I went out for drinks with a friend in Ikebukuro and decided to explore a new place. We walked towards Zoshigaya Station from Ikebukuro Station and stumbled upon a restaurant. Attracted by its delicious-looking seafood dishes and a nice atmosphere, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant has counter seating on the first floor and table seating on the second floor. The bright lighting and high ceilings create a spacious and open feel. With adequate spacing between tables, we were able to relax comfortably.
Here’s what we ordered:
- Two types of selectable appetizers (obanzai) for 550 yen (fried tuna, simmered seafood and daikon, two servings of egg white chawanmushi)
- A luxurious sashimi platter for 1,089 yen
- Toro-taku roll for 550 yen
- A clear soup with fish scraps for 440 yen
We started with a toast using the sake "Shuhou"! It was smooth yet crisp and refreshing. For the appetizers, I was pleased that we could choose two types for 550 yen! The options were spicy cod roe cold tofu, shirasu shredded radish, simmered white sea snail, fried tuna, simmered seafood and daikon, and egg white chawanmushi. The chawanmushi was made with just the egg whites, giving it a fluffy texture that melted beautifully in the mouth. The deep and rich dashi with a smooth yuzu pepper sauce added a touch of elegance. It was a delicious and satisfying appetizer.
The sashimi platter features ten types for 1,089 yen, which seemed to be a limited-time offer, so we felt lucky! It included sea bass, giant trevally, salmon, conger eel, mackerel, sweet shrimp, herring, tuna, scallops, and steamed sea urchin. Each piece was fresh and bursting with flavor. The sweet shrimp had a rich, flavorful head, which made the sake go down smoothly.
The toro-taku roll was generous in tuna, making it feel luxurious! The pleasant aroma of the seaweed spread in my mouth, along with the melting taste of the tuna combined with the crispy takuan radish pickles. A hint of wasabi added to its deliciousness. We enjoyed it with the clear soup for a truly indulgent meal. I discovered this hidden gem just a short walk from Ikebukuro! It’s a cozy place where you can enjoy delicious seafood alongside great drinks. The counter seating had an elegant and stylish atmosphere, making it a nice spot for a quick drink. I'm also curious about their lunch menu, so I definitely want to visit again! ( *˘︶˘* ) .。*♡
