On this day, I casually dropped by "Maeya's Burger".
◇Exterior and Interior
This hamburger shop is located in the Shii area of Kokura South Ward, Kitakyushu City. It isn't very prominent as it’s set back from the main street down a side road, operating on the second floor of a small building. The entrance is accessed via a garage on the first floor, which is somewhat ambiguous—whether it's a bike shop or a private zone—but it definitely has the feel of an adult playground. Climbing the stairs to the second floor, the interior has a slightly American vibe.
◇Seating
There are a few counter seats and table seats.
◇Menu Structure
During lunch, the main offerings are hamburgers and fried chicken bento. The hamburger selection includes a basic version, egg & cheese, and bacon & egg among seven options, with a good variety of side items like fries. In the evenings, they have izakaya-style offerings on weekends, and I will include the night menu for reference.
I ordered the following:
- Basic Hamburger (1,300 yen) → Excluding tax.
I've known about this place for a long time but hadn't had the chance to visit until now. Given that it was my first time, I opted for the basic option. This burger sticks to the fundamentals with a patty, lettuce, onion, and tomato. Overall, I would categorize it as an American craft burger, and everything is hand-made. Judging by its appearance, it guarantees substantial volume, best enjoyed by taking a hearty bite like a child! (laugh) The patty is 100% beef with coarse black pepper, making it wild and flavorful. The lettuce and tomato are crisp and fresh, clearly not wilted. This alone would earn it a passing grade, but the BBQ sauce is also great! It’s on the milder side, familiar yet harmonious in flavor. Moreover, the accompanying salad is surprisingly delicious… (laugh) With homemade bacon, I have to say the next order will definitely be the bacon & egg burger!
◆Strong Points
Delicious and hearty hamburgers!
◆Service
Average.
◆Summary
This is a review slip-up; I thought it would be my first post, but someone got there just a bit earlier. (laugh) Personally, I'm looking forward to trying it at night as well. By the way, the fried chicken in the chicken bento comes with a sweet and savory marinade, making it a unique dish. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^
