4-7, Kita 5 Jonishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido. Located in the basement floor of Daimaru Sapporo, directly connected to Sapporo Station, this tonkatsu specialty restaurant is affiliated with a famous restaurant in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, not the renowned Tonkatsu Maisen in Ueno, Tokyo. They have a kitchen space in the department store basement where they cook and serve freshly fried items. I visited around 7:30 PM on a weekday and found that there were only a few bento boxes left. The Hire-don (pork cutlet bowl) priced at 630 yen was a bit small in size, featuring a pork cutlet sealed with beaten egg. The meat was tender, without any unpleasant smell, making it very easy to eat. The dish was simple, consisting of cutlet, egg, and no onions. The seasoning was refined, but I felt that there could have been a bit more sauce soaked into the rice. The rice was a bit dry and lacked flavor, possibly due to me eating it around 1 AM after purchasing it at 7:30 PM. I would like to try a different dish next time.

Visited to buy snacks for alcohol. It's been about 1 year and 9 months since I last came here. I don't come to Daimaru often (・_・; This time, I bought 3 "Shrimp Cream Croquettes". The shrimp cream croquettes here are exquisite! They are incredibly delicious! I feel like I buy them every time, but the taste never gets old and goes well with alcohol. I want to come back to buy more. Thank you for the meal٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Tonkatsu bento box. The tonkatsu sold at the store comes with rice, cabbage, and pickles. The crispy fried cutlet is tender. Also purchased crab cream croquette and menchi katsu separately. "Tonkatsu Izumi Daimaru Sapporo Store" located at Daimaru Sapporo Store B1, North 5 West 4, Chuo-ku, Sapporo.

2020/10 Revisiting My Lazy Series at Home
On weekends, we always go for the affordable "tonkatsu" at "Wako" restaurant. Their cabbage side dish is delicious too. When I was in Asahikawa, I never had the chance to visit "Tonkatsu Izumi" restaurant. Let's at least try their prepared foods at the department store basement.
"Tonkatsu" - 700 yen
The tonkatsu is a bit pricey, but it's really tender, true to Izumi's style. If you're used to "Wako", it might feel too soft. (laughs)
"Curry Croquette" - 160 yen
Unlike frozen ones, this curry croquette has chunky potato with a strong curry flavor. It's spicy and really tasty. I like croquettes with potato salad.
"Croquette" - 200 yen
This croquette is also traditional with a noticeable potato flavor. Elegant tonkatsu at "Izumi" - no wonder they opened a store in Daimaru Sapporo.

I went to Daimaru and decided to bring back some food I wanted to try. I got a bite-sized pork cutlet and even though I only bought one piece, they gave me sauce and hot mustard! The crispy coating and refreshing meat made it easy to eat. Properly made pork cutlets from a good restaurant are really delicious. I thought it would have been even better if the sauce was a bit sweeter. Maybe I should have bought a pork cutlet sandwich instead!

I came here after a long time craving for some fried food. There are various types to choose from, but this time I bought 2 "Shrimp Cream Croquettes". I've been hooked on them since I first bought them. They are incredibly delicious. I could eat them endlessly because they are so tasty! They are perfect as a snack with alcohol! I always buy different ones, so next time I want to come and buy something different. Thank you for the meal!

A quick stop in the shopping area. It must be the first sale of the year, as there are so many people. It was a struggle to walk in the basement department store of Daimaru. Finally made it to Inoue-san, which was my son's request. Bought the take-out set of 9 and 6 sandwich packs and headed home! Had Inoue-san's katsu sandwich after a long time. The katsu was still tender and good as always. The right amount of sauce coating enhanced the delicious taste of the katsu sandwich. Thank you for the meal.

I visited to buy lunch. I was craving for their fried food, so I came here. This time, I purchased the "Pork Cutlet Bowl," "Shrimp Cream Croquette," and "Minced Cutlet." I returned home and tried them. The Pork Cutlet Bowl is delicious! The pork cutlet is tender and tasty. Surprisingly, there was a lot of rice, so it was very filling! The croquette and minced cutlet are also delicious. These were the items I was looking forward to! Just with these, it goes well with alcohol (laughs). I would like to come back to buy more. Thank you for the meal! 🍛

It's getting warmer and the workload is increasing, making dinner preparation a hassle. I decided to go to Daimaru to quickly finish shopping. The store is crowded with other customers who seem to have the same idea, some looking for sushi or side dishes. I stopped by "Izumi" where they have a variety of fried foods and bento samples on display. I bought the "Boiled Scallop Skewer Fry @310 and Menchi Katsu @280" to take home. After warming them up in the oven and cutting them in half, I shared the Boiled Scallop Skewer Fry with my wife. The taste of the Boiled Scallop Skewer Fry was light and not fishy, while the Menchi Katsu was decent but lacked depth of flavor. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, but there are other places to get tonkatsu that might be better.

2019/3 First Visit to My Home Easy Series - Daimaru Sapporo Edition
Recently, as it is just my husband and I, we often rely on department store basement deli for our meals once a week. The deli options can vary in quality and price. In the Sapporo Station area, Daimaru Sapporo and Tokyu Sapporo are the main choices. The deli at Esta tends to offer more casual options, distinct from the other department store delis. Our go-to deli is usually the affordable "Wako," but today we tried the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) from a tonkatsu restaurant in Asahikawa called "Izumi."
The "Rosu katsu" (pork loin cutlet) was around 700 yen, almost double the price of Wako's Rosu katsu. While Wako provides complimentary cabbage, Izumi does not. Both come with a special sauce, but Izumi's sauce is slightly thinner. The meat was indeed very tender with a high level of marbling. I've heard before that their tonkatsu can be cut with chopsticks, and it was true. However, when the meat is this tender, the distinct taste of pork can get lost. While Izumi may appeal to those willing to pay a higher price at Daimaru, Wako's tonkatsu is more than sufficient in my opinion.

I suddenly felt like eating fried food, so I visited this place. It is located in the Daimaru department store underground food market. I usually just walk by, but I suddenly felt like eating, so I came here. They also sell bento boxes, but this time I focused on fried foods! I bought 3 "Shrimp Cream Croquettes", 3 "Boiled Scallop Skewers", and 4 "One-bite Pork Cutlets". I went home right away and enjoyed them! The Shrimp Cream Croquettes are amazing. They are incredibly delicious. I could eat as many as I want. The pork cutlets are also delicious. They have a consistent taste! The batter is not greasy and easy to eat. The scallops are big in size! They are satisfying to eat. They were so delicious that I want to go buy them again. Thank you for the meal٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

In December 2018, at a certain car dealership:
Salesman: "Oh, chappytsum-sama! How delightful to see you today (*´∀`)♪"
chappytsum: "How do you know my username on Tabelog?"
Salesman: "We know everything about chappytsum-sama (*´∀`)♪"
chappytsum: "Then do you know my measurements?"
Salesman: "129.3, 129.3, 129.3, from the top, that is (*´∀`)♪"
chappytsum: "Those are Doraemon's measurements!"
Salesman: "By the way, chappytsum-sama, we are currently giving out "Okameya" bakery's bread to customers who visit us. Would you like to have some?"
chappytsum: "Thank you very much (*´∀`)♪"
Salesman: "I didn't know about Okameya, but it seems to be a famous bakery according to other customers. Were you aware of it, chappytsum-sama?"
chappytsum: "How rude! I'm a food blogger after all. But whether I know it or not... I thought you knew everything about me?"
Salesman: "Haha, you got me there (*´∀`)♪"
In the end, chappytsum unexpectedly received some bread from the bakery. However, being more of a rice person for breakfast, chappytsum doesn't eat much bread. So, he decided to buy tonkatsu from "Tonkatsu Isen Daimaru Sapporo" to make a tonkatsu sandwich for dinner and use up the bread. After visiting the store and seeing the high prices, he ended up buying a cheaper menchi katsu instead. The menchi katsu was juicy and delicious, and it paired well with the bread from Okameya.

My computer broke down, but some of the data was recovered. I can finally upload some photos. It seems likely that the virus infected it during the earthquake on September 6th. I may not be able to post reviews for a while, but this is not due to hospitalization. I will like and comment as soon as possible. [October 2018] This is my third review. "Tonkatsu Iizumi Daimaru Sapporo Store" is a takeout specialty shop for fried foods like tonkatsu in the basement of a department store. It is a somewhat upscale tonkatsu restaurant. The Sapporo Iizumi store has closed, so the Asahikawa Iizumi group is the only place in Sapporo where you can taste Iizumi's flavors. In the Daimaru Sapporo store's basement "Hoppe Town," various stores were offering "860 yen" items for Halloween. "Tonkatsu Iizumi Daimaru Sapporo Store" offered a "Limited to 20 per day Fried Food Set" for 860 yen including tax. I had it with beer at home during dinner with my usual companion. ■Limited to 20 per day Fried Food Set Halloween limited edition 4 types of fried foods Ebi Fry A standard size fried shrimp Price: 320 yen (tax included) One bite Hire Katsu Nicely fried Price: 290 yen (tax included) Menchi Katsu Slightly larger and meaty Price: 280 yen (tax included) Potato Croquette Simple tasting croquette Price: 160 yen (tax included) Price: 860 yen (tax included) Total for individual items: 1050 yen (tax included) The "Limited to 20 per day Fried Food Set" is a pretty good set. It's a good taste without feeling too oily, especially since it's early in the day. It's a slightly advantageous set. It goes well with beer and other alcoholic drinks. It makes dinner at home a little more luxurious. Next time, I think I'll go for the "Roast Tonkatsu 700 yen." It was delicious, thank you.

Located in the center of the Daimaru underground food market, this place is perfect for grabbing a bento box before catching the JR express train between 5-6 PM. I usually opt for a lighter option like a Makunouchi bento instead of the calorie-heavy Katsudon. This time, I couldn't resist and ended up getting one. It was freshly made and still warm when I boarded the train. This must be my third time trying it, and it pairs well with a canned beer. At 1,020 yen, it's reasonably priced too. It would be great if they also accepted Rakuten points and had an app for convenience.

On a holiday in June 2018, after finishing some errands near Sapporo Station, it was already quite late. Since my wife had no plans to prepare dinner, I decided to buy some food from the basement of Daimaru Sapporo store and bring it home. The curry was like the curry you would find at a soba restaurant, with a dashi-based sauce. I prefer my curry a bit spicier, but for a tonkatsu restaurant curry, it was decent. The tonkatsu itself was soft and tasty, even when it cooled down. This is the kind of meal you should have when you're completely exhausted. Just kidding about being overly tired! (laughs)

Even though I was in Sapporo, I decided to try the bento from Asahikawa Iizumi. I had the pork cutlet bento. It's perfect for when you don't feel like cooking lunch or dinner but also don't feel like eating out. The bento had freshly fried pork cutlet, giving a rich feeling while eating. Although the amount of pork cutlet felt a bit small, when eaten with rice and cabbage, it was quite satisfying. I should have also ordered a pork cutlet sandwich to lightly snack on. Thank you for the meal.

At 7:00 pm at DAIMARU Sapporo, the B1 food market goes into discount mode with each shop offering discounts. I stopped by to see the third generation of something and also to see off my niece who came to Sapporo Station. It was too much trouble to prepare dinner after that, so I decided to buy something at 30% off. As expected from being in Daimaru, the quality of the meat, crispy coating, and crunchy texture are incomparable to supermarket deli items. The quality doesn't seem like clearance products at all. My wife said, "It's better to eat a little bit of something delicious than to eat a lot of cheap food." Oh, I really want to eat lots of delicious food.

Suddenly received a call from my wife. It was unusual as we usually communicate through emails. Her voice sounded cheerful, which put me at ease. She explained that her mom's gathering ran late, so she couldn't prepare dinner and asked me to buy something. She mentioned that she was going out to eat with the kids. I decided to stop by the department store's food section on my way home from work. It was crowded as usual. I walked around and found a katsudon from Iizumi. I often eat katsu from Iizumi, but this was my first time trying their katsudon. I purchased it along with a side salad from a different store. When I got home, I immediately ate the meal while it was still warm. The katsu was tender, and the seasoning of sugar and soy sauce was just right. It was delicious, and I enjoyed my quick and easy dinner. Sometimes being a lazy housewife has its perks. Thank you for your hard work as always. It was a satisfying meal.
