I visited the restaurant on a weekday evening, entering just after 5 PM. There were no other customers, and the owner was managing everything by herself. Despite being a grilled meat restaurant, the atmosphere was quite relaxed. The interior featured four counter seats and two four-person tables. Since I was alone, I opted for a seat at the counter. Instead of charcoal, the grilling was done on a gas roaster, but I actually appreciate that as it gives off a "local barbecue place" vibe.
I started with a beer, bean sprout namul, and fresh sekanmai (beef stomach). They offer both draft beer (fragrant ale) and bottled beer (Super Dry and Red Star), with the bottle being a medium size. The fresh sekanmai was delicious with no unpleasant odors. The bean sprout namul had a milder sesame oil aroma and flavor compared to usual, including not just bean sprouts but also carrots and red bell pepper, giving it a wholesome "home-cooked" feel.
For the main meat dishes, I ordered half portions of salt beef tongue, high-quality ribeye, and beef tripe. It's great that they offer half sizes for these cuts, making it easier for solo diners. The beef tongue and ribeye didn’t have a very strong umami flavor, but the meat was tender enough. The tripe was perfect, not too tough, providing a pleasant texture and was, in my opinion, the best of the three.
Since it was my first visit and I was dining alone, I decided to wrap up my meal here. Honestly, the quality of the meat isn’t particularly high (not meant as a criticism). However, finding a place where you can relax at the counter and enjoy grilled meat while drinking is quite rare these days, so I truly appreciate it. The prices for drinks are very reasonable, which is wonderful for someone like me who enjoys drinking. A draft beer costs 380 yen, and the Kaku highball is also 380 yen, and it comes strong by default.
Thank you very much. I will definitely return when I want to enjoy some barbecue along with a drink without any fuss.
