ball with mountain wasabi miso and tanuki fillings, with chicken karage as the main dish. I secretly hoped he would share one karage with me, but he ended up eating both. The side dishes were all delicious and homey. I decided to get a grilled cheese rice ball, which was crispy and delicious. The coffee from Papua New Guinea was a bit acidic but refreshing. I wish this place was open on weekends too. I'll definitely come back when I have another weekday off. Thank you for the meal!

★Brown Rice Grilled Miso 160 yen ★Bonito Cheese 160 yen A cafe-style rice ball shop in Kitahiroshima. Closed on weekends and holidays, with short business hours, so it's a bit difficult to visit. The bright and pleasant atmosphere inside the shop attracts the Kitahiroshima ladies. It might be a bit intimidating for a man dining alone (^-^;) This time I got takeout. After ordering, they make the rice balls so you have to wait for about 10 minutes. The bonito cheese rice ball is the size of a convenience store rice ball. There is a lot of cheese in it, but the bonito flakes are quite scarce. I wish there was a bit more bonito. The brown rice rice ball is even smaller, almost child-sized. A man might be able to eat it in about two bites (^^;)ゞ The mild miso with reduced salt was delicious ♪ Thank you for the meal (^ω^)

Second visit on September 30, 2016. They used to be open on Saturdays, but now only open on weekdays, so it was a bit harder to visit. Luckily, I had the day off today so I could come back after a long time. Last time, I had the lunch set for 800 yen and got too full, so today I decided to order a la carte items. I sat by the window, ordered onigiri, side dishes, and dessert, and relaxed while reading a book. The black soybean onigiri was firm and perfectly seasoned, with a great texture and sweetness. The deep-fried tofu in broth was crispy and flavorful, with carrots and enoki mushrooms. The miso soup was simple but tasty, with seaweed, green onions, and fried tofu. The sweet potato cake was smooth and moist, with chunks of sweet potato adding a fun texture. It was made with safe and high-quality ingredients, and you could taste the care put into making it. I enjoyed taking my time savoring each dish. The forest coffee was organic and had a light and refreshing taste. Overall, the warm and locally sourced dishes were gentle on the body. Thank you for the delicious meal!

This is a cafe in Kitahiroshima in March 2016. They also offer takeout service. The interior has counter seats, raised seating areas, and tables made from sewing machines. There are handmade goods for sale at reasonable prices, creating a calming atmosphere. I ordered cod, plum, bonito cheese, and salmon onigiri. It took about 10 minutes for the order to be ready, during which I browsed the handmade goods. The onigiri were small, with firm rice and minimal fillings. I was slightly disappointed with the plum onigiri. It would be better if they used higher quality seaweed. This is a cafe where you can relax and enjoy freshly made food. Thank you for the meal! ✿ฺ(๑´ڡ`๑)✿ฺ.

【Non-smoking】Located relatively close to JR Kitahiroshima Station, it's a rice ball cafe along Route 1080 where a bowling alley used to be. Just a little further from the intersection with the Chitose Line towards Oomagari, on the first floor of the Seikatsu Club Co-op "Seikatsu Club Building". They use pesticide-free ingredients for their rice balls, side dishes, and drinks, so you can eat with peace of mind. They have barrier-free access and diaper changing facilities!Visited for the first time on May 15, 2014, at 2:30 pm. I discovered this shop while cycling the other day! After some deliberation on when to go, I finally made it (・ω・). Inside, there were several groups of customers all leisurely enjoying their time. I sat at the counter and ordered bonito rice ball (120 yen) and brown rice grilled miso garlic (150 yen). It was nice to see water and roasted green tea served. The roasted green tea had a strong tea leaf flavor and a fragrant aroma that increased my appetite. The rice balls were on the smaller side but had a good rice flavor and aroma. The rice texture was just right, not too soft or hard, making it easy to eat. The bonito flakes were not overly seasoned, just the simple taste of soy sauce. The garlic flavor in the grilled miso garlic was subtle, but the sweet miso was delicious. Since it's brown rice, if you chew slowly, you'll get full quickly (lol). The rice balls were perfectly shaped by the beautiful housewives. It's on Mogutan's cycling route, so I'll definitely stop by again (・ω・).

It's a place in Misawa, Kitahiroshima City, right across from JR Chitose Magari Kitahiroshima City Hall, but for the exact location, as always, please check on the map on Tabelog. A few days ago, when I drove past this shop, I noticed the sign saying it would open on April 2nd, so I decided to stop by around 3 o'clock to have some onigiri as a snack. The parking lot in front of the shop is not paved yet, but it looks like it can accommodate quite a few cars, so I parked my car and entered the shop. I sat at the counter seat by the window and looked at the menu. This time, I ordered the classic "salmon" and "miso soup" onigiri, but surprisingly, they were sold out of regular rice and only had "brown rice grilled miso" available. It took over 10 minutes for the food to arrive. The onigiri was smaller than I had heard. First, I tried the miso soup, which had plenty of vegetables and a small amount of pork, making it a healthy option with just the right amount of saltiness, but I wished it had some spice like shichimi or ichimi. Next, I tried the onigiri, and the miso spread on the surface was fragrant, but I finished it in just two bites. Overall, I felt that the prices were a bit high for the location, and the onigiri was small, with the amount of miso soup being modest, making it seem like a place more suited for those with a small appetite.

I went to have lunch on a regular day after a long time. I arrived at just the right time when I walked there. The opening time was spot on. It was getting hot as I walked, so I felt like having something cold to drink, so I chose a set with a drink included. There were two types of drink sets, and I chose the cheaper one (the more expensive one had different drink options). After about 8 minutes, the lunch plate arrived. It had 2 rice balls, 3 side dishes, and miso soup. I chose the rice balls with tanuki (fried tempura batter) and shiso (perilla) seaweed, and they were incredibly delicious. The portion size was just right, and the seasoning was gentle. If I had to say something negative, it might be that it was a bit lacking in quantity. I personally liked the seasoning. It might be a bit lacking in quantity and seasoning for men. By the way, if you feel that 2 rice balls are too much, you can reduce it to one and get a ¥100 discount. I love rice balls, so I was able to eat two. Next time, I might try the tuna mayo flavor.
