I visited Hamamaki for the first time in November 2014. The shop is located by the sea with a spacious parking lot next to it. I was hoping to find fresh fish, so I decided to stop by. The exterior of the shop is large, but the interior is surprisingly small. They had frozen fish and dried goods, but what caught my eye were the flounders and flatfish neatly displayed. When I asked about the prices, the flatfish was 3 pieces for 500 yen, and the flounders were 4 pieces for 500 yen. I bought some of them. When I asked the shop owner if there were any roadside stations or cafes nearby, I was told that there was nothing like that. I thought the town would be bigger, but it turned out to be quite small. I cut the flatfish in half, placed them on a steamer lined with cooking paper, and microwaved them for about 3 minutes. They turned out nicely with a golden brown color and were a convenient dish for making bento boxes. The flatfish had thick flesh and plenty of roe, making it a substantial main dish for dinner. Although there weren't many options when I visited, I was delighted to purchase my favorite flatfish at an affordable price. ♬
