The lack of air conditioning was a major issue, and after about 20 minutes, I started to feel unwell due to the heat. Simply turning on the air conditioning would likely attract more customers!

The woman who greeted me asked, "Are you alone? Do you smoke?" and hurried me to the non-smoking section at the back of the restaurant. I ordered a "Morning Coffee @390+tax" and was served with a glass of water and a menu. There were two groups of two customers each inside. The smoking section was separated by a glass on the left side as you entered, and there were a few counter seats, a table for four, and a couple of tables for two. The staff greeted the customers in the same manner, asking if they were alone and if they smoked. The coffee was described as "Laos Arabica Typica" on the whiteboard at the entrance, but I didn't understand it well, so I looked it up online. The coffee is from the Bolaven Plateau in the Champasak Province of southern Laos, where high-quality coffee is grown in volcanic ash soil. The cherries are hand-picked, the pulp is removed by machine, and they are fermented for 16 hours in a fermentation tank to break down the mucilage without using water. The coffee is then dried thoroughly in the African bed, resulting in a sweet, balanced, fruity flavor. It is sold for 700 yen (excluding tax) for 100g. The taste had a slight acidity and bitterness on the surface, which I didn't mind. I spent about 40 minutes leisurely and left. It is a popular restaurant with customers coming in one after another from early hours. Let's go to the next one ... Thank you for the meal.

When I went back to Sapporo, I had breakfast at a cafe located within the JR Kuwaen Station premises. "Sapporo Coffee Kan" was founded in 1982 and is a coffee specialty shop. They roast beans with long charcoal (direct fire) and drip the coffee using a Nel drip. The "Coffee of the Day" until 11 am was from Honduras. The breakfast set includes toast, salad, and coffee for 570 yen. The atmosphere inside the shop is calm and has a classic coffee specialty shop vibe. It used to be called a "pure coffee shop." The wooden tables and chairs with velvet fabric seats give a high-end coffee shop feel. The table had a lovely sugar pot. The coffee arrived first, with a nice aroma. The Honduran coffee from Central America had a deep taste with a hint of acidity and fruitiness. Milk was served in a small glass instead of a pot. The breakfast set arrived with thick toast and salad with shredded cabbage and spaghetti. There was also a cute little pineapple. The toast was generously spread with butter, not skimpily. The moist mountain bread was possibly from a bakery called "Okameya" in Sapporo. The coffee refill was 220 yen, but I had to leave so I stuck with one cup. The coffee brewed with a Nel drip was indeed delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I looked around for a shop to kill time in front of Sogen Station, and found this shop on the 1st floor of a building near the station. When I opened the door, the atmosphere was quite nice. Although the lunch sets seemed to have good value, I wasn't hungry so I opted for a coffee. The specialty coffees were a bit pricey, over 800 yen, so I chose the house blend for 500 yen. It arrived quickly, but unfortunately it tasted like it had been sitting for a while. As a coffee shop, I expected them to pay more attention to the quality of the coffee. Additionally, the sound of clinking dishes was loud and disruptive, and smoking customers started coming in without a designated smoking area, so I left soon after. I wouldn't recommend this place to those looking for a good atmosphere and delicious coffee. It might be suitable for those looking to smoke while they enjoy their drink.

I ordered a Cafe au Lait for 470 yen. It was deliciously made with care. Time passed leisurely, and my mind felt calm. It was a bright and memorable cafe. I look forward to coming back again in the future.

Even though I wasn't hungry, I ordered the lunch set (´∀｀) which included toast, chicken and bean stew, cold tofu, sausage, burdock root stir-fry, potato fries, shredded cabbage, rolled omelette, and macaroni salad with coffee for 720 yen. It feels like a good deal, right?! The dishes were small portions but had a homemade feel to them. The stew was delicious, especially when paired with the buttered toast. It was nice to be able to eat slowly and enjoy the quiet time at a cafe that wasn't busy. Now, it's time to work hard until the evening! Thank you for the meal^_^

I remembered a previously unvisited coffee shop where I wanted to do some writing while enjoying a cup of coffee. Upon opening the door, I was greeted by smoke, which made me hesitant to enter. I ordered the house blend coffee for 490 yen, which the staff highly recommended as a blend based on Mandheling beans, known for its low acidity and easy drinkability. They also mentioned that refills were available for only 200 yen, which I found to be very convenient. The shop had a retro feel, similar to the one in Koino, with red chairs and classical piano music playing in the background. The coffee was served hot as promised, with a lack of acidity but also a lack of depth. Overall, I didn't feel the need for a refill after finishing my work, although the experience left me smelling like smoke.

Although it is technically a smoking area, the ventilation is poor, and the concentration is high, so the coffee aroma was not very noticeable. I've been to all the places around here, so maybe I should just go to the mall.. There, on the building next to the station square? I see the words "SAPPORO COFFEE KAN"! Come to think of it.. I've never been there before. So, today's lunch is at "Sapporo Coffee Kan JR Kuwanazono Station Front Store". The inside of the restaurant is divided into smoking and non-smoking areas. However.. the non-smoking section was full on this day (^_^;) Since lunchtime is short, I'll endure the smoking area. I choose from the daily "Western set" menu. Hamburger curry or minestrone.. I remember saying I'll have curry for dinner today.. so I'll go with the minestrone. It comes with coffee for 720 yen, is that a good deal? (laughs) It was served in less than 10 minutes. Alright, let's dig in.. kabo-cha! Is this enough for you? I joke with myself (laughs) Well.. I'll have some snacks later, so it's fine. The minestrone has a strong garlic aroma. It's not very acidic from the tomatoes. It's filled with meatballs, meat, potatoes, carrots, onions.. lots of ingredients. The bread is thick and fluffy, generously spread with butter. The side dishes include.. mini tofu, rolled omelette, Vienna sausage, shumai, sauteed burdock?.. and a salad. The post-meal coffee is a deep roasted blend.. almost no acidity, a coffee to my liking. Overall, I think it's delicious. In terms of portion size, it might be more suitable for women? Would I visit again? It's a "maybe".... Thank you for the meal!!

I had sushi at a nearby revolving sushi restaurant after a long time, and on my way back to AEON, I suddenly saw the word "coffee" ... and lo and behold, it was my beloved "Sapporo Coffee Shop"! Of course, I had to go in. I can't believe I didn't notice it before. The interior of the shop is relatively old-fashioned, with a non-smoking area on the left as you enter and the rest of the counter seats and table seats allowing smoking. Looking at the menu, the price of the "Blend Coffee (470 yen)" was a bit shocking (pot service), but I couldn't just leave, so I decided to go for the French-style Mocha French and French Roast, and after a detailed discussion with the elegant and charming voice of the waitress, I ordered the "Mocha French (780 yen)". The handwritten menu gave a different feel compared to other Sapporo Coffee Shops. A cup and a large pot were brought out, and I took a sip... Hmm! It's not the usual French taste, at first it does have the bitterness of French, but at the same time, there is a complex astringency? It may sound strange, but it felt a bit medicinal, and I pondered to myself, "Is this Mocha?" However, as I got used to this complex taste, I started to enjoy the increasing sweetness over time. The amount in the pot is about three cups, so when you divide it by three, it's not that much after all. I feel satisfied with my decision.
