Overview:
- Azabudai Hills, Tower Plaza 3F
- Counter: 4 seats, Table: 30 seats
- Ahilya, a famous restaurant from Yoyogi, now in Azabudai Hills
- A compact establishment where you can enjoy both Northern and Southern Indian cuisine
Visit Date:
Weekday, around 5:30 PM, right after opening for dinner. No wait, no customers ahead, and a steady flow of customers arriving afterward. By the time I left, the restaurant was about 70% full (mostly tourists).
Order:
Kachumber Salad
Masala Dosa (Masala Dosa, Rasam, Sambhar, Coconut Chutney, Tomato Chutney)
Taste:
Kachumber Salad → A salad made with cucumber, onion, and tomato mixed with spices. Spicy with plenty of chili, and the cucumber and onion make it refreshing and light.
Masala Dosa → A dosa with a moist texture. The potato filling has a mild amount of masala spice and a comforting flavor. It's meant to be "torn," "wrapped," and "dipped in chutney." The chutney has a classic flavor.
- Rasam has a good tamarind flavor and is not overly spicy, making it easy to drink.
- Sambhar is thinner with fewer beans, and has a tangy flavor, almost making it feel like a variant of Rasam. This is tasty in its own right.
Impressions:
Had an early dinner at Azabudai Hills. Many restaurants are closed on Wednesdays, but at 5:30 PM, I found I could enter most places. To keep it light, I chose the well-known modern Indian restaurant "Ahilya." The dinner menu primarily features à la carte options, including a variety of appetizers, tandoor dishes, curries, biryanis, and more, which made it hard to decide. The staff were all friendly with warm smiles, and their attentive service was appreciated. They sent me off with a “big smile” at the end. I enjoyed a delightful dinner, and it was delicious.
