I found out that the owner who used to run Cocotte in Saienba, Kokura Kita Ward, has opened a hamburger restaurant in Shii, Kokura Minami Ward, so I went there right away. The location is along the monorail road towards Kitakyushu, just before Shii Station, take a right turn and go about 400 meters; you'll find it on the right side. A good landmark is the motorcycle shop on the first floor, and the restaurant is located on the second floor above it. There is parking available on the right side of the store, with spots #12 and #13 for two cars. You enter the restaurant by going through the motorcycle shop and climbing the stairs at the back. I hadn't seen the owner in a few years, but it was great to see he was doing well. I ordered the recommended "Colby Jack Cheese Burger" with cheddar and Monterey cheese. It took about 10 minutes to prepare after I placed my order, and the burger that arrived was a large, substantial one just like those I often see on TV! After transferring it from the tray to a burger bag, I dug in. To make it easier to eat, I squished it down a bit and took a big bite! I couldn't reach the patty with my first bite... but on my second bite, I finally got to the bun, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and patty. My mouth was filled with delicious flavors. The crunchiness of the lettuce, the juiciness of the tomato, and the rich taste of the cheese and patty all combined so well. The tangy sauce brought everything together perfectly. The meaty patty especially stood out! I'm definitely hooked on this deliciousness.

This is a gourmet burger shop that is completely dedicated to burgers. Originally, it was located in the fish town of Kokura, but now it operates in a rather local area. To put it mildly, the burgers are exquisite and incredibly tempting, making you want to eat them again and again. Sharing is not allowed, so each person must order one item! Neither Google nor Instagram has business hours listed, so it’s best to call ahead if you plan to visit. We stopped by during lunchtime, and they also offer takeout!

Bacon cheese egg burger - ¥1,820 + tax. This is actually my second visit. On my first visit, the shutter was closed, and I was turned away by a sign saying "Closed for temporary business." Today, the shutter is about two-thirds open, but there’s a “CLOSED” sign at the first-floor entrance. However, the second floor, which looks like it might be the store, has the lights on and seems like there are people inside. I thought if I got scolded, I could just run away, so I went up to the second floor and timidly opened the door. There was one woman inside. I asked, "Is it okay to come in?" and she replied with a smile, "Sure!" I ordered the bacon cheese egg burger, a burger with all the trimmings that gives off a special vibe. Because of that, it’s incredibly thick. I carefully transferred it to a bag, squeezing it down a bit, but it was still thick. When I took a big bite, my mouth was a mess. The patty is super meaty, and the lettuce is crisp. The seasoning is just the right amount of pepper—not Dr. Pepper or anything like that. Overall, it's a high-quality burger, but I think it would be better if it were about two-thirds of this size, just like the shutter opening ratio.

◉Genre: Hamburger, Izakaya, Fried Chicken ◉Area: Shii area, Kokura South Ward, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: 7-minute walk from Shii Station on the municipal monorail ◉Parking: Available ◉Credit Card Payment: Not accepted ◉Visit Frequency: First time ◉Review Count: First occasion On this day, I casually dropped by "Maeya's Burger". ◇Exterior and Interior This hamburger shop is located in the Shii area of Kokura South Ward, Kitakyushu City. It isn't very prominent as it’s set back from the main street down a side road, operating on the second floor of a small building. The entrance is accessed via a garage on the first floor, which is somewhat ambiguous—whether it's a bike shop or a private zone—but it definitely has the feel of an adult playground. Climbing the stairs to the second floor, the interior has a slightly American vibe. ◇Seating There are a few counter seats and table seats. ◇Menu Structure During lunch, the main offerings are hamburgers and fried chicken bento. The hamburger selection includes a basic version, egg & cheese, and bacon & egg among seven options, with a good variety of side items like fries. In the evenings, they have izakaya-style offerings on weekends, and I will include the night menu for reference. I ordered the following: - Basic Hamburger (1,300 yen) → Excluding tax. I've known about this place for a long time but hadn't had the chance to visit until now. Given that it was my first time, I opted for the basic option. This burger sticks to the fundamentals with a patty, lettuce, onion, and tomato. Overall, I would categorize it as an American craft burger, and everything is hand-made. Judging by its appearance, it guarantees substantial volume, best enjoyed by taking a hearty bite like a child! (laugh) The patty is 100% beef with coarse black pepper, making it wild and flavorful. The lettuce and tomato are crisp and fresh, clearly not wilted. This alone would earn it a passing grade, but the BBQ sauce is also great! It’s on the milder side, familiar yet harmonious in flavor. Moreover, the accompanying salad is surprisingly delicious… (laugh) With homemade bacon, I have to say the next order will definitely be the bacon & egg burger! ◆Strong Points Delicious and hearty hamburgers! ◆Service Average. ◆Summary This is a review slip-up; I thought it would be my first post, but someone got there just a bit earlier. (laugh) Personally, I'm looking forward to trying it at night as well. By the way, the fried chicken in the chicken bento comes with a sweet and savory marinade, making it a unique dish. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^
