I made a reservation and visited the restaurant in the evening during the consecutive holidays. Without a reservation, it would have been impossible as there were already two groups at the tables. If you were to eat galbi at another restaurant, it would cost around 2,000 yen per person, but here it is only 1,000 yen. The pork loin is also similarly cheap yet very reasonable. The salted hormone was perfectly prepared, and the kimchi, reportedly homemade by the elderly people in the area, was the real deal. This barbecue restaurant in Urakawa town is considered one of the top restaurants in Hokkaido, and the food was delicious.

Visited Urakawa Town in early July 2021, my usual hotel was fully booked so I stayed at a different inn. Upon check-in, I received a voucher for a free glass of draft beer at the hotel's restaurant, but I couldn't just have that one drink. Instead, I was more interested in trying the yakiniku restaurant "Shokudoen" that I could see from my room. I've seen the name "Shokudoen" in various towns over the years, so I wonder if there is any connection. If anyone knows, please tell me. It had been a while since I had yakiniku alone, and the restaurant was not crowded, so I opted for the sunken kotatsu seating. I started with some chicken beer and namul as appetizers, and for the meat, I chose the following: - Beef loin (980 yen) - Beef tongue - Pork loin (600 yen) - Pork horumon (500 yen) When it comes to yakiniku restaurants, I value not only the quality of the meat but also the sauce. The sauce here is a "Japanese-style" soy sauce-based one commonly found in Japanese yakiniku restaurants. Personally, I feel that it doesn't quite match well with the condiments. As for the meat, I enjoy the pork horumon (with sauce) as I can eat as much of the thin slices as I want. The beef tongue with salt seasoning was tender and good, but the salt was a bit strong for my taste. The pork loin was decent, and the beef loin had a nice marbling, making it the most delicious among the ones I tried. If I were to rate just the meat, I would give it a 3.8 out of 5. It was recommended in a previous review, but if you visit here, it's better to try the beef loin. That's all for my meal, thank you.

Near the Urakawa Port, there is a street on the harbor side, just off the national highway. There are a few dining options in the area, but it is not as lively as the drinking street. I visited around 7 pm on a Friday and the place was almost full, with a delicious aroma filling the air. I ordered salted hormone and kalbi, but the staff recommended the pork loin and beef loin, so I decided to try those two. The food came out quite quickly, and when the beef loin arrived, I was surprised to see it was marbled. It was only 50 yen more expensive than the kalbi at 900 yen. From now on, I'll go for the beef loin (laughs). When I took a bite of the quickly grilled meat, the fat melted in my mouth, and it was incredibly tender. The pork loin was also delicious, without any unpleasant smell typical of pork. In terms of value for money, it may be a bit pricey, but I believe the taste of that loin is worth it.
