Visited for the first time on June 2nd. I was looking forward to trying the fried rice (I'm a fried rice maniac ♡ ̖́-). I ordered three dishes out of curiosity: fried rice, salt ramen, and salmon steamed rice. First, the fried rice and ramen arrived. The fried rice was moist rather than dry, with a salt-based flavor and no unnecessary ingredients like pork or onions, which I liked. The salt ramen was nostalgic, with few toppings and a light salt flavor, reminiscent of ramen from a set meal restaurant. And then, the steamed rice arrived! The steamed container was lovely ♡ ̖́- The hot steamed rice, salmon, shiso leaf, and bamboo shoots were delicious. Even though I usually don't have much of an appetite in the morning or afternoon, I couldn't help but exclaim how tasty it was after just one bite. The bamboo shoots had a rich flavor, the steamed rice was chewy, and the saltiness of the salmon and the accent of the shiso leaf were perfect. I thought that if I ever came to Kitami again, I would definitely come back! So, when I had the chance to visit Kitami again on June 26th, I went for a second visit. However, this time the salmon steamed rice was sold out ( •︠ˍ•︡ ). Since the salmon steamed rice was a big hit last time, I ordered the shrimp steamed rice and oyster steamed rice with soy sauce ramen instead. The soy sauce ramen was consistently delicious. The shrimp and oyster steamed rice was different from what I had imagined. I didn't expect it to be fried. Both the shrimp and oyster were plump and went perfectly with the steamed rice, but the impact of the salmon steamed rice was too strong (°‪꒳°). Next time, I definitely want to try the salmon steamed rice ( ¯ᵕ¯)♡ Thank you for the delicious meal!

The omurice at this place is simple and delicious. I sometimes crave it. They make it after you order, wrapping a solid ketchup chicken rice with a generous amount of ketchup in a smooth egg. While variations with omelettes or other toppings are nice, sometimes you just want a plain, ordinary omurice. This restaurant is known for their tasty gyoza and kamameshi, but I believe the omurice is truly outstanding.

It's Bon season and I came to Kitami alone. I plan to start my journey from tomorrow, but today I'm alone and there are many things to do, yet I came to Kitami to eat ramen. I'm worried about gaining weight from tomorrow onwards, but today I'm aiming for the food hall. I found Ayaka Shokudo, but I wasn't sure if it was open due to the Bon season. When I arrived, the curtain was not hung. According to the information, it opens at 11:00, so I thought about coming back after 11:30. When I came back at 11:40, the curtain was already up. I was relieved and went inside, but there was no one there. I took a picture and waited. The phone started ringing, a black phone, really? It was a nostalgic black phone. The sound was the same as the phone rang. The lady seemed apologetic as she answered the phone. I ordered the salt ramen and waited. The ramen cost 550 yen. I sat at the counter, which had five chairs, and there was one chair at a student desk. There were also two tables in a raised area. It's not new, but it's kept clean. The lady prepared something, and then turned on the TV. There was a man shouting from outside, what's going on? Workplace harassment? Domestic violence? I started to get curious, and then the TV was turned on. I got confused. However, it's still going on. The ramen arrived, and it looked like a one-sided argument, with the man attacking. The toppings were topped with a boiled egg. I like eggs, but maybe it's better without it. The noodles were old-fashioned white noodles, slightly thick and uneven in length, with some soba mixed in. Why? I was the first customer, but the Naruto and menma were lightly seasoned. The green onions were also seasoned. The lady came to pick up the container for the seafood ball. It was interesting, like ordering takeout at a restaurant. The chashu was a big roll, lightly seasoned and delicious. I'll eat this kind of thing. The soba was bothering me, but I didn't order soba. As for the soup, I don't feel like talking about it. It's light and lacks saltiness. It doesn't have any umami. I don't know what to do. It's a dilemma. The lady is nice, but there's really nothing to evaluate. As a bonus, 2.5. The aftertaste is artificial. The lady is doing her best. Well, I'll give it a try again.

This is a restaurant on Kitago Street. I heard it opens at 11 o'clock, but when I arrived, the curtain was not up. I decided to change my plans and take a break at a nearby cafe before going back. Luckily, when I returned, the curtain had just been put up. I was told that the engine wouldn't start due to the extreme cold. The menu caught my eye, especially the specialty "wappa meshi." They also offer ramen, curry, Chinese dishes, rice bowls, and omurice. I ordered the wappa meshi with oysters, along with some fried chicken and shumai. While waiting, I looked it up and found out that wappa meshi is a dish from Niigata. It comes with four types of toppings: salmon, quail, shrimp, and oysters. When the wappa meshi arrived, I found the oysters to be juicy and quite delicious. However, I thought it might be even better if made into an oyster fry bowl or mixed with rice. The fried chicken looked oily but had a refreshing ginger flavor on the meat. The shumai was just average. At 500 yen, it was quite affordable. The lady running the place was friendly and kind, which left a good impression. Overall, the prices were reasonable. I would like to try the omurice or curry next time.

I went to eat an extra large portion of omurice with salad and gyoza. The omurice had a bit more meat than usual, and it felt like a high-quality version of the one you would make at home. The gyoza was probably homemade, and it had a homemade taste to it. The restaurant is run by a friendly female owner and has a nostalgic atmosphere. It's a great place. I want to try their ramen next time! (*゚∀゚*)

It's a diner located slightly off the bustling street. I had known about it for a while but hesitated to go in... Recently, the exterior was renovated, so I gathered up the courage to check it out. It's called "Saika Shokudo." As expected, the interior looked a bit old. It was past 1 PM and there was no one inside. No customers, no staff. I called out "Excuse me" twice, and then a lady appeared from the back. She greeted me warmly. She poured me a generous cup of roasted green tea. The menu offers set meals, rice bowls, noodles, and more. The "Special Wappa Rice" at the top caught my eye, but I decided to go for the "Salt Ramen" priced at 550 yen. The broth was light and lacked depth. It seemed like a commercial product. The noodles were perfectly average, probably Nishiyama brand. The thinly sliced chashu was sweet and savory. The toppings included menma, naruto, and green onions. It was a typical diner ramen. The kind lady made me feel welcome, so I wouldn't mind going back again. Next time, I'll try something other than ramen. (*´ω`*)

I used to frequent this business hotel near here for work. Every time I passed by the restaurant, I would hesitate whether to go in or not... Finally, I made up my mind and went in. The restaurant has 4 counter seats, 2 tables for 4 people, and 2 table seats in the tatami room. It looks surprisingly spacious from the outside. However, unfortunately, it is not well-maintained... to put it bluntly, it's dirty. The tables are not wiped clean after the previous customers, and the smell of cigarette butts fills the air because they are not disposed of. It's really disappointing. Trying to change my mindset... I looked at the menu. They offer rice bowls, Chinese and Western dishes, and ramen. They have a dish called "Famous Wappa Meshi". What is Wappa Meshi? I ordered it to find out. I ate it... I don't have a clear definition or standard in my mind, so I find it hard to evaluate. It's neither good nor bad. I see potential in the menu, but... I just wish they would provide a pleasant dining environment.
