In the town of Kamikawa, I was looking for a place to have an early lunch, but many of the restaurants on my list had a "closed today" sign. Eventually, I found a place that was open for reservations. It was almost 11:30 am, and there were no other customers yet. I ordered the soy sauce chashu ramen for 1150 yen. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes, but it looked different from the menu photos and other reviews I had seen. The pork seemed more like boiled pork, and the soup, although dark and rich-looking, tasted a bit bland. The pork lacked flavor and was too tender, almost mushy. The noodles were fine, but they couldn't save the dish. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I couldn't bring myself to finish the soup. Note to self: be cautious on Mondays.

Black Salt Ramen for 1100 yen. It was my first visit. They advertised it as garlic-infused ramen, but personally I couldn't really taste the garlic unless it was pointed out to me. The price is high, so I won't be visiting again. The soup was delicious. However, the noodles were not to my liking.

In November 2022, I visited a diner in Kamikawa Town. Last week, I saw many cars parked outside during lunchtime, so I decided to stop by and see if the food was good. It was just before noon on a Sunday, and there was only one customer eating fried rice. Looking at the menu, I saw options like pork cutlet curry and ramen, including black salt ramen and white soy sauce ramen, which confused me. I was looking for regular salt ramen, and luckily, I found it listed separately as "rich salt ramen." I ordered it and waited for a while. When it arrived, I took a sip of the soup and thought it was delicious. It was rich but not overwhelming, similar to the taste of Santoka ramen. The noodles were white and firm, with a hint of flour taste that paired well with the soup. The chashu was a bit salty but tender and tasty. The bamboo shoots (menma) had a normal taste, similar to bamboo shoots. Overall, it was a long time since I had such a delicious bowl of ramen, so I finished every drop of the soup. The coffee after the meal was self-serve, which was convenient. I left the diner feeling very satisfied. Thank you for the meal. By the way, Kamikawa Town claims to have the best ramen in Japan, but that's just self-proclaimed. It must be because they use water from the great snow to make the noodles and soup, making it undoubtedly the most delicious in Japan, right? 😉

Around midday, I passed by a ramen shop that caught my eye in a free paper and decided to try it out. I confirmed that it was non-smoking before entering. Inside, I noticed bowls from finished meals left on the tables. While waiting for the staff to clear them, I took a quick trip to the restroom. I sat by the window and ordered the salt ramen for 950 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The bowl contained thick slices of chashu, half a soft-boiled egg, three sheets of nori, and menma. The content was just about worth the price of 950 yen. The soup was a combination of animal and seafood broth, rich in flavor yet refreshing. The noodles were slightly white in color and firm, with good texture and absorption of the soup. The chashu was cooked at a low temperature, thick but tender with a well-seasoned taste. In the Upper Kawa area, it's nice to choose different ramen shops based on the type of ramen you want to eat. Thank you for the meal.

Black salt ramen with char siu and aged black garlic, a deep flavor with a sweet and sour twist in the soup, paired with soft white noodles typical of Kamikawa Town. It was delicious. When having lunch in Kamikawa Town, I usually go to "Kiyoshi Shokudo" but it was unexpectedly closed today, so I went to "Satsuki" after a long time. I had the impression that they mainly serve pork cutlet curry, but apparently the most popular dish is the black salt ramen. I was planning to have the pork cutlet curry, but ended up trying the ramen instead.

This is Kamikawa Town. It's time for dinner on a business trip. Kamikawa Town is known as the ramen town. There is a group called "Kamikawa Town Ramen Japan's Best Association" that is promoting the town. I had ramen at a place on the way to Kitami, so I decided to have it again on the way back. It's more like a ramen specialty shop than a drive-in. It's a strange time, but there were three customers ahead of me. I ordered the Black Salt Ramen for 980 yen including tax. While waiting for the ramen to be ready, I enjoyed a free cup of coffee. It was just regular coffee. It took about 12 minutes for the ramen to be served. I thought 980 yen was a bit expensive, but the ramen came with three slices of chashu, half an egg, and a substantial amount of menma. It looked like Asahikawa ramen. Let's dig in! First, the soup. The soup was quite delicious. It had a good depth of flavor and was easy to drink. The noodles were Asahikawa-style with low water content, but they were white in color! This is rare in Hokkaido. The chashu had a good texture and the fatty parts were melt-in-your-mouth. This chashu was really tasty. The noodles may divide opinions, but overall, it was a tasty bowl of ramen. Thank you for the meal. 2021 Ramen Review #82.

Recently, there have been many rainy weekends. I ordered the clam salt ramen and it was served in just 5 minutes. The soup, made with clam broth, lacks transparency. The light saltiness with the clam flavor is good, but the soup is lukewarm. The seasoned bamboo shoots are not to my liking. The seasoned egg is flavorful. The chashu is made from both lean and fatty cuts, but the seasoning is light and the fatty part has a slightly off taste. The noodles are close to white in color and have a medium thickness with a slight curl, which goes well with the clam broth. There is also fish powder for flavor variation. Thank you for the meal.

The Pork Cutlet Curry for 1150 yen is delicious with crispy breading and juicy, tender meat that is easy to chew. The Pork Cutlet Bowl also looks tasty. It's even better than the hot spring food (lol). Other customers seem to be ordering the Black Salt Ramen or Pork Cutlet Curry quite a lot. If I come back next time, I'll try the Black Salt Ramen.

I had the "Black Salt Ramen for 980 yen" for lunch during my business trip to Kamikawa Town on 11/19/18. I visited Kamikawa Town for a new product briefing. Today is Monday, but for some reason, most of the restaurants in town were closed. After wandering around, I finally found this place. I had to order the most popular menu item without a plan. The black salt soup tasted like ramen but for 980 yen... I'm not sure it was worth it. I'm grateful that they were open. The complimentary coffee after the meal was also appreciated.

We decided to drive back home through the Ishikita Pass from Kitami. When we got hungry, we found this place. It was popular for its "Black Salt Ramen". However, it was lukewarm and disappointing. It didn't have the intense flavor we were hoping for. The ramen looked more like soy sauce ramen. It was tasty but lukewarm. We also had fried dumplings which were hot and delicious, making the disappointment even greater. I think this town is known for its delicious ramen, but this one didn't quite meet our expectations.

A drive-in style diner in Kamikawa with a variety of menu items from ramen to set meals. During my visit, they had run out of rice so only noodle dishes were available, causing many customers to leave. I chose the popular Black Salt Ramen with extra chashu. The soup, made with black garlic, was surprisingly light and delicious, with a rich flavor that paired well with the noodles. The chashu was thick and flavorful, making the extra order worth it. I left satisfied.

On the way back from Sounkyo, I visited here and it was delicious as always! And the best part is, it doesn't give me indigestion. It's a nostalgic ramen that makes me want to eat it over and over again. Highly recommended.

The second most popular dish is the pork cutlet curry. It is a curry that has been simmered slowly. The cutlet is cooked just right. Next, I will try the fried rice.

I stopped by a drive-in along the national highway in Kamikawa-cho. I was surprised! The black salt ramen was a bit expensive, but I decided to order it since I was there. It was delicious! Even though I have passed by hundreds of times, I didn't expect it to be this good.

On the way from Wakkanai to Obihiro, it was lunchtime. We got off the highway and immediately saw this restaurant. There was also a signature from Ken Watanabe, and I ordered the recommended black salt ramen and fried rice. I was very satisfied.

The flavor is strong, somewhat nostalgic, like the taste of a drive-in. The staff is friendly.
