特盛ヒロシ
This time, a popular restaurant that has always been lined up in Australia is making its debut in Japan! It opened on June 30 in Omotesando. The restaurant is Australian, but the chef and owner is Anna Ishiguro, a Japanese female chef. The location is just a 2-3 minute walk from the Tokyo Metro Ginza, Hanzomon, and Chiyoda lines. The opening hours are from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM without breaks.
I visited the restaurant around 5 PM by myself. The exterior and interior are stylish and fit the Omotesando vibe. There are about five counter seats and three tables. I sat at the counter, and not only was the atmosphere appealing, but the service was elegant and attentive.
The menu is surprisingly different from the atmosphere, featuring popular rice bowls paired with tea! I didn’t know that! The selection includes premium Chinese tea, Taiwanese tea, Japanese tea, and organic tea from Australia. You can add a tea and dessert set to your rice bowl for 1,200 yen, which is quite trendy!
On this day, they had a 20% discount... it might still be available in July! Everyone should get in there quickly. You can bring in a flyer found at the entrance, and it’s okay to show it at the door. If it becomes too popular, they may stop offering it.
Here are some highlights from the menu:
- **Rice Bowl Set**:
- Rice options: White rice / 16-grain rice (+200 yen)
- A5 Wagyu Beef Rice Bowl (3,480 yen): Features garlic rice, A5 Wagyu roast beef, a soft-boiled egg, lotus chips, shiso, rice crackers, seaweed, miso, wasabi, hojicha broth, small side dish, pickles, and miso soup.
- Additional options: A5 Wagyu slices (5 pieces) +800 yen / Ikura marinated in soy sauce (40g) +800 yen.
- **Pairing Tea**: Yunnan Red Tea (+900 yen): Offers a sweetness and deep richness derived from over 100-year-old tea trees.
- **Premium Eel Rice Bowl (3,380 yen)**: Features soy sauce rice, grilled eel, omelet, shiso, sansho pepper, Gouda cheese, rice crackers, seaweed, miso, wasabi, hojicha broth, small side dish, pickles, and miso soup.
- Additional options: Grilled eel (1/4) +800 yen / Ikura marinated in soy sauce (40g) +800 yen / Omelet +400 yen.
- Pairing Tea: West Lake Dragon Well Tea (+900 yen): One of China’s top two green teas, known for its excellent leaf shape, color, aroma, and taste.
You can add a tea and dessert set for 1,200 yen, where you can choose one tea and one dessert. The teas include: Yunnan Red Tea / West Lake Dragon Well Tea / Organic Lemon Myrtle Tea / Jin Xuan Oolong Tea / White Peony Tea / Genmaicha / Hojicha / Smoked Black Tea.
Desserts include Matcha Tiramisu / Black Sesame Warabi Mochi, each 900 yen.
I ordered the Premium “Melting Pork” Tonkatsu Rice Bowl with 180g of upper loin (3,280 yen). It came garnished with sesame seeds. It looked amazing, with something resembling omelet rice on the bottom. Beautifully plated with colorful tomatoes, the tonkatsu had a nice golden crust and was wonderfully fatty and delicious.
Chef Anna Ishiguro, a former designer, clearly has a focus on aesthetics, ensuring that the dishes are appealing to guests. The taste was fantastic! The sweet and fatty pork cutlet was incredibly tasty. The breading was also pleasant, and the sauce had a unique flavor that matched well with the sesame seeds.
The rice and egg were delicious too! The slight sweetness of the sauce gave the rice a refined taste, making it a delightful experience to pair with the tonkatsu. Interestingly, the dish had shredded red cabbage under it. The miso soup and small side dishes were also tasty, and I was particularly impressed by the small side dish!
I additionally ordered the Black Sesame Warabi Mochi (900 yen). It looked different from standard warabi mochi and reminded me almost of coffee jelly, but it was distinctively delicious. The kuromitsu and cream on top were fantastic, providing a refined taste, and the kinako was also high quality.
The textures of the mochi were also unique, making it a delightful treat. Both Chef Anna Ishiguro and the staff provided great service, creating a very comfortable environment. The taste was wonderful, but the warm personalities shone through in the atmosphere of the restaurant. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for a great meal!
