<Pacific Ferry and Hokkaido Southern Rental Car Trip>, Day 4. For lunch, we went to Izakaya Kyoseimaru in Kamoenai Village on the Shakotan Peninsula. It's located inside the Tsunajiro Inn. It seems to be under the same management. The Italian restaurant Mareru across the street is also run by the same people. We tried the following dish: Kurume Udon (900 yen). It's interesting to find Kurume Udon in Hokkaido. I guess when you're traveling with Marco's parents, you can expect these surprises. The menu seemed to have only one type of udon. The restaurant was newly opened and clean. We ordered and waited at the counter. The meal included udon, mixed rice, and side dishes. The tempura on top of the udon turned out to be burdock root and garlic scapes. My portion had more garlic scapes, while Marco's mother had more burdock root. It was a nice touch, adding a crunchy texture and flavor to the slightly light udon. The udon was thin and the broth had a Kansai-style taste. The mixed rice was also delicious. The restaurant seemed to offer a different menu at night. It's still new, and being part of an inn, it had a cozy atmosphere.
