"Agedokoro Hikanzen" in Takadanobaba, located a short walk from the station, is a newly opened charcoal-grilled izakaya directly managed by a middle wholesaler from Toyosu Market. I dashed over after finishing my morning work, excited by a TikTokLite video showcasing their offerings. I managed to get in just in time for their limited-quantity "Charcoal-Grilled Fish Bowl." I ordered the "Large Tuna Salmon Belly and Ikura Parent-Child Bowl" (1,500 yen). After a 10-minute wait, I couldn't help but exclaim "Wow!" when my dish arrived. The bowl featured a massive serving of freshly grilled salmon belly topped generously with ikura, creating a breathtaking sight. The salmon belly was perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and the ikura burst with freshness in every bite. I enjoyed it as a parent-child bowl at first, but then added a special shijimi katsu dashi (broth) from a teapot, along with some condiments, to transform it into a delightful ochazuke (rice with tea), finishing it all off smoothly. The range of dishes here isn't limited to just chicken and eggs; the main fish dishes are impressively large, reflecting the advantage of being a wholesaler-operated izakaya. It’s incredible to have such a lavish meal for just 1,500 yen. I was also surprised to see a young clientele here, contrary to recent news about Japan's declining fish consumption. For those who adore fish—especially salmon belly—this "parent-child bowl" is a must-try. I'm definitely coming back to complete my quest to try all their set meals! It was truly a happy lunch. I visited for a weekday lunch and was able to sit down without waiting! Just like last time, I ordered the fatty tuna belly set. This time, it came with two pieces of belly! I think last time it was a single, hefty piece... It was dripping with fat—perfect for fat lovers. The grated daikon, fish sauce, and lemon are the best combination. It's great because while grilled fish set meals seem common, they're quite rare in this area. At 1,300 yen, it’s definitely worth it!

This restaurant has been on my radar for lunch for a while, but I never had the opportunity to visit during lunch hours. I stayed until around 8:30 PM, and by then, about 70% of the seats, including the counter, were filled. On a Friday, it might be advisable to make a reservation. The ordering process was trendy; we ordered through a QR code via LINE. We had the following dishes: Infinite Green Peppers PREMIUM, Assorted Fish Skewers (5 pieces), Fresh Fried Potatoes with Anchovy Butter, Tuna with Gold Sesame and Soy Sauce, Grilled Mackerel with Mentaiko, and Grilled Rice Balls with Broth Soy Sauce, along with various drinks. The grilled and broiled dishes fall into a category of creative Japanese cuisine, featuring innovative presentations that are enjoyable to look at. If you want to try various grilled fish, I recommend visiting this place. However, I did notice some issues with the drink selection. There were many items out of stock, which led to several reorders. Perhaps the selection improves on Fridays, but that was a bit disappointing. Additionally, I had red wine by the glass, and it was extremely cold, likely from being stored in the refrigerator. While the restaurant primarily focuses on sake and shochu, I hope they can improve their drink management. Overall, the main dishes were enjoyable, so if you're interested, definitely pay a visit. I also plan to try lunch there next time!

I came to eat here because I was drawn in by the stunning appearance of the food, and there was no wait! The dish is lavishly topped with salmon roe and costs 1900 yen! It's great that it comes with a salad and miso soup too. I was really satisfied to be able to pour dashi over it at the end! I personally preferred eating it with dashi on top, as it was saltier and the dashi had a deep, rich flavor that I liked. The fatty parts of the fish can be a bit heavy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for those who are sensitive to richness, haha. I ended up feeling really full!

I came for the year-end party! I managed to make a last-minute reservation three days before Friday night! We booked a course for 5,000 yen that includes a two-hour all-you-can-drink option. We started by toasting with beer! We had kelp-marinated cucumbers and tuna tartare as our first dishes. Then came a tofu and fish roe salad, a two-kind assortment of tuna sashimi, grilled hokke fish, and grilled mackerel with a sansho sauce and grated daikon mustard as the next dishes. We also had french fries with anchovy mustard sauce, charcoal-grilled Ooyama chicken, and fried taro. To finish, we had salmon belly mixed rice topped with ikura! The dishes were all thoughtfully prepared, making for a very enjoyable year-end party! I had been here for lunch a couple of times, but this was my first time at night, and it was really great! I would love to come back! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I visited Takadanobaba again. During lunchtime around noon, the crowd was less intense compared to my last visit. I was drawn to the grilled red sea bream, but unfortunately, it was sold out. I ordered the simple grilled mackerel set meal. The restaurant offers various side dishes and combinations, which is a plus. The mackerel was standard, and while having a salad was nice, it felt a bit lonely. The miso soup was on the lighter side. The prices are reasonable for what you get. I look forward to trying other menu items next time.

I have visited the Ningyocho location a few times, and I've heard this place is a sister restaurant. From the entrance, you can catch a glimpse of the interior, which has a stylish atmosphere that seems more fitting for a trendy establishment than Takadanobaba (the Ningyocho store has a more casual vibe). The main offerings are fish set meals, but there are also some meat options available. Orders are made via QR code. I intended to order the charcoal-grilled hamburger, but I accidentally selected "Deep-fried Young Chicken with Yuzu Pepper (¥1,100)." Since it was one of my choices, it turned out to be fine. In fact, it may have been a fortunate mistake. The young chicken was really delicious. The decor is stylish, and it seems like the lighting is designed to spotlight the food on the table, which made the served dishes look appealing. Presentation is important. And of course, the taste was excellent. The meat seemed to have been seasoned from the start, so the yuzu pepper was enough to make it flavorful and juicy—definitely a plus. The coating was crispy, which I really liked. The rice was fluffy, and the chopped green onions served with it were fresh and crunchy, which was great. The only slight downside was that it was a bit cold at the table near the entrance, and it took a little while for the food to be served (but that might just be due to timing). You can choose between small, medium, or large portions of rice, but the volume of the main dish isn’t very large, so I wouldn’t say it offers the best cost-performance. It's a rare and stylish Japanese set meal restaurant in Takadanobaba since the opening of Uokinn a few years ago, so I’m definitely planning to come back soon. Next time, I’ll try my original choice, the "Charcoal-Grilled Hamburger (¥1,100)," and eventually, I want to challenge myself with one of the fish set meals as well.

This is my second visit to a restaurant near Takadanobaba Station. The first time I visited, since it had just opened, it took about an hour from ordering to receiving my food, which left me with a less than favorable impression. However, this time, I arrived just after 11:30 and there was no line at all. I ordered the signature dish that was sold out during my last visit: the "Grilled Salmon Belly and Ikura Parent-Child Rice Bowl." It came with grilled salmon and ikura on top of rice, and you could finish it off by turning it into ochazuke (rice with hot tea). Thank you for the meal!

This is my second visit. The first time it was very crowded, but this time it was quite empty, and I was able to try their most popular dish. I had a strong craving for saury, so I decided to visit this restaurant. It was just before noon, and the place was about 80% full. I placed my order through the QR code at my table. I ordered the saury grilled with salt set meal (1,300 yen) with an extra large serving of rice (free). The fish is grilled fresh at the grill station by the entrance only after the order is placed. The saury that was served looked impressive and delicious. There was a "grilled fish soy sauce" on the table, so I poured it over the grated daikon radish and enjoyed it with the saury. This soy sauce had a milder taste compared to regular soy sauce, allowing me to savor the flavors and umami of the saury. Choosing the extra large rice portion was definitely the right decision. The miso soup came with daikon added, which was also a perfect match for the grilled fish. I paid using PayPay. I think I’ll return here whenever I have a craving for fish. However, I found it a bit distracting that the chairs shook when staff walked behind me, possibly due to poor floor construction.

My friend and I visited without a reservation. The restaurant just opened this year, so the interior is clean and stylish! There were many delicious seafood dishes! It seems like it’s not widely known yet, as there were only a few customers, making it a hidden gem. They also have a wide variety of drinks, and there are still many menu items that caught my interest, so I definitely want to go back. Just a heads-up: there are no sweet options (desserts) on the menu, so that's something to keep in mind.

We were talking about wanting to eat something delicious, so we decided to go to this restaurant that we both saved on Instagram. We anticipated a line, so we arrived right at opening time, but there was no wait and we got in immediately. The presentation was great, but the taste was also fantastic! The flavor was quite strong, which made the white rice really enjoyable. I ran out of rice and asked for a refill, which is free! It was also delicious when I turned it into ochazuke (rice with tea poured over it).

I visited a restaurant that a friend recommended on Friday without a reservation. I was a bit worried about whether I would get a seat, but there were actually quite a few available! It seems that the salmon and roe donburi has increased in price to 1800 yen, but it still feels like a good deal! I arrived around 11:15 on a Sunday, but there were already two groups waiting since the restaurant opens at 11:30. The donburi is limited in quantity, so I guess it's quite competitive! I also ordered fresh tuna sashimi for 1000 yen, and the fat content was like that of medium fatty tuna—absolutely delicious! For drinks, they said they could serve bottled beer, so I ordered Akaboshi (Red Star). Since it's lunch and a set meal, I don't think many people usually order drinks, but there are surprisingly a lot of seats, so on a regular day, you could likely get in without waiting! It seems that the donburi is overwhelmingly the most popular menu item. I definitely want to go back in the evening!

The restaurant itself is spacious and provides a relaxing atmosphere. I ended up drinking too much after a long time and mistakenly ordered the wrong drink at the end, which I felt bad about leaving unfinished. I’m really sorry about that. Located just off the Sakai-dori street, a short walk from Takadanobaba Station's Waseda Exit, "Aburi-dokoro Hi no Maegoshi Takadanobaba" is a sister restaurant of "Uo no Umai Mise Iidabashi Honten." I returned for the first time since its opening in May around 12:30 on a weekday. The restaurant has a spacious interior with both table and counter seating. It was crowded when I entered, but after the lunch rush, it became more comfortable. The menu features seasonal offerings, including a limited quantity of grilled sanma (saury). In addition to that, there are grilled fish options like salmon and mackerel, sashimi and tataki of tuna and bonito, as well as fried horse mackerel. There are also meat options, including grilled chicken thigh and hamburgers. Set meals range from around 1,000 yen to over 2,000 yen, with the two-main-dish set priced at 1,400 yen. I opted for the combination of grilled salmon and grilled chicken thigh with Kaga miso. The grilling area is located near the entrance, making those seats quite warm (though they might be nice in winter). After about 10 minutes of waiting, my dish arrived. As expected, the grilled items took longer than the sashimi. The salmon was a thick cut, perfectly grilled on the outside with the inside thoroughly cooked. It had a good balance of saltiness and fat, which paired well with lemon and grated daikon for a refreshing taste. The grilled chicken was smaller in size, and while I didn’t taste the miso too strongly, eating it with the green onions and chili enhanced its flavor. The meal was served with Aosa seaweed miso soup and Q-chan pickles, providing a variety of sides that made the rice go down easily. Payment options included PayPay. After this fish-focused meal, I’m considering trying the hamburger or another meat dish next time.

I visited during lunchtime on a weekday, and this is my second time here. It was just short of being fully booked, but I was able to get a seat right away! Takadanobaba has a lot of international cuisine, so it's nice to have a place where I can enjoy Japanese food and fish. Today, I had the fatty salmon set meal! Last time, I had the fatty mackerel, but for someone like me who loves fatty fish, this was a huge hit!!! The richness of the salmon is incredible. I'm hooked! The next time I come here, I will definitely choose this again!

It came with a special clam kelp dashi; pouring the dashi over the rice for a chazuke at the end allowed me to enjoy every last bite, even though it was a large portion! Thank you for the wonderful meal! I also want to try the grilled mackerel marinated in saikyo miso with明太子 (spicy cod roe) that the person next to me was having. The restaurant just opened in May this year, and the interior is clean and bright! It's easy for solo female diners to feel comfortable, and it's bustling with a wide range of customers, including office workers, making it a very lively and popular spot.
