Muroran, Nakajimacho. Today's shop is Yasubei. It is located in a small alley in the bustling area of Nakajima. It's a familiar place in Chuocho, and they occasionally hold drinking parties called "Kura-kai" (laughs). This time, we decided to come here for a change of pace in Nakajima. This shop seems to be quite famous in Nakajima. The interior of this place is interesting, with retro items placed all around. It's fun just to look for them! Today, I left the ordering to the regular customers. The beer (500 yen) was a Black Label, in good condition and delicious. At this point, my evaluation of the place went up (laughs). - Pickled vegetables (complimentary) These pickles were served as a snack. The pickles were perfectly marinated and delicious. Cabbage, radish, carrot, and kelp. They were so delicious that I couldn't finish them, so I wrapped them up and took them home to eat the next day! - Grilled udon (750 yen) Firstly, the portion was large, and it was packed with ingredients. Squid, shrimp, onion, green pepper, carrot. It was topped with bonito flakes and square-cut seaweed. The taste was slightly strong, and it was clear that it was meant to go well with alcohol. - Toriyasubee (700 yen) I realized by this point that this place serves large portions (laughs). It was two pieces of chicken breast, coated in starch and fried, topped with plenty of green onions. The sauce was full of ginger and garlic, and it also went well with alcohol. - Eggplant kimchi cheese (700 yen) The cheese was melty, and the combination of eggplant and kimchi was great. This dish was perfect for accompanying beer. - Squid rings (600 yen) There were about 15 pieces. It looked like a small portion compared to the other dishes, but it was actually quite enough (laughs). These were also fried in starch. I wonder if they are good at making Karaage? - Deep-fried natto (500 yen) This dish was also large. It was a big piece of fried natto, filled with a special mix of natto, cabbage, carrot, and kelp. It was so big that I placed a lighter next to it for comparison (laughs). The taste was, of course, delicious! - Grilled rice ball (500 yen) This was amazing. It was the first time I had seen such a large grilled rice ball. They apparently use 2.5 cups of rice for one. It was crispy on the outside and topped with butter. The miso soup was also quite generous. It was delicious, but I couldn't eat anymore (laughs). The pickled radish was sliced, so it's okay to eat it (laughs). Everything was delicious, cheap, and I really liked this place! They also have a counter, so the staff suggested that I come alone next time, but the portion size is just too much for one person (laughs). I recommend coming here with four people or more! If it weren't for the coronavirus, it seems like it would be full of students from Muroran National College of Technology. Of course, I would choose this place over a chain izakaya. I'll definitely come back when I have a group of people gathered. Thank you for the meal ☺
