Visited Kitami on a business trip on March 30, 2023, and came to this restaurant, Sakushokuka Senju, with a client. It was my first visit. The client used to frequent this place in the past. We sat in a spacious sunken kotatsu on the left side of the restaurant and toasted with beer. The sashimi, especially the tuna, was delicious - so tender and moist (laughs). The grilled chicken with garlic was also to my liking. The yellowtail collar had quite a punch to it. I'm not usually a fan of yellowtail, but I might like it in simmered dishes or grilled collars. We also had tempura and fried burdock root, and the sake kept flowing... I'm always sorry (laughs). Then, as a surprise, the client gave me a glass made by Noriko Noso, which I had really wanted. I was so happy - thank you very much. Thank you for the feast.

I came to Sobaya Mae in Kitami, by JR train, and the soba restaurant I aimed for unexpectedly closed due to running out of soba. My wife is as clueless as ever. We ended up at a Beer Garden for beer and Genghis Khan. I'm not a fan of Beer Gardens, but the beer and Genghis Khan were delicious. While at the Beer Garden, we were already looking for a second place. The second place was also chosen by my wife. We walked a bit to a place in Yamashita-cho. Upon entering, we were cheerfully told "We can take you." I wasn't really hungry, but we were led to a separate room. When I asked if there was space in the main room, they simply said "No." The empty tables in the main room remained uncleared until the end. It felt like deliberate neglect. The large room felt alienating, with us and about 7-8 family members. The kids were fussy and I kept entertaining them. We toasted with Super Dry beer. The appetizer was white fish sashimi and marinated octopus. There was a hint of sesame oil. We ordered dishes like dashimaki tamago, chicken garlic skewers, octopus with vinegar miso, and grilled squid legs, all reasonably priced. We also had Kagakinzui and Nakaya sake, both delicious and seemingly generous servings. The dishes were tasty, especially the dashimaki tamago. The chicken garlic skewers didn't have actual garlic pieces, but the flavor was there. The octopus with vinegar miso was a delightful combination. The grilled squid legs were small but tasty. The total bill was surprisingly cheap at 4,300 yen. I saw the owner smoking in the bathroom, which was disappointing. The wife was very friendly and bright, although she had a tendency to be a bit pushy. She seemed to excel at providing dishes.

The rolled omelette with dashi is delicious. The best salt ramen in Kitami. The beef horumon salt ramen is tasty. The pickled mackerel here is my favorite, even though I usually don't like pickled mackerel. The Japanese sake, Kirin Yama, is also delicious. This is a restaurant recommended by a ramen shop I often visit. The service is great and the dishes made by the master are the best. If you want to smile, please visit this restaurant. The food is delicious and impressive. The pickled mackerel sushi roll is delicious, even though it was my first time trying it. Ice-cold beer is the best. Kirin Yama Renjin pairs well with the dishes.

November 2011, 4th visit for a business trip after 2 months to Kitami, where the temperature was -4 degrees, very cold. This time, I wanted to meet the owner and mama after dining with my company's boss in the central area. I arrived a little after 9 pm, just after a few regular customers had left, and unfortunately, the recommended surf clam was sold out. However, I enjoyed the usual yakitori and shochu. The owner mentioned that when they first opened 8 years ago, they used to run the restaurant with his wife while their children were still young and sleeping in the back. They were even called "the izakaya where children are sleeping" back then. If you want to have seasonal fish, you can call in advance to request specific ingredients, and they will accommodate your request. I will add more to this review if I remember more details. Thank you to the owner and mama for the wonderful meal.

This is a restaurant run by a couple slightly away from the drinking district in Kitami. I have visited for both banquets and regular menus, and both are good. The banquet menu is very generous, and I remember it being difficult to finish. The taste is also delicious. There are quite unique menu items, but the ingredients are fresh and very tasty. I had chicken sagari here for the first time and it was delicious. You can enjoy delicious ingredients in a homely atmosphere at this casual and approachable restaurant.
