Originally a hot pot specialty restaurant, it has transformed into an izakaya with a wide variety of menus, including izakaya classics, grilled dishes, and okonomiyaki-style food—all offered as an all-you-can-eat option! The quality and cost performance are outstanding, making it an excellent choice for casual dining. On top of that, the staff’s service is also commendable! There’s nothing to complain about at this restaurant.

When it comes to noodle dishes, soba is a must-have, right? I heard there's a unique soba place in Shonai, so I went to check it out! The restaurant is called "Fugu and Iron Plate Drink Eatery by Tecchiri Lab," and it's about a 5-minute walk from Shonai Station on the Hankyu Takarazuka Line, located in a building along the railway tracks. Inside, you can see the station and Hankyu trains perfectly. They have both sunken kotatsu and table seating. I tried the "Gab SOBA," which has two textures: chewy and crispy. It features a rich hot soba broth with bonito and chicken oil, and the beef is braised in the soba sauce. The new style is the "SOBA Iron Pot," where the soba is served with sweet and spicy beef, shredded egg, and grated daikon, beautifully presented. For toppings, I added chopped green onions, seaweed, tempura flakes, and spicy chili oil. The warm, chewy noodles soaked in the rich soba broth tasted amazing! The sweet and spicy beef was juicy and delicious on its own. The sweet shredded egg paired perfectly with the soba, and the grated daikon added a nice kick. Next, I tried the "Duck Tsuke Soba," which comes with duck breast, thread chili peppers, and white shredded green onions served with a warm dipping broth. It was simple yet looked delicious! The cold noodles were great with the hot broth, and everything was tasty. There was plenty of duck meat, making it very satisfying, and the thread chili peppers added spice while the shredded green onions offered a nice crunch. I added a bit of the spicy chili oil, which was pleasantly hot. These two dishes were fantastic, and the menu is rich with other recommended options as well! I definitely want to go back again!

The Gabu SOBA offers an exciting experience with two textures: chewy and crispy. The flavor of the buckwheat flour really fills your mouth, and it pairs wonderfully with the warm soba broth made with katsuobushi and chicken fat. It also includes tender beef that has been simmered in the soba broth. Truly a new sensation—this was SOBA, not just soba! The duck dipping soba is packed with plump duck meat and is highly recommended! The duck is incredibly delicious, releasing rich flavors with every bite. For a change in taste, adding some chili oil at the end is also a great tip. You can freely add four types of green onions, seaweed, chili oil, and tempura crumbs to your soba. The spacious atmosphere makes it ideal for gatherings! It's a great place to have lunch or dinner while chatting comfortably with family or friends. Although the building might be a bit hard to find, it’s just a 2-minute walk straight along the tracks from the station, making the location very convenient.

I had been curious about this place for a while, so I visited for the first time. The spacious interior was nice, and I ordered the daily lunch special. It included shabu-shabu, salad, rice, miso soup, a small side dish, soba noodles, and coffee. I felt completely full afterward. I thought it was way too cheap for all that! (laughs)

I had lunch at an izakaya on the second floor of a mixed-use building right near Shonai Station. The name of the restaurant suggests it's known for fugu, but for lunch, they also serve regular dishes like fried chicken set meals and soba. While the set meals included an appealing salad bar, my curiosity for 100% buckwheat soba won out, so I ordered the "Chikutama" countryside soba with a large serving. It took quite a while (about 20 minutes) for my soba to arrive. It came with two pieces of chikuwa tempura, a boiled egg, grated daikon, and green onions on top. The thicker soba didn't have a strong aroma, but it was chewy and satisfying to eat, very delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Here we are at Tecchiri Lab! Tecchiri and soba! What a rare combination! I thought I'd first drop by for lunch, but getting to the second floor was a bit unsettling… I mean, to be honest, it was kind of scary. The dimly lit elevator in a dark, shared building… After getting off, turning left… it still felt eerie. The soba was thick and tough, not cooked enough. The broth was extremely rich in flavor (laughs). I'm still thinking about what to do for dinner.

Today, I visited a newly opened restaurant called Tecchiri Lab. It's located on the second floor of a certain building, and when you enter, the first floor has many vacant shops, which feels a bit eerie (laughs). After climbing the stairs, I found only a dental clinic and this restaurant, giving it a slightly lonely vibe. Once inside, there was a shoe rack resembling one you’d find in a bathhouse, and as I moved further in, I discovered tables with sunken seating all around. The spacing is generous, so it doesn’t feel cramped at all. Orders are placed via a trendy touch panel. The menu offers a wide range of set meals, and including fugu makes it quite expensive, but you can get a mini donburi set with soba for a reasonable price. Naturally, I went for the affordable option of a mini oyakodon (chicken and egg bowl) with soba (laughs). Even though it’s a mini size, the portion is substantial, and it’s delicious! The soba has a texture that is quite different from the usual. It’s smooth and slippery, almost like ramen. The dipping sauce is also unlike what you’d find at a traditional soba restaurant. It has a sweetness that makes it tasty, though it might divide opinions. This place can cater to both high and low budgets depending on what you choose to eat! Thank you for the meal!

This was my second time having lunch here. Last time I enjoyed the deep-fried pufferfish served with sauce, so I wanted to order the same thing, but it was discontinued. Instead, I had the pufferfish tempura set meal. The amount of soba that came with it had decreased, but everything was delicious. It even included a soft drink. However, while the pufferfish tempura was served with shredded cabbage, the small side dish was also a salad, so I thought it would have been better if they had included hijiki seaweed or some simmered vegetables instead. I might try something different next time. Thank you for the meal!

There weren't many customers at lunchtime, so I had lunch with my coworkers. It was very delicious. Next time, I would like to make a reservation for a drinking party.

The soba was quite delicious as well.

I was able to use it at a great price. There were many varieties for the all-you-can-eat option. I'm looking forward to making a reservation again and trying this next time.
