Congratulations on the opening of Mokijiya's 5th location! I visited the new store, which has opened along Green Street near Ikebukuro Station's East Exit, next to Uniqlo and McDonald's. The shop still seems to be under the radar, as there were a few empty seats inside. Being freshly opened, the scent of the white wood gently wafted through the restaurant. The layout, similar to the 4th location, consists of counter and table seating, but there is a bit more space in this new venue.
As usual, I ordered the solo drink set, which includes an appetizer, three skewers, two side dishes, and two drinks for a total of 2,140 yen (it's quite a deal since you can get up to three cups with Hoppy!).
Appetizer: Ohitashi (blanched vegetables)
Skewers: Chile, Heart, and Kiku Abura
Side dishes: Assorted vegetables and four types of hormone sashimi
Drinks: Three Black Hoppy
The appetizer was a type of scallion, but since I ordered a vegetable plate, they kindly switched it to a blanched komatsuna. This thoughtfulness left a very good impression. The food quality was consistent with their other locations and very delicious. The Chile skewer was particularly creamy and tasty! Considering it will likely become popular and crowded soon, I recommend visiting now while it's still quiet.

It's just a short walk from Ikebukuro Station. Great location. The service was quick, which was nice! We ordered a variety of dishes a la carte for four people and had about five drinks, and it cost around 4,000 yen per person. Quite cheap! Personally, I really enjoyed the burdock chips and potato salad! I forgot to take photos, but I hurriedly took one of the spicy simmered konnyaku.

I'm sorry for not having any photos of the food! (laughs) It seems that Hayashiya is now the fifth location. I visited on a Friday around 6:30 PM, and I was able to enter after making a last-minute call to see if I could get a seat at the counter. You place your order via a QR code, and the first drink was offered to me right after I entered. The drink service was incredibly fast, while the skewers took a bit longer to prepare, but they were very satisfying. I left feeling quite full. While the drinks aren't the cheapest, considering the location, quality, and overall satisfaction, I think it's a great spot for company outings or hanging out with friends. Also, the restaurant is very clean!

I was able to make a reservation for Saturday at 6 PM, but it seems like there might not be many available. Overall, it was good. I felt the prices were a bit high per item, but the size and flavor made up for it. Everything seemed quite fresh. Personally, I appreciated the generous portions. The way they poured the beer and managed the service was excellent, and the appetizer made with grated daikon and nameko mushrooms was a nice touch. The restaurant also has a counter, making it suitable for a quick drink, and there were actually quite a few customers doing just that. Thank you for the meal!

Each piece of meat was large and very satisfying! However, it was a bit disappointing that all six skewers came out at once for two people, as they ended up getting cold. It would be great if they could serve them in two rounds, since it’s cheaper than ordering individually. There were many young people, possibly because it was early.

The draft beer and yakitori here are delicious! I was surprised that the yakitori seemed a bit on the expensive side, but it’s worth every penny! The rich, juicy yakitori, especially the heart and neck meat, is outstanding. The draft beer is also superb. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and reassuring, and the staff are friendly, which I really like.

I visited the restaurant with friends for a meal! It had been 10 years since our last reunion, so we got carried away in conversation and forgot to take pictures of the food. We were four guys and ate until we were full, and we were very satisfied. All the dishes were delicious, and good food really sparks great conversation. Not only the skewers but also the side dishes were tasty. The "braised" dish and "chicken with pickled mustard greens" are must-tries! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I went with three of my colleagues, and we had a great time! The skewered grilled chicken here is huge! The atmosphere is nice, and the side dishes are great too—it's a wonderful place! I knew the skewers were big, so I ordered fewer, but the flavors were so light that we ended up ordering more! Each of us probably ate about 10 skewers. It gave us a feeling of fullness that made us think we were at a barbecue restaurant. This is definitely my favorite spot!

It's been two and a half years since my last visit. The restaurant had transformed into a grilled meat shop, and I hadn’t had the chance to go since then. However, it seems they have recently returned to being an izakaya, so I found an opportunity to visit. I arrived just before 6 PM, so it was still relatively empty. I placed my first drink order directly with the staff, but now the snacks can be ordered through a QR code that you scan with your smartphone. Unfortunately, the solo drinking set is no longer available, but the total cost wasn't much different from before, so that wasn't a problem. The highlight here is the large grilled pork skewers, and I had four, which filled me up completely. What I find wonderful about this place is the thorough employee training—they may have many part-time workers, and some are still learning, but I feel more freshness than discomfort. Once again, I had a very pleasant time drinking here. It's also great that the payment system supports various cashless options.

This was my third visit to the restaurant. The route to the shop is easy to navigate, and although it’s underground, the spacious atmosphere is very clean. The draft beer is incredibly delicious, so I definitely want to have a glass as my first drink. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) are cooked one by one with great care, so it takes a little time to be served, but it was really tasty.

ꕤ︎︎ Visit date and time: Around 7:30 PM on a weekday ꕤ︎︎ No waiting time since I had a reservation! ꕤ︎︎ Atmosphere: Kigiya has several locations in Ikebukuro, but this one is uniquely located on the east side! It's in the basement, but the entrance next to McDonald's makes it easy to find. After visiting the west side location, I became completely hooked on Kigiya's yakitori and quickly went back for more! The complimentary simmered konnyaku was incredibly delicious! The menu seems to be mostly the same across all locations, and the yakitori was consistently amazing! The meat portions are quite large, making for a satisfying meal! While some dishes took a little longer to be served, the staff's friendly service made it not too bothersome. I was very satisfied with this visit to Kigiya!!! I will definitely use it again!

Just a minute from the Don Quijote at Ikebukuro Station's East Exit, there are plenty of izakayas in a conveniently located building that are always packed even on weekdays. I ordered a lot, but once the drinks started flowing, I found it hard to take pictures—this is the only one I managed to capture, a platter of skewers! Instead of choosing between sauce and salt, each skewer is seasoned based on the chef's recommendation for that particular cut. The beer was going down way too well—definitely a GOOD MENU!

The yakiton skewers are large and very satisfying to eat. The grilling is just right. The hearts were especially delicious. The raw meat was also tasty and had no strong odor. The interior of the restaurant is clean and very well-maintained. The only downside was that my drink orders were forgotten a few times.

The yakiton had large portions and was very satisfying! It might be necessary to make a reservation on weekends as it was quite busy. We made a reservation, but since we were just two people, we were seated at the counter. It wasn't a problem, but it was a bit cramped, and the chairs were hard, which made it uncomfortable after a while. I wish we could have been seated at a table for two, but maybe that was just a one-time occurrence.

I heard there’s a great yakitori place in Ikebukuro, so I went to check it out. It seems to be a popular chain with multiple locations in Ikebukuro. Looking at the menu, I noticed they have a strong emphasis on beer, so I ordered one right away. After tasting it, I thought, "Wow, this is delicious!" which really lifted my spirits. The sashimi platter that followed was also very good. However, I wasn't particularly fond of the skewers' grilling level and seasoning, but overall, I had a positive impression of the place. If it were closer to my home, I would visit regularly. I would love to go back if I get the chance!

It's been a while since I visited the Higashiguchi Station front store. I always order the jellyfish sashimi, and although the portion has decreased a bit, it's still delicious as ever. I also had the low-temperature cooked tongue sashimi after some time and it was really tasty. My top recommendation for skewers is the beef tripe. I enjoyed my meal very much and will definitely go back.

I made a reservation for Friday night. You go down a tucked-away staircase next to McDonald's. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious, and by 7 PM, it was fully booked. I ordered a draft beer, which was incredibly delicious! I initially thought it was just a regular yakitori izakaya, but the draft beer was top-notch, and in the end, I ended up having four pints. The yakitori was large and a great value for money. The appetizers were also generous in portion, and even the standard items had a nice twist and were tasty.

After doing some otaku activities around Sunshine City, I visited this place with my friends. It opened at 5 PM, so we were almost the only customers at first. I was a bit worried that the food might not be great, but the skewers exceeded my expectations. I especially recommend the yakiton (grilled pork) and buta toro (pork belly). The ordering system is done through a smartphone app, but if you ask the staff, they will take your order in person. It's also nice that this izakaya is non-smoking.

We entered the restaurant with two people shortly after 8 PM on a holiday. It was almost full, but we were lucky to find a table available. The restaurant is located underground, and while the seating arrangement is a bit tight, it wasn't uncomfortable. The ventilation was excellent, so there was no smoke or unpleasant odors, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Since it’s in Ikebukuro, the clientele is mostly young people, making the place lively and vibrant. Due to the crowd, the food took a little longer to arrive, but the first round of draft beer was served quickly along with a starter of water eggplant. The fine foam on the draft beer was a delightful touch. We ordered the grilled skewers (yakitori) with a choice of sauce or salt, and we received the liver, pork, and chicken meatball in sauce, all of which were delicious. The liver, in particular, was large and cooked just right. For the finale, we ordered a fried ham cutlet, which featured thick-cut ham that was deeply fried, providing ample portions. The restaurant on the west side is great, but this one in the east side underground has a nice vibe, making me want to come back again.

Today's dinner. When I think of Kikiya, I immediately think of their solo drinking set! I ordered, only to find out that currently only the 4th branch is available. They are gradually stopping operations at other locations. Well, it was a great value set... First, I had a draft beer for 548 yen. Every time I go, I think the same thing: their draft beer is truly delicious!!! They are particular about the pouring method, storage temperature, and glass washing. You wouldn't believe it's the same beer.
● Appetizer: 429 yen
● Assorted grilled offal (6 skewers): 1,309 yen
The six skewers included in the set are as follows, with the individual prices listed:
1. Tongue: 275 yen
2. Heart: 208 yen
3. Cheek: 275 yen
4. Pork belly: 329 yen
5. Liver: 329 yen
6. White: 219 yen
If ordered individually, the total comes to 1,635 yen. But by ordering the set, it costs 1,309 yen, saving you 326 yen! Kikiya is truly reasonable. Moreover, each skewer is quite large! Just this alone is enough to fill me up. Whenever I think of eating yakitori, Kikiya always comes to mind.

I have been very much taken care of by Kigiya during my student days. It feels so nostalgic. Kigiya is read as Hayashiya. I had only been to the location in front of the Art Theater before, but I was surprised to find many locations in Ikebukuro. Even though it’s a casual izakaya, the quality is high. I used to always order the low-temperature cooked motsu sashimi and the mixed platter of six kinds every time I went. I liked it when my seniors chose this place for drinking. Now that I’m older, I’ve realized that the selection of sake here is quite luxurious. But still, beer pairs so well. For some reason, the beer here is really good. Thank you for the meal! By the way, when I say I’ve been taken care of a lot, it’s not in a weird way, so please don’t dislike me. It’s about 4000 yen and only a 3-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station.
