Saroma Uomi took me to a local izakaya with a senior colleague from work! I had only been to chain izakayas before, so going to a real izakaya was a great experience where I could enjoy delicious seafood dishes! I had always avoided shirako because I didn't like it, but when I was recommended to try the fried shirako, it was absolutely delicious! I have been to other izakayas and tried this dish, but none of them have surpassed this one! It might be a bit pricey, but I think it would cost even more on mainland Japan! If you are ever nearby or planning a trip, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant! ☀️

(Visit on 2014.2.23) I revisited "Saroma Kaikou" after two weeks since my last visit, and once again ordered the Crab Zousui, Oolong tea, and added Grilled Hokke. The Grilled Hokke and Crab Zousui were delicious as always. I also enjoyed the casual conversation with the staff, despite not being a local. Whenever I visit Saroma, I definitely want to stop by "Saroma Kaikou." (Visit on 2014.2.8) I visited Saroma after a long time and stopped by "Saroma Kaikou." Even though it was 30 minutes before closing, I sat at the counter and ordered Crab Zousui, Grilled Squid, and Oolong tea. It was a Saturday night, so there were quite a few customers. The seafood selection was impressive, probably due to its location by the sea, and it was tastier than what I usually have in my hometown. When it was time to pay, the staff mentioned something like "It's been a while," which surprised me. I think it's amazing that they remembered me, a non-regular customer. I will definitely visit again. (Visit in 2012.5) I visited Saroma Lake during a long weekend, but it was late at night and I couldn't find dinner by the lake, so I drove to the town of Saroma and ended up at "Saroma Kaikou." It was my first time there, and I sat at the counter. Feeling hungry, I ordered Crab Zousui (400 yen), Butter-Grilled Hokke (650 yen), Squid Sashimi (400 yen), and Oolong tea (250 yen) initially. I also ordered another Oolong tea (250 yen) and Grilled Squid (forgot the price). Being a town by the sea (Saroma Lake), the seafood was delicious, and I was satisfied easily. If I have the chance to visit Saroma (Saroma Lake) again, I would like to stop by. They open from 5 PM and the last order is at 10:30 PM.

During a drive in Hokkaido, we arrived late and without a reservation at the Hotel Grandia by Lake Saroma. Since we didn't have a reservation and checked in late, the hotel couldn't prepare dinner for us, so they recommended this restaurant instead. We drove about 20 minutes on a dark, poorly lit road to get to the restaurant. Lake Saroma is famous for scallop farming, and the scallop dishes we had that day were all excellent. We also ordered various other seafood dishes, and everything was delicious! It turned out to be a night of unexpected satisfaction. I realized that when traveling, booking accommodation without dinner and going to a local recommended restaurant in the nearby town can also be enjoyable.
