Muroran, Nakajimacho. Today's shop is Yasubei. It is located in a small alley in the bustling area of Nakajima. It's a familiar place in Chuocho, and they occasionally hold drinking parties called "Kura-kai" (laughs). This time, we decided to come here for a change of pace in Nakajima. This shop seems to be quite famous in Nakajima. The interior of this place is interesting, with retro items placed all around. It's fun just to look for them! Today, I left the ordering to the regular customers. The beer (500 yen) was a Black Label, in good condition and delicious. At this point, my evaluation of the place went up (laughs). - Pickled vegetables (complimentary) These pickles were served as a snack. The pickles were perfectly marinated and delicious. Cabbage, radish, carrot, and kelp. They were so delicious that I couldn't finish them, so I wrapped them up and took them home to eat the next day! - Grilled udon (750 yen) Firstly, the portion was large, and it was packed with ingredients. Squid, shrimp, onion, green pepper, carrot. It was topped with bonito flakes and square-cut seaweed. The taste was slightly strong, and it was clear that it was meant to go well with alcohol. - Toriyasubee (700 yen) I realized by this point that this place serves large portions (laughs). It was two pieces of chicken breast, coated in starch and fried, topped with plenty of green onions. The sauce was full of ginger and garlic, and it also went well with alcohol. - Eggplant kimchi cheese (700 yen) The cheese was melty, and the combination of eggplant and kimchi was great. This dish was perfect for accompanying beer. - Squid rings (600 yen) There were about 15 pieces. It looked like a small portion compared to the other dishes, but it was actually quite enough (laughs). These were also fried in starch. I wonder if they are good at making Karaage? - Deep-fried natto (500 yen) This dish was also large. It was a big piece of fried natto, filled with a special mix of natto, cabbage, carrot, and kelp. It was so big that I placed a lighter next to it for comparison (laughs). The taste was, of course, delicious! - Grilled rice ball (500 yen) This was amazing. It was the first time I had seen such a large grilled rice ball. They apparently use 2.5 cups of rice for one. It was crispy on the outside and topped with butter. The miso soup was also quite generous. It was delicious, but I couldn't eat anymore (laughs). The pickled radish was sliced, so it's okay to eat it (laughs). Everything was delicious, cheap, and I really liked this place! They also have a counter, so the staff suggested that I come alone next time, but the portion size is just too much for one person (laughs). I recommend coming here with four people or more! If it weren't for the coronavirus, it seems like it would be full of students from Muroran National College of Technology. Of course, I would choose this place over a chain izakaya. I'll definitely come back when I have a group of people gathered. Thank you for the meal ☺

Today, I went to the izakaya Anbei in Muroran with my family. The atmosphere of the old folk house was very relaxing, and the food was delicious. The highlight was the huge onigiri and the grilled tamamanma. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again!

The restaurant is a cozy old-fashioned style izakaya with a warm and lively atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent, ranging from onigiri and grilled dishes to sashimi. The portions are generous and the master's special dishes are a must-try. The relaxing atmosphere of the old-fashioned style makes it a great place to enjoy a drink. Recommended dishes include grilled chicken skewers, tsukune (meatballs), deep-fried tofu, grilled rice balls, and asparagus with butter.

We used this restaurant for a banquet. There was no regular all-you-can-drink banquet course, so we could drink freely and once we reached our budget, we would be charged extra. However, we didn't reach the budget easily, so it must have been inexpensive. I guess that's why it's called "Cheap Samurai" maybe? When we saw the exterior at night, it looked high-class, but the interior was not like that at all. It felt more like a familiar izakaya. The master was energetic and seemed to have a strong sense of service. He even gave us a complimentary appetizer, which made me think he's good at business, serving various customers. The first dishes that came out honestly didn't taste that great, but this place is famous for its jumbo rice balls. The jumbo grilled rice ball that came out at the end was really delicious. I was already full so I couldn't eat much, but I wanted to eat more.

Anbeisai is famous for its huge onigiri. I had heard about how big they were, but I was surprised when I saw them for the first time. The atmosphere is like an old-fashioned traditional Japanese house, giving a nostalgic feel. When I visited, there was a group having a party next to us, and for some reason the owner was drinking with them. It's the kind of place where you can casually drop by. The staff are mostly young, but they are quite attentive, making the dining experience enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

When my friend returned to our hometown, we visited Yasubei in Nakajima. It was an old-fashioned izakaya with young but well-trained staff, and we enjoyed our meal comfortably. The owner or manager even gave us a complimentary side dish when our order was served. However, they did the same for the customers next to us, which was a bit disappointing. We were recommended to try the large onigiri when we visited Yasubei, so we ordered two out of the two or three available options. The onigiri turned out to be surprisingly huge! We managed to finish it somehow, but be cautious when ordering.

I was taken care of by an acquaintance during a business trip. The appearance of the restaurant seemed high-class at first glance, like a traditional Japanese inn. However, the staff were surprisingly energetic and the head chef's lively personality was very pleasant. The menu was not something I had seen before, which might be a bit difficult for first-time visitors to read. The prices for each dish were a bit high, but they were all very generous in portion size! The original vegetable stir-fry called Yasubei-yaki and the deep-fried tofu were particularly delicious. The head chef even gave us some homemade pickles as a complimentary service. During the chat at the time of payment, when I mentioned that I was visiting from Sapporo on business, he said, "Next time, I'll treat you to our homemade salted fish. It's delicious!" Looking forward to it, head chef! (laughs)

Anbeie in Higashi-Muroran is a recommended izakaya with all seats being sunken kotatsu-style with wooden flooring, creating a cozy atmosphere. The open layout of the restaurant allows for lively gatherings or quiet conversations. Their oversized onigiri is a must-try, delicious and visually impressive, making the dining experience enjoyable. There are many other delicious dishes to choose from as well. Highly recommended!

The staff are all energetic and pleasant. A must-try is their onigiri - they have both grilled onigiri and mixed rice onigiri, both the size of a face. The sashimi that the master buys fresh every day is delicious. They also have a wide variety of dishes, each one more delicious than those at chain izakayas. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, making it a recommended izakaya.
