The official name is Yoshi Sushi. It is a long-established restaurant that has been operating for 50 years in Chuocho, Muroran City. The location is very easy to find, just across the pedestrian crossing from the small park. The shop is open from around 11:30 am to 4 pm, mainly for takeout. Of course, dining in the restaurant is also welcome, with the warm hospitality of the 80-year-old master and the 70-year-old staff. During lunchtime, the regular sushi set with soup is available for 1,100 yen per person and is delicious. My favorite is the shrimp nigiri, which is sweet. The perfect balance of the rice and toppings is a result of the skilled craftsmanship of the chef, different from conveyor belt sushi. The premium sushi set for 2,200 yen is also recommended. It's a casual and affordable sushi restaurant where you can easily drop in.

I remembered a nostalgic restaurant from the post by Mr. Kuraso. It reminds me of the good old days when Central Street was still lively (laughs). I used to be treated by my seniors and clients quite often. When eating alone, I would always go for the regular raw sushi! I think it was 800 yen back then, 30 years ago. The master is now over 80 years old, his wife and the specialized monk's sister-in-law, and the building itself show signs of aging, reflecting the passage of time. But it's still going strong! The tofu in the soup is delicious, and of course, the sushi too! I hope this restaurant continues to thrive for a long time to come! Lunch was 1,100 yen. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

This is Chuocho, Muroran. The restaurant of the day is Yoshizushi. It's a 4-minute walk from Muroran Station. In its heyday, there were over 50 sushi restaurants in Chuocho. Now, there are only two left, Yoshizushi and Minoru Sushi. On this day, the cafe I planned to go to for lunch was closed, so I wandered around and was drawn in by the curtain at Yoshizushi. There are 6 seats at the counter and one raised seating area. It has a cozy feel like a small sushi restaurant in a town. The set menu includes 3 types of nigiri sushi, chirashi sushi, and rolls. I decided to go with the following: - Nigiri Sushi (Upper) @ 2200 The first set included tuna, botan shrimp, and pickled mackerel. The rice was slightly larger, providing a satisfying bite. The tuna and botan shrimp were tender, while the pickled mackerel had a lightly vinegared taste which I enjoyed. The second set included scallop, salmon, and surf clam. The scallop and surf clam had a rich flavor typical of shellfish. The salmon was okay. A simple miso soup with seaweed and tofu was served. The gunkan sushi included cod roe, flying fish roe, and salmon roe. The cod roe was surprisingly not too salty and had a refined taste. The salmon roe was nicely marinated and deliciously sticky. The flying fish roe was average. Lastly, there was cucumber roll and tamagoyaki. The botan shrimp was a complimentary extra. The cucumber rolls were intricately cut, each with a different texture. The tamagoyaki was sweet and delicious. I love tamagoyaki at sushi restaurants. The chef brought out freshly cooked tamagoyaki right before I left. It was fluffy and felt like a completely different dish from the chilled one. It was incredibly delicious! After finishing my meal, I chatted with the chef. He has been making sushi here for over 50 years. Originally from Ishikari, he came to Muroran as a young helper and fell in love with the town. He couldn't bear to leave, so he found another job in town and eventually took over this restaurant. I totally understand that feeling. I've been on a business trip here for the whole year, and I've grown so fond of this town that I don't want to leave. I worked hard to secure a big contract for next year, so I'll be a Muroran resident next year! I enjoyed my lunch, but I'll definitely come back for dinner next time! Thank you for the meal!

Lunch near the city hall. This restaurant has been highly praised among lunch bloggers in Muroran. Although it doesn't seem to be very popular on Tabelog, I decided to give it a try. First visit: I didn't have the chance to visit for lunch, so I went for dinner instead. I ordered alcohol at the counter, but the owner said they were out of stock. When I tried to order beer, the hostess said they didn't have any. I wasn't sure if it was a sober establishment or just a coincidence, but it didn't seem like the right place for me, so I apologized and left. Second visit, 5 months later: I was waiting for another restaurant to open, but it was taking longer than expected. I decided to check out this nearby restaurant, and it was open. There were no other customers, just an older tough-looking master and a younger senior craftsman behind the counter. They quickly brought me a hot towel and tea. The menu started at 1100 yen, but I ordered the "lunch" (100 yen) which wasn't on the menu, based on the blogger's recommendation. They served miso soup first, and then the master skillfully prepared nigiri sushi for me. The sushi included tuna, shrimp, mackerel, squid, octopus, salmon, tobiko gunkan, tarako gunkan, and tamagoyaki. The portion wasn't large, but with 9 pieces of sushi, rolls, and tamagoyaki, it was quite satisfying. The tuna and tamagoyaki were particularly delicious. There was a small mishap with one of the sushi rolls falling off the plate, but the master replaced it with an extra roll as a gesture of goodwill. It was a true artisan's touch. Overall, the experience was positive, especially for lunch.

In front of your eyes, the head chef will make sushi for you. The taste and portion size are great for a lunch price of 1100 yen!
