Soba Isshin is a soba restaurant located in the Aeon Sapporo Moiwa store. It is situated inside the food court. I visited for lunch on a weekend. The restaurant is located on the first floor of Aeon Sapporo Moiwa store along National Route 230 in Minami Ward, Sapporo. For the exact location, please check on Tabelog. I visited just before 1 pm on the weekend. The spacious seating area in the food court was full. After securing a seat, I placed my order. I had passed by the restaurant a few times before, but the zaru soba for 600 yen seemed a bit pricey in the food court, so I usually skipped it. (laughs) There were no particularly great lunch deals. I chose the "B set" from the available set options. You can choose between hot and cold soba, and since it was a cold day, I chose hot soba. I paid at the register and received a buzzer. After an 11-minute wait, the buzzer went off.
B Set:
Mini Chuka Don and Soba Set (Hot)
Soba: 2.0
The soba seemed to be boiled. It resembled the soba from a noodle shop. The soba didn't have a distinctive flavor. The base of the soba broth was decent, but it was quite salty. It was a bit tough to drink the broth, almost to the level where I think I didn't even taste it. The toppings included bamboo shoots and green onions, but there was no seaweed as shown in the menu photo.
Mini Chuka Don: 3.3
The soy sauce-based sauce was on the stronger side, but still within acceptable limits in terms of saltiness. The dish included quail eggs, Chinese cabbage, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, snow peas, pork, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, small shrimp, and squid. For a mini dish, it had a wide variety of toppings. It came with pickles and barley tea.
Price: 850 yen (including 8% consumption tax)
The Chuka Don was better tasting than the soba. The quality of the soba was just average, resembling the taste of boiled noodles from a cafeteria. The flavors of the soba and Chuka Don were geared towards younger or more hearty appetites. The inclusion of barley tea was a nice touch. The set at 850 yen might be due to the high rent, I assume. Personally, I think around 650 yen would be a more reasonable price for a lunch set. I might consider going back during a less busy time on a weekday. Thank you for the meal.
