One weekend, I remembered a certain restaurant in Shinoro 3-jo, Kita-ku, where I had a late lunch. When I arrived, it was already past the lunch rush so there weren't many customers at the unique V-shaped counter, which was a relief. I decided to try the "Mousse Lo Mein Set Meal (850 yen)" recommended on the menu this time, as I recalled having the ginger pork last time. When the meal arrived, I was impressed. It looked like a Chinese-style chirashi bowl. The dish had a generous portion of fluffy scrambled eggs cooked in a soy sauce base, crunchy enoki mushrooms soaked in flavor, plenty of wood ear mushrooms, green bell peppers, and well-seasoned pork pieces that went well with the rice. To finish, I enjoyed the chicken broth with fried tofu, rice, and pickles. Personally, I found the dish slightly salty, but overall, it was a good Chinese meal that went well with rice. Shanghai-san seems to have good value for money. The parking lot is in front of the shop. It was lunchtime so I thought it would be crowded, but it wasn't too bad. The interior is compact with two tables and counter seats. There are many options like ramen and rice set or set meals with ramen. I ordered the Ankake Yakisoba for 750 yen, which seemed reasonably priced. The portion size was not large, but there was plenty of sauce. It didn't have seafood, but the noodles were soft from the start. The taste was like typical Chinese food. The sauce was abundant, so it was very hot. There was vinegar to cool it down. Towards the end, the sauce turned soupy. There was also a simple soup that came with it, making me full. When I paid, I received a 50 yen discount coupon. It's only 50 yen, but it made me happy. It will be a good deal on my next visit! The set meals or rice dishes with ramen would be too much for one person. I might try the Chinese bowl or go for the fried rice set or half Chinese set if I'm really hungry. There is also a ramen shop nearby that is known for its amazing Char Siu, which I'm curious about.

When I thought about eating Ankake Yakisoba, I saw there was a set with Half Fried Rice, so I ordered that instead. When it was brought to me, I was surprised at first. There was a lot of sauce on the Ankake Yakisoba. The taste was okay. The next surprise was how delicious the Fried Rice was. It was fluffy and the flavor was light and exquisite. Highly recommended.

This is Shanghai in the popular Chinese restaurant. I've known about this place for a long time, but this is my first visit. The interior of the restaurant has a strong Showa era vibe (lol). I ordered the fried rice set (regular soy sauce) for 800 yen and the ankake yakisoba for 700 yen. The fried rice set arrived in 7-8 minutes. Both the fried rice and ramen are of a normal portion size... It will definitely make you full (^_^) Taking a bite of the fried rice... it's just delicious! It has a nice fluffy texture and the right amount of salt, a typical fried rice from a casual eatery. The ramen has bean sprouts, green onions, and wheat gluten as toppings. The soup is light and refreshing, and surprisingly flavorful, making it a delicious soup that won't leave you thirsty. The ankake yakisoba was ordered by my wife. It looks rich in flavor, but it's also light and tasty. However, the portion is huge and incredibly hot! It's impossible to slurp it up (lol) I was worried about how much would be left uneaten due to the large portion, but... apart from a taste test, my wife finished the whole thing (OvO) She said that once it cools down to an easy-to-eat temperature, it's so refreshing and delicious that she can keep eating more. Today in Sapporo, the weather is refreshing. It's lucky to have outdoor work on a day like this. For lunch, we went to a popular Chinese restaurant called Shanghai that a colleague had researched in advance. Foolishly, 9 of us tried to squeeze in, but as expected, not everyone could be accommodated. Two people had to drop out. We ended up at a nearby yakiniku restaurant! I managed to slip in just in time! The portions are said to be generous, so I'm excited, but since it's my first time here, I decided to skip the set menu items this time. I'm just checking it out. There's a recommended dish, the ankake yakisoba. After about 15 minutes of waiting at the counter, the waitress brings it over. As expected, it's quite a large portion. And it's piping hot! The taste is classic Chinese cuisine, with lots of ingredients, and the slightly rich sauce is good. I eat it while huffing and puffing. Gradually, I can feel the skin in my mouth peeling off (laughs). By the time I finish, my stomach is stuffed. As we leave the restaurant, the waitress heads out for a delivery. This is truly a locally loved popular Chinese restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

A restaurant in Kita-ku, Sapporo, called "Daishu Chuka Shanghai"! I had the Ankake Yakisoba before and had a good impression, so I decided to visit again. This time, I tried the Chuka Don set! It came with Chuka Don and ramen, both in shoyu flavor. It was very affordable! The ramen had plenty of bean sprouts and wheat gluten. The bean sprouts seemed to have a strong smell that permeated the soup, which I'm not a fan of. The Chuka Don had a lot of toppings in a shoyu base, and it was quite filling. It had a home-cooked taste to it. This is what you can expect from a casual Chinese restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

On April 31, Heisei 31, I had a day off work and did some manual labor, which was tougher than driving work because I had to stand all day. The highlight of the day was going out for lunch with my coworkers. We tried to go to the famous restaurant Hifune, but it was closed. So, we decided to try the neighboring Shanghai, a Chinese restaurant. I was surprised because Shanghai is known for seafood, right? Anyway, we went in and I ordered the Gomoku Men set, which came with half fried rice. The Gomoku Men had a rich and flavorful soup with plenty of noodles and ingredients. My coworkers ordered An-kake Yakisoba set, Yakitori Don set, and Ramen. The Yakitori Don came with a choice of miso flavor for the grilled meat. The fried rice was cooked just right, not too oily. I recommend going to the restaurant early as it gets crowded quickly.

Visited for the first time in March 2019, this was my 19th visit of the year. Located in the neighboring North Ward of the East Ward, Shinoro seems far away, but now it feels quite close. I was intrigued by this Chinese restaurant in Shinoro. There are also a thick-sliced chashu ramen shop and a store selling mackerel flakes nearby, which made me put off visiting this place for a while. As a fan of casual Chinese cuisine, I knew I had to check it out. The interior of the restaurant is mostly counter seating, with many regular customers. The owner is in the kitchen, and there are two elderly women serving. One of them might be doing deliveries. I ordered the "Fried Rice Set" for 800 yen, a must-try item for fried rice enthusiasts. However, the texture was lacking, and the fried rice didn't quite hit the mark. As for the ramen included in the set, it was disappointing with no depth of flavor. The "Cantonese Men" for 700 yen was impressive in terms of portion size, with plenty of vegetables, mainly Chinese cabbage. Although the soup was light, turning it into a thick sauce worked well. The volume of this dish was truly remarkable. If you're looking for a reasonably priced and generous portion of food in the Shinoro area, this place is worth a try.

I tried the challenge over 2 days and there were a lot of doubles, it was hot and hard to taste! I enjoyed the fried rice with red bean paste added, it was delicious.

This time it's stir-fried noodles with thick starchy sauce and fried rice! It's a generous portion, but it was delicious and I devoured it all!

The restaurant is run by a husband and wife, giving it a traditional feel. I promptly ordered the Ankake Yakisoba Set that I had seen on TV. Since the husband is cooking alone, it took a bit of time for the food to come out. The set included a generous portion of Ankake Yakisoba, half a portion of fried rice, and soup. The amount of Ankake Yakisoba was impressive! It's a perfect place for those who want to eat a lot. The fried rice was also larger than what you would typically get at other restaurants. I was very hungry, so I hurried to eat the Ankake Yakisoba and ended up burning my tongue and the roof of my mouth. When I paid, I received a 50 yen discount coupon for my next visit. It was a cozy restaurant run by the husband and wife, and I left feeling satisfied with the portion size and taste. Thank you for the meal.

I was thinking of having ramen at Hideyama-san, but it was packed with people and I couldn't shake off the craving for a hearty ramen. Then I remembered a nearby restaurant that I was curious about! It was great that I could park my car in front of the restaurant, and there were already 5 customers inside, all salarymen. It's always nerve-wracking for a young woman like me to enter such restaurants alone during lunchtime. "Excuse me, is there a seat available?" I always say apologetically as I enter. The 5 customers sitting at the counter were all eating rice dishes. They seemed to be enjoying the zangi (fried chicken), but on this day, I decided to go for the Shanghai ramen, a specialty of the restaurant. The menu offered vegetable and miso flavors, and I chose the miso flavor. The quiet old man working there probably heard my order... He seemed preoccupied with something, maybe he had just returned from a delivery? He was mumbling about the Shanghai ramen to the lady in charge, which reassured me. The Shanghai ramen arrived, and it was indeed packed with vegetables, especially bamboo shoots. The miso flavor was rounded and gentle, with the vegetables adding a nice touch. Unfortunately, the noodles were a bit too soft for my liking, I prefer them a bit firmer. Is it always like this? You're not supposed to eat the vegetables first, right? But overall, it was a delicious bowl of ramen. I'm curious about the other items on the menu, so I'll definitely be back for another visit.
