I finally visited the second location of Fushimi's Sichuan restaurant, where the chef moved over a year ago. Before heading to the Nintendo Museum, I stopped by for lunch, and was greeted with a familiar smile that made me really happy—it was so nostalgic! On this day, the recommendation was beef carpaccio, so I decided to try that. The picture shows half the portion. One half came with a sweet and spicy sauce, while I had the other half with a peppercorn sauce. Next, I was asked if I wanted eggplant, and I chose ma po eggplant. It was absolutely delicious! The eggplant was so glossy. I had forgotten how good eggplant could be! At one point, I really wanted some white rice, so I asked for a little bit. I debated between dan dan noodles and ended up finishing with the saucy fried noodles, which included boiled pork ears cooked in soy sauce—maybe they guessed I needed more collagen! It was incredibly tasty, as expected from the chef's skills. For dessert, I ordered some hot sesame balls (mochi filled with sesame paste), but I was too full to finish them, so I took two home. They also have great lunch sets, so I’ll attach the menu.

After being curious about this place since it opened, I finally made it here, even though it’s a bit far from the station. It seems to be the second location after the one in Fushimi. I made a same-day reservation for three people. The chef was handling everything solo, and there were three other groups of customers. I thought we would have to wait a long time, but I was pleasantly surprised by how efficient they were! The dishes came out quickly, and everything was delicious! Especially the crispy radish cakes, which were fantastic! The fresh fish carpaccio was a bit too salty for my taste. I’d love to try the spring rolls that weren’t available that day. The chef was also very friendly, which made the experience even better. Thank you for the meal! ♡

About an 11-minute walk from Kintetsu Ogura Station, the second branch (sister store) of "Bistro Sichuan Shokudo" opened in September 2023, located in front of Kintetsu Fushimi Station. Although it is the second branch, the original Bistro Sichuan Shokudo is managed by a disciple, while the chef himself prepares authentic Sichuan cuisine. I visited during lunchtime and chose the Sichuan Mapo Tofu Set (which includes a Yodare Chicken Salad, pickled mustard greens, rice, and soup) for 1,200 yen, as well as a standalone Tan Tan Noodles for 1,000 yen. I enjoyed a piping hot pot of extremely spicy Sichuan Chinese dishes. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I came here after spotting a lot of orchids while driving by. I quickly researched and found out that a sister restaurant of "Bistro Sichuan Shokudo," which I visited a few years ago near Fushimi Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, has opened. The casual yet calming atmosphere inside features a kitchen on the right side and 11 counter seats. It is managed by a seasoned owner-chef and a young male assistant, just the two of them. The menu includes sets featuring "Sichuan Mapo Tofu," "Dan Dan Noodles," and a daily special, along with individual main dishes and drinks. Naturally, I ordered the "Sichuan Mapo Tofu set." After a while, it arrived. First, as an appetizer, I had moist steamed chicken drizzled with a rich sesame sauce—delicious! Then, the main dish arrived in a bubbling clay pot. The base of chili pepper, soy sauce, and a hint of garlic paired perfectly with minced meat and silken tofu, and the numbing spice level was just right with a generous portion. The soup, enriched with finely chopped seafood, was also tasty. Before long, I finished my meal—sweating profusely! In the evening, they offer a full menu of authentic Sichuan a la carte and courses to enjoy with drinks, but it is a bit inconvenient to reach (sigh). The service was good. Thank you for the meal! A unique note: No shoes allowed, wheelchair accessibility is not available, there is a washlet in the back, and there is no parking.

I visited Bistro Sichuan today! This is the second location of Bistro Sichuan Shokudo, which just opened on the 13th of this month near Fushimi Station. I've been visiting Bistro Sichuan Shokudo since it first opened, and I'm a huge fan of their Mapo Tofu — it's incredibly delicious! They decided to open this new location while entrusting the original to their trainees. I ordered the Sichuan Mapo Tofu Set (1,200 yen, tax included), which is a classic set that comes with a salad of spicy chicken, pickled mustard greens, rice, and soup. My companion, who isn't fond of spicy food, ordered the Dan Dan Noodles as a standalone item. As for my thoughts on the food, it was as incredibly delicious as always, and I could eat it endlessly! The delightful spiciness is truly addictive. While the portion sizes have slightly decreased compared to the Fushimi location and prices have risen a bit, I think it's acceptable given the current circumstances. They will be open for lunch for a while, but it seems that in the future, lunch will only be available through reservation-only course meals, so I recommend that nearby residents visit soon. One concern is that there is no parking available and there aren't any coin-operated parking lots nearby. Nevertheless, it's great to have a genuine Chinese restaurant open in Uji!

I heard that Sichuan Shokudo in Fushimi opened in Ogura, Uji last September, so I went there for dinner with my son and his wife. We had mapo tofu, carpaccio made from milt, and a unique potato salad that you can't find anywhere else. The braised pork fried rice was incredibly delicious, and the dan-dan noodles were also tasty. Unfortunately, they sometimes run out of spring rolls, which was disappointing. There haven't been any Chinese restaurants in Ogura, so I'm very happy about this one. I would love to visit again.
