At the airport, I had some udon noodles. The chewy noodles with just the right amount of mentaiko were delicious until the very end, making me feel satisfied. The potato croquette was warm and fluffy, very tasty. The warm and soft texture of the chicken tempura was delicious. However, the squid tempura was a bit overcooked and hard, which was disappointing. Thank you for the meal.

My wife saw our daughter eating pork miso soup and said, "I want some too." It was only 10 in the morning! I had the Tan Tan Udon with squid tempura, it was delicious and I finished it quickly. The White Sesame Tan Tan Udon was 590 yen and the squid tempura was 160 yen. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Food court inside. It's self-service, which is common. The food court is crowded with families and foreigners during summer vacation, but it's clean. The food is reasonably priced and served quickly, unlike other touristy places with high prices. The taste is familiar and satisfying, like something you can find anywhere in the country.

The food court at New Chitose Airport is open from 8 am and offers affordable airport meals. This time, I had cold noodles, rice balls, chicken tempura, and vegetable tempura, totaling around 870 yen. It was very satisfying. The udon noodles had a firm and chewy texture. Even when it's crowded, the food is served quickly.

I went to the airport for another errand. On the way back, I stopped by the food court and decided on Hanamaru without any hesitation. The warm egg over rice with chewy noodles was delicious, with a good broth and great toppings like sweet potato tempura, thin bamboo shoot tempura, Hanamaru fried chicken, and even spicy cod roe. Everything was a hit, but the best part is when the fried food is warm. Thank you for the meal. Warm Egg over Rice with Chewy Noodles - 580 yen Hanamaru Fried Chicken - 150 yen Sweet Potato Tempura - 150 yen Thin Bamboo Shoot Tempura - 170 yen Spicy Cod Roe - 100 yen

One serving of warm udon and cold udon with toppings. The small size comes with one serving, the medium size comes with two servings, and the large size comes with three servings. It was my first time learning about this. It seems like the one serving size is a bit less compared to regular udon restaurants. It's a shame they don't have egg tempura. I tried the chicken tempura and sweet potato tempura. The sweet potato tempura had a strong sweetness from the sweet potato.

I sent my son off at Chitose Airport after he came home. It was just past 8 o'clock and not many places were open yet. I decided to grab a light breakfast at the food court. About half of the stalls were open. I couldn't decide between udon and soba, but ended up choosing Hanamaru Udon. It's cheap and delicious. I just couldn't resist the tempura (laughs).

On my day off, I visited New Chitose Airport as I usually do. By the time it was almost 10 am, most of the shops were already open, so I ended up at the chain restaurant side, specifically "Hanamaru Udon" in the food court. I prefer Hanamaru over the popular chain Marugame Seimen. I ordered the "Cold Oroshi Bukkake Udon (small) @360 yen." The udon noodles had a good texture and chewiness, which I enjoyed. I like cold udon in general, but during cold weather, I tend to opt for hot udon. The price seems to have increased slightly, but at 360 yen, it still feels like a great deal. I hope they continue to strive to keep prices reasonable for the general public. I will definitely visit one of these restaurants again. Thank you for the meal.

Airport food equals expensive, this formula seems to be common nationwide, but it's different at New Chitose Airport. Those who have used it will understand, New Chitose Airport is a gourmet treasure trove, with a variety of shops. There is a food court here that is similar to those found in regular shopping malls. I had breakfast at "Hanamaru" on the 3rd floor of the airport. The food court offers a great view of the airplanes through large windows, providing a sense of openness. It gets very crowded on weekends after noon, so mornings are recommended.

I'm excited because it's been a while since I last flew on a plane. I didn't have much time, so I quickly had breakfast at Hanamaru Udon. They had a cold tantan udon fair, which looked delicious, but this time I wanted to eat vegetables, so I chose the salad udon. The "Rich and Delicious Salad Udon" costs 570 yen for a small size. You can choose between a sesame roasted sesame or ginger and onion dressing. Whoever came up with salad udon is a genius! It's perfect for summer. The slimy okra, chicken protein, lettuce, carrots, and fried vegetables make it easy to get plenty of vegetables. You can also see airplanes from here, so I enjoyed my meal while spotting AIRDO's Pokémon plane. Thank you for the meal!!

《June 2022 Revisit》As usual, I took my camera for a stroll near my home early in the morning. I was planning to buy onigiri at the airport for breakfast, but the shop I had in mind had a sign saying "currently cooking rice." Although the main focus of the store is seafood products, they also promote onigiri, so it was surprising that they weren't ready with food. I pondered for a moment on what to do, but there were plenty of other options for takeout. Alright! Since I'm here, why not have some udon! I remembered that I had been wanting to try "kitsune udon" for a while. I usually prefer soba noodles, but when it comes to curry and kitsune, I lean towards udon, maybe influenced by "Kitsune Udon" or "Akai Kitsune." I grabbed a tray and a plate, headed to the counter, and briefly debated between "karaage" or "toriten" before choosing the latter. Oh right, today was supposed to be onigiri, so I also got a plum and dried young sardine onigiri. Three items for 640 yen, much cheaper than ramen. The main "kitsune udon" was decent for the price, but slightly disappointing. I was expecting the fried tofu to be a bit more sweet and savory, so it felt a bit lacking. A similar system soba shop called "Ginshari" opened next door a while back, and I wonder if it's having some influence. However, this place mainly focuses on onigiri, with soba as a side menu, so it's recommended for those who prefer soba over udon.

New Chitose Airport, 11:00 on a weekday, I looked around to see what to eat but couldn't find anything that really caught my eye, so I decided to kill time by snacking at the food court. There are various options like curry, Korean cuisine, Freshness Burger, and Matsunoshin Genghis Khan, but I went for the reliable Hanamaru. I had chikuwa isobeage, Hokkaido croquette, and thin bamboo shoot tempura. The thin bamboo shoot was quite interesting, similar to the large ones but with a different texture and a good amount of flavor. The texture varied depending on the part, it was satisfying and had a good portion size.

I arrived at New Chitose Airport. Since I haven't had breakfast, I look for a place where I can have something light. It's still early in the morning, so I notice many shops that are not yet open. Due to airport prices, all the breakfast sets are over 1,000 yen. I didn't want a heavy meal, so I head to the food court. I decide to go with Hanamaru Udon. I order a small udon with a croquette. This combination is something I used to eat a lot about 15 years ago. Back then, a small udon was 100 yen and a croquette was 100 yen, so it was a total of 200 yen. This time, the small udon costs 260 yen and the croquette costs 140 yen, totaling 400 yen. Perhaps it's because of the airport prices, but it seems like the prices have gone up. The taste is decent for the price. I am satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I had some time to eat after getting off the plane, so I went to an udon restaurant in the food court. I ordered tantan udon with toppings of squid, shrimp, and fried chicken. The fried items seemed to be of poor quality and the fried chicken was too hard. The tantan udon was okay. Overall, I felt it was overpriced considering it was at the airport.

At this time of year, about a month ago, I went to Tokyo and did some restaurant hopping. Despite nothing special happening, I thought I'd share for fun (lol). So, this post is an extra edition about my breakfast at Hanamaru Udon New Chitose Airport branch. As of February 20, 2022, I would rate it 3.2. Around 9 a.m., I was wondering what to eat at the airport, and ended up choosing this place. Looking at the receipt, I had the Bukkake Udon (small) for 340 yen, Mini Curry Set (small) for 290 yen, Beef Udon (small) for 540 yen, Ebi Tempura for 160 yen, Tori Karaage for 130 yen, and Croquette for 140 yen. I had a hearty meal from the morning (lol). Thank you for the delicious food, Hanamaru Udon New Chitose Airport branch! Looking forward to the next visit!

I had lunch at the terminal building of New Chitose Airport after a long time. Instead of ramen, I went to the food court on the 3rd floor and had "Cold Oroshi Shoyu Udon (medium) + Isobe Kashiwa Tempura" at Hanamaru Udon New Chitose Airport branch. The tempura and extra soy sauce are added at a self-service corner according to your preference. I have used Hanamaru Udon at New Chitose Airport several times. I'm not sure how many times exactly. It's quick and the prices are reasonable, making it easy to use. This is the 4th time I have written about the New Chitose Airport branch on my blog. Past articles: Hanamaru Udon at New Chitose Airport [2012-06-28], Beef Onsen Tamago Bukkake Udon (Hanamaru Udon New Chitose Airport branch) [2014-10-28], Cold Oroshi Shoyu Udon at Hanamaru (over ten times) [2017-11-23]. The Cold Oroshi Shoyu Udon at Hanamaru was a bit nostalgic, but as always, it was delicious with the Kashiwa Tempura. Thank you for the meal.

We visited a newly opened gelato shop and had a meal before that. It was our first visit, just the two of us. We had the following items: - Zaru Udon (cold udon noodles) - small size for 340 yen - Salmon Onigiri (rice ball) - 120 yen - Goma Inari (sushi rice wrapped in fried tofu) - 110 yen - Ebi Ten (shrimp tempura) - 160 yen - Karaage (fried chicken) - 140 yen - Boss Iced Coffee - 110 yen We used a JAF coupon to get a discount of 50 yen. Since it was a quiet time, we wanted to go to a ramen shop but it was too hot so we chose udon instead. The food court where we sat had a view of airplanes. It opens at 8:00 am. I like zaru udon so I chose that. I also picked some toppings like onigiri, and since there was an option to choose half a portion of udon for 20 yen less, I went for that. The onigiri rice was salty, good for replenishing salt and preventing heatstroke. The karaage was a bit hard and cold, probably because it had been sitting for a while. The udon was freshly fried and had a chewy texture, and the inari and tempura were delicious too. It was a satisfying meal.

The dashi broth was really comforting. After indulging in soft serve ice cream, ramen, and more soft serve ice cream in Hokkaido, I arrived at the airport feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the food choices. I ended up at a food court and, even though I thought about trying something different, my body was craving udon. It wasn't like the Sanuki udon from Kagawa, but it was a simple and satisfying bowl of udon with a comforting broth. It was just a normal taste, but I left feeling content. It would be nice if they sold just the broth during the winter. The staff member was also nice and provided a relaxing customer service experience.

It's morning at Chitose Airport. The shops are not open yet, so I'm waiting for the 8:00 opening. In the food court, only two shops are open from 8:00. There are a few airport staff and passengers waiting. When this food court first opened, there were original airport shop products, but now it seems like they mostly offer nationwide menu items. I usually go for the small size of squid and fish cake tempura with broth poured over it. Hanamaru has a "small" size, so it's good for a quick snack or breakfast substitute. The taste is not much different from Marugame, but personally, I prefer the sweeter broth from Marugame. Well, it's from Sanuki, so you can also try adding soy sauce.

Before boarding the plane, I used the family area with my children. There was a children's seat in the food court. We used it in the evening, but the tempura was not replenished and the tray was empty. There was no lending of children's tableware. It's a chain restaurant, but the broth seemed thicker than usual? Or spicier? I wonder if it's because we're in Hokkaido?
