On Saturday at 11:30, I went to "epais" in Kitashinchi. Although they have recently opened branches in various commercial facilities, this is their original main store. The unique feature of "epais" is that salt is placed all over the flat plate. I tried the "Porcini Mushroom Salt" with the "Yamagata Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal (1,100 yen)". A complimentary drink is included, with tea being free, but coffee and cafe au lait costing an additional 100 yen. I chose the "Special Extraction, Premium Iced Cafe au Lait". It arrived after 10 minutes. I took a bite of the "Yamagata Pork Cutlet" and it was delicious. When you dip the cross-section in "Porcini Mushroom Salt", the soft meat with the scent of porcini mushrooms gently tickles your nose. It's slightly rare but overall cooked through. The cross-section is a well-balanced pink color. Perfectly cooked. I added the "Shiso Mojito Dressing" on the cabbage. Despite its strong name, it has a subtle shiso fragrance, similar to a slightly sweet French dressing. For dessert, there was vanilla ice cream with apple cinnamon sauce, which helped cleanse the palate. The "Special Extraction, Premium Iced Cafe au Lait" had a rich coffee aroma. It was my first time at the main store in a while, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

My honest impression is that it was the best tonkatsu I've ever had. I ordered the set with loin and chateaubriand, and it was truly delicious. It was tender, and you could taste the goodness of the meat. The coating didn't fall apart until you put it in your mouth and then it melted. I usually prefer sauce, but with the separate salt dish, it was perfect. I want to go back soon. I also wanted to try the Tokyo X, but when I saw the price, I wasn't prepared to order it.

The deliciousness of stability... The visual presentation was beautiful, and this time I tried the Hirekatsu made with charcoal breadcrumbs for the first time. It was incredibly delicious from start to finish (*´-`) The fried seasonal fruit tomato was also incredibly delicious (*ov.v)o

On September 1st, I went on a business trip to Osaka and had lunch in the Kita-Shinchi area. It is said that around 210 days from the beginning of spring, which falls around September 1st, is called "two hundred and ten days." For lunch on the 210th day, I visited the popular pork cutlet restaurant epais, where reservations are a must. I arrived just before 12:30, and the restaurant was fully booked with reservations. Even though more customers arrived later, they were all turned away due to being fully booked, but the staff provided very courteous service and recommended other stores in the Hankyu Department Store. I was seated and ordered the Aichi-produced Tawara Pork set meal (170g) for 1,760 yen. I was surprised to see the special chilled water bottle that the staff poured for me, which contained various fresh vegetables in addition to lemon. I could feel their attention to detail and my expectations rose. The Tawara Pork cutlet arrived, and I was amazed by the rareness of the meat and the whiteness of the breading. It was clear that it was fried carefully at a low temperature. When I dipped the Tawara Pork cutlet in porcini mushroom salt and took a bite, the gentle and high-quality flavor of the pork meat far exceeded my imagination and spread in my mouth, leaving me impressed. The salt brought out the sweetness of the pork meat. Every bite of the cutlet and rice made me sigh in amazement. The homemade dressing for the salad was a basil mojito, which was refreshing, mellow, and wonderfully fragrant. For dessert, I enjoyed a vanilla ice cream with Darjeeling and apple cinnamon sauce, which was a fantastic treat. This unique and exceptional pork cutlet, along with their attention to detail in every item, exceeded my expectations on my first visit. I will definitely be returning in the future! I am grateful and moved by this wonderful reward of a meal. Thank you so much for the delicious meal!

Around noon on the same day, I called and made a reservation for 1:00 with 2 people at the counter. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a building in Kita-Shinchi. There are signs and menus at the bottom of the building, making it easy to find. The door of the restaurant had a sign saying "Fully booked for reservations today." Some people come directly to the restaurant on the day, but it's better to make a reservation by phone. I ordered the Fillet & Chateaubriand set meal (2640 yen). You eat it with the rock salt on the plate. Be careful not to order too much as this amount will make you full. The cabbage comes with a mojito dressing. If you want a rice refill, it costs 100 yen. Dessert comes with vanilla ice cream and a drink, with some items having an additional charge. The food was consistently delicious. I will come back for lunch again!

I was able to make a reservation on the same day. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere. When I arrived and sat down, there was salt already on the table with a note not to touch it. I ordered the tenderloin cutlet with truffle cream croquette on top. I was surprised by how tender the cutlet was! I could easily bite into it with my front teeth. The truffle cream croquette had a thick coating, not crispy. The taste might be a hit or miss for some people as it was quite strong. I also shared a Chateaubriand, which was also very tender. You could really taste the flavor of the meat compared to the tenderloin. The dessert ice cream was delicious as well. I ordered a hot drink after the meal and they served it in a lovely cup like the one in the picture. It was so cute that I couldn't help but admire it from different angles. By the way, if you order ice cream, it comes in a regular glass.

Today's special selection Hirekatsu (pork cutlet) Chateaubriand set meal 170g for 2640 yen. Topping: Deep-fried Kuruma shrimp for 840 yen. The use of Chateaubriand makes it surprisingly moist and tender, unlike typical tonkatsu, making it easy to eat without feeling heavy afterward.

Located on the 3rd floor of the New Hanabi Building in Osaka's Kitashinchi area, the highly popular tonkatsu restaurant "epais" is a renowned establishment that has been selected as one of the top 100 tonkatsu restaurants five times. The restaurant, which opened in April 2013, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The menu features a variety of premium pork brands, and their signature tonkatsu, fried at a low temperature to achieve a moist and tender texture, is a must-try. I visited the restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon around 2 pm and managed to place my order just before the last call. There were two other groups of customers, including a foreign couple, which is a testament to the restaurant's popularity. The atmosphere is clean and has a classic Western-style dining feel, while the service is exceptionally friendly and attentive. The staff, consisting of two men and two women, provide excellent service, making you feel right at home. When it comes to ordering, the staff will explain the menu in detail before you make your choice. I opted for the "Today's Hirekatsu Set (100g)" which came with shredded cabbage, rice, miso soup, pickles, dessert, and a post-meal drink. The attention to detail, including the selection of teas for the drink, was impressive. The Hirekatsu, with its vibrant pink color and crispy yet tender texture, was a delight to the taste buds. The rice complemented the tonkatsu perfectly, and the miso soup and pickles were flavorful. The dessert and drink were a nice touch to end the meal on a high note. In conclusion, epais is a fantastic tonkatsu restaurant with great food, atmosphere, and service. The "Today's Hirekatsu Set (100g)" was not only delicious but also reasonably priced at 1,320 yen including tax. If you find yourself in Kitashinchi during lunchtime, I highly recommend paying a visit to epais for a satisfying meal experience.

I made a reservation in advance and visited the restaurant, which was full on the day of my visit. About half of the customers were foreigners. This time, I had the 100g of hanger steak. The taste of the meat was exquisite and wonderful! The dessert ice cream (cinnamon) was also delicious, which made me happy. I had iced Earl Grey for my drink. The service was also very good, and it was a wonderful restaurant. Thank you very much. It was a feast!

The main premise is delicious. I prefer tonkatsu with just cabbage and tonkatsu only. It's nice to have it as a set with ice cream or fancy black tea, but I would prefer tonkatsu as a standalone dish. It's delicious, but I'd rather have oolong tea than fancy black tea. It would be great if we could choose between a set menu and a standalone dish. It seems like they are aiming for higher prices with the Nari Kurazukuri method in Tokyo.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. Today, I had the "Tawara pork loin cutlet & special sirloin steak set meal". I found the rare pork loin a bit heavy at first, but it turned out to be surprisingly light and delicious. The sirloin steak was, as expected, tender and juicy. I especially enjoyed the pickled cabbage side dish, which had a unique and addictive flavor. Thank you for the meal!

During the day, the area of Kita-Shinchi is quiet, and on the third floor of a building with various restaurants, there is a shop. I nervously took the elevator up and found the place almost full, but luckily managed to find a seat without waiting. Choosing the type of pork was a unique experience. I opted for Aichi's tenderloin pork with recommended black truffle and mushroom cream croquette as an addition. The rare-like state of the pork cutlet was seasoned with salt, while the cream croquette came already coated in sauce. The cream croquette had a strong aroma, which may not be to everyone's liking. However, it was delicious. I leisurely enjoyed and savored the flavors.

Today's special selection Hirekatsu Chateaubriand (170g) for ¥2640 comes with dessert vanilla ice cream and a drink! This was without a doubt the most delicious tonkatsu I have ever eaten... The texture was perfect and fluffy... I was impressed every time I took a bite!! The 170g portion was just right, but I want to enjoy it even more next time by increasing the quantity a bit!! The sauce on top of the dessert ice cream was also elegant and incredibly delicious ♡ I will definitely go back to eat again! Thank you for the meal ( ˘ ˘)♥

I made a reservation to have my favorite Epe pork cutlet with my cousin today. I ordered the fillet cutlet single with a cream croquette on the side. The beautiful pink color of the cutlet is very appetizing! However, it seems that the size of the cutlet is slightly smaller due to the same price. The croquette had a strong truffle flavor and was delicious! I also enjoyed the dessert and herbal tea, making it a very satisfying lunch.

First visit. I had always thought that the rare tonkatsu looked delicious. Although I could make a reservation online at Epe-san, I couldn't go because the dates didn't match, but finally I was able to go this time. I visited at night and ordered a course. First, I ordered a drink. Then came the prosciutto. It was delicious. Next came the shrimp fry, cabbage, and tonkatsu in that order. I wanted to eat good meat since I was here, so I upgraded. I prefer loin tonkatsu, but they didn't have TOKYO X loin tonkatsu that day, so I ordered the Yamagata pork loin and Shinshu Taro pork loin. The taste was delicious. They provided various salts for comparison. However, as I continued eating, the loin tonkatsu felt a bit heavy because it was rare. They also served rice and tonjiru at the same time, and I finished everything. Finally, I had dessert and coffee. The coffee cup was cute. I was able to eat the rare tonkatsu I had been wanting to try. But personally, I think I still prefer a regular katsudon. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and the meat is delicious, but what really stands out is the finely chopped cabbage and the mojito dressing that is poured over it. It's hard to tell if I'm eating the cabbage or the dressing because they both taste amazing. The seasonal side dishes are also delicious, whether it's shrimp, oysters, or tomatoes. If you have room in your stomach, I highly recommend trying them all. The tea and ice cream served after the meal are also very satisfying. When I ordered hot tea, they served it in a delicate tea cup from a Taiwanese ceramic brand, which was very impressive. I always end up ordering hot tea just to use that cup.

I wanted to try the Tokyo X special sirloin and special Chateaubriand filet, but unfortunately they only had the special sirloin available today. I ended up getting the special sirloin cutlet and the special Chateaubriand filet cutlet. Personally, I thought the pork cutlet was a simple and affordable option for gourmet dining. It might be worth visiting once for the experience, but that's about it.

Yamagata pork loin cutlet set meal double 3760 yen Bottle beer (choose Kirin Classic Lager, other brands such as Premium Malt are also available) 730 yen Total 4490 yen Yamagata pork loin cutlet comes in regular, upper, special selection, and premium selection, with the difference being in the part of the pig (premium selection is from the head side, regular is from the tail side). The meat quality is good, and the coating is thin and delicious, but I think the pork is cooked at a low temperature and then coated before finishing (sorry if I'm mistaken). I shared two pieces of today's special premium tenderloin cutlet with my companion, but I think the cooking method here suits the tenderloin meat better (I prefer the tenderloin cutlet over the loin cutlet). A dessert and drink are included after the meal (I chose Earl Grey ice tea for the drink, but it was watery, should have chosen hot).

It's been a while since I visited Epais! I had the Chateaubriand set meal at the Hankyu Umeda store before and it was really delicious, so this time I wanted to try it at the main store. I ordered the special Chateaubriand set meal today (with tenderloin, Okayama Sanukimusume rice, miso soup, pickles, shredded cabbage) for ¥2240 (including tax). The seasoning here seems to be only salt (one type), as there was only salt on the table. When I asked, they also gave me sauce (unlike at the Hankyu Umeda store where you could choose from over 10 types of salt and about 3 types of sauce). It was delicious, but something felt lacking. Hmm. Maybe I had too high expectations. I was less impressed than last time. At the end of the course, you can have dessert and tea or coffee, which was nice. However, it seems like they have the next reservation lined up, so they urge you to leave when it's time (seems like they have two turnovers during lunch). The two groups of Korean customers who came in after each other on my right side made me wonder if the restaurant is featured on some Korean site? It was delicious, but I preferred the Hankyu Umeda store.

I went to Tonkatsu no Epais for lunch. I made a reservation, but I arrived a few minutes late. I ordered the Yamagata pork loin & Chami pork tenderloin cutlet set (2680 yen). The lunch menu is cash or PayPay only. The salad dressing was a large leaf mojito, and the amount of cabbage was just right. They serve the meat without any sauce to let you enjoy the natural flavor. The Yamagata pork loin was a bit tough, but the Chami pork tenderloin cutlet was good. However, it was only seasoned with salt, which got a bit boring. After the meal, they serve ice cream with cinnamon sauce and a drink. Overall, I would rate it 3.1, but my satisfaction level is below 3.0. My main complaint is about the cleanliness and the service. The place was not properly cleaned, and the staff kept appearing over the counter, which was annoying. In my experience, high-end places without pitchers for water are not very considerate. It would be better if they poured water at the right time.

I visited the restaurant during lunchtime on a weekday. Reservations by phone are possible for lunchtime, and I made a reservation about a month in advance. The restaurant opened about 5 minutes earlier than the scheduled time, and there were two other people waiting in line. This is a famous restaurant in Kita-Shinchi where you can enjoy premium brand pork. The interior of the restaurant has 3 counter seats and 8 various table seats. There are no partitions between the counter seats, and the spacing between seats is wide. Although the space is small, it has a very pleasant atmosphere. This time, I ordered the "Today's Special Chateaubriand Set Meal for 2,460 yen." It was served in a little over 20 minutes. The visual presentation showed low-temperature deep-fried chateaubriand with a good amount of redness in the center. It weighs about 200g, but each piece feels large. The remarkable thing is the exquisite taste of the chateaubriand. The richness and sweetness of the meat were wonderful, and it made me feel happy. I did not feel heavy until the end, and the combination with porcini mushrooms and rock salt was excellent. Also, it had a good texture, not just tenderness. The coating was crispy, adding to the enjoyment of the texture. The dessert after the meal was vanilla ice cream with apple cinnamon sauce and a drink. Everything was perfect until the end. The quality of the meat was excellent, and I think the way it was deep-fried was also perfect. However, because it is deep-fried at a low temperature, some people may have preferences. Thank you for the meal!
