Lunch near ion. I wanted to catch the airport bus around 12 o'clock, so I was looking for a restaurant where I could have lunch by 11 o'clock. I found this restaurant through the local free paper "RAN", as there are not many food bloggers in this area and reviews are scarce and outdated, so local bloggers and free papers are quite a big source of information. It is located about 20m from the lottery sales area of ion, across the road, opposite the park. It has a discreet, hidden appearance, with a cafe-like atmosphere. There are counter and table seats, and it is more spacious than it looks from the outside. I visited around 11 o'clock to catch the bus, and there were no other customers at that time. The menu includes cafe-style drinks and a variety of meal options from ramen to Genghis Khan, rice bowls, and Western-style dishes. The staff consists of two older women. I was aiming for the hearty "Chap Set Meal" that was featured in "RAN", but I had eaten too much breakfast and thought the portion size would be too much, so I gave up. I ordered the daily lunch special "Omelette Rice" (800 yen). The two staff members cooked and served the dish in 9 minutes. The dish was presented on a slightly fancy plate, and the presentation aimed to make the rice delicious. The ketchup rice wrapped in thin omelette was a bit dangerous for a middle-aged person like me, with a bit more ketchup, but the thick, rich flavor reminded me of the cafe meals of the 20th century, and the abundance of fresh vegetables like shredded cabbage, tomato, and lettuce helped alleviate the guilt. The soy sauce-flavored grilled corn was a nice touch. The soup was also full of vegetables with a mild saltiness. The restaurant used to operate in Nakajima Town and moved here, so unlike amateur cafes, it had a sense of stability in terms of speed of service, price, taste, and portion size. With a wide menu selection, it seemed like a place that could be used even if you don't prefer the daily special.
