It's great that they are open during odd hours. It was quite crowded. The hot towel that comes out first is nice. The omurice with coffee, miso soup, and pickles for 680 yen was delicious. The rice was fluffy and tasty. I would be even happier if the ketchup was a bit stronger. The miso soup wasn't too salty and tasted great. With coffee included, it seems cheap. It's a Showa-era coffee shop loved by regular customers. I came to eat yakisoba, but they were still serving cold ramen. I had the large portion of cold ramen with coffee and it was delicious.

The cobalt color is striking, it suits well with the autumn breeze in Kitami. I decided to try out a new soba restaurant in town. Even though it's Sunday, I had work to do in the morning so I couldn't go far, hence I ended up in Kitami. The town seems deserted as usual. I parked my car and stopped by a cafe to have a coffee. The cafe is quite spacious and has an old-fashioned charm. There was a couple inside, but the wife was alone. I wonder if the husband is usually there too. I ordered a pineapple juice from the menu, but they said they couldn't make it today. So, I settled for an iced coffee instead. The coffee came quickly, but it was a bit underwhelming in taste. The glass was heavy and the coffee portion was small. I finished it quickly and decided to head back as I had parked in a free parking spot for only 30 minutes. On my way out, I noticed a diner that serves ramen. Looks like I have another ramen shop to try in Kitami. It seems like the number of ramen shops in Kitami keeps increasing. Oh well, I guess I'll have to try them all eventually.

Last night I ate too much and didn't move much at work, so I'm not hungry. But I won't arrive at my house in Sapporo until after 11 PM. I need to eat something, even just a little, because there are no vendors on this JR line. So I decided to go to Cafe Cobalt, a nostalgic old coffee shop. When I opened the door, an old man welcomed me. It was 5 PM but there were no other customers. The antique sofas and tables made it seem like it used to be bustling with people. The clock on the pillar was stopped at around 12:35... so melancholic. I ordered the vegetable sandwich and coffee set, while my partner ordered the toast and coffee set. The pricing was strange, with different coffee prices ranging from 100 yen to 180 yen. Is this also part of the melancholy charm? After waiting for about 10 minutes, the coffee arrived. A madam suddenly served the coffee, not just the master. The coffee had no acidity at all, perhaps the beans were old. Soon after, my partner's toast arrived. It was thick and made with delicious bread from a bakery with butter. He said it was tasty. The boiled egg was piping hot. My vegetable sandwich had cucumber, tomato, lettuce, and mayo, light and delicious. It was a slow and pleasant time in a space filled with the kindness of an elderly couple. It was a fortunate coincidence that I ended up at Cafe Cobalt. Thank you for the meal!

It is difficult to find a place where you can rest or have a calm meeting when you go out. Finally, I was able to find one. The prices were reasonable, but the atmosphere inside was like a typical Showa-era coffee shop during the day and a snack bar at night. It was surprisingly calming and nice. Thank you for having us.

It's nostalgic~☆ I decided to visit a retro coffee shop in Kitami. Kitami's Showa era coffee shop - Part 1 - "Cobart Coffee Shop". Located on the second floor up the stairs from the Kitaitchijo Shopping Street. The spacious interior has over 10 booth seats and around 7-8 counter seats. Can accommodate about 40 people. The lighting is subdued, creating a calm atmosphere. It's truly a retro and nice feeling. The menu includes blended coffee as the main item, along with various drinks. The food menu is decent, with seasonal items like chilled Chinese noodles and hot pot udon. I ordered the "C set - Vegetable sandwich + coffee". The owner himself cooks the food. It arrived in 6-7 minutes. The sandwich with just tomato and cucumber is simple yet nostalgic. The blended coffee is well-balanced and free of any off-flavors. The service menu for food and coffee is quite reasonable. If time permits, you can spend a relaxing time in this cozy space~♪

◆January 2016◆ This is a café located on Kitami Station's North 1st Street. The store is on the second floor, accessible by stairs, with the menu displayed at the staircase entrance for easy viewing before entering. The interior is surprisingly spacious, with a mix of counter and sofa seating giving off a nostalgic, Showa-era vibe. The clientele seemed to consist mainly of regular female customers. [Menu Overview] The food menu offers light options like toast, sandwiches, pilaf, fried rice, omurice, and yakisoba. The service sets with coffee and cake sets are quite cost-effective. The drink selection is fairly extensive, with fresh fruit juices catching the eye. I ordered the milk crepe and coffee set, which was reasonably priced at 650 yen. While the taste was average, it's a decent option for a quick break near the station.
