It's not snack time at 3 o'clock, but I wanted to take a break so I entered the store. The muffins are recommended, and the house-roasted coffee is delicious. Today, I got takeout and took a break on a bench by Lake Shikotsu. I was able to relax and refresh with delicious muffins and fragrant coffee. Thank you for the meal! ♩

This seems to be a new product. I've been interested in sake lees recently, so I was curious. I bought it for 380 yen. I warmed it up at home and enjoyed it with tea. It's a safe, additive-free, lightly flavored treat. The combination of sweet red bean paste, strawberries, and sake lees was exquisite. It reminded me of my grandmother's snacks. They also offer a lunch set, so I would like to go there next time.

Looking at the menu outside the restaurant, I thought they only had trendy dishes that you could find in Tokyo, but I was pleasantly surprised. The lunch plate I had was chicken sautéed in orange sauce with potato salad on toast. The toast was incredibly delicious, with a soft and fluffy texture and a wonderful aroma. They use apple yeast for their homemade bread, and you can taste the sweetness of the wheat. It's on par with the high-end bakeries in Tokyo. The food was excellent, and the view of Lake Shikotsu from the window was very soothing. I would love to visit again when I go to Lake Shikotsu.

"I visited the shop around 5pm on a Saturday. I came to Lake Shikotsu with a colleague after finishing another job. Even though it was the end of March, the lakeside was still chilly, so we decided to stop by this shop to warm up. I ordered a Blueberry & Crumble muffin for 450 yen and a hot coffee for 400 yen. It's not exactly cheap, but the muffins are made with organic and pesticide-free ingredients, each one handmade with care. If you choose to eat in, they will toast the muffin for you. It was slightly warm, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside, very delicious! The shop seems to be run by a female owner, and you can enjoy freshly baked muffins and scones of the day. The coffee was light and easy to drink, served in a large mug which was nice. You can enjoy a leisurely time overlooking the lake with gentle muffins and tasty coffee. The shop also displays artworks by local artists from Chitose, including trendy items like herbariums and wreaths, adding to the enjoyment. If I had to ask for something more, I wish the drinks were a bit cheaper in a set. (￣▽￣;) haha"

In August 2017, after lunch, I took a stroll along the shore of Lake Shikotsu. It had been two years since my last visit, and I noticed a charming new shop that seemed to be a muffin cafe. I decided to go in and ordered two coffees and a Gorgonzola muffin. The service, even for takeout customers, was handled by a busy woman. The coffee was expertly brewed and delicious, made with beans from COFFEE GALLERY in Kumamoto, as stated on their website. The Gorgonzola muffin had a delightful aroma and moist texture. I enjoyed my coffee and muffin. Thank you for the meal.

I came to Lake Shibukawa and got takeout for myself. I bought a Peanut Butter Chocolate for 400 yen. There were many options lined up, but I quickly decided on this chocolate one as it was the only one available. It's large in size. Muffins usually feel dry and tasteless, but this one was surprisingly moist with a strong butter flavor and the chocolate chips added a nice touch. They also had drinks available, and although I wanted to dine in at the stylish interior, I opted for takeout as I had already eaten pudding and drank coffee. The store was not very noticeable, and I wondered if just the muffin would be enough, but the young female staff member was cute and friendly. This time, I went on a drive to Lake Shikotsu! There are many shops along the shore of Lake Shikotsu, but when I visited after a long time, I found that a few new shops had opened. One of the newly opened shops is a muffin specialty store called Penne Nord. When you enter the shop, it is surprisingly spacious. There is also a seating area, but on a sunny day, it might be nice to eat outside with the magnificent view of Lake Shikotsu right in front of you. Now, it's time to choose a muffin. There are many types of muffins that I have never seen before! In addition to sweet flavors, there are also savory muffins like tuna mayo & cheddar cheese, and meat sauce & mozzarella. I choose with my children, chatting and having fun. And the muffins are huge! They are bigger than a fist. They are so filling that they might be a bit heavy for a light snack after a meal. The drinks available are coffee, tea, orange juice, and apple juice. Simple choices, all priced around 400 yen. We ate a little on a bench by the lake, and the muffins were moist, substantial, and delicious! The tiramisu flavor was unique and tasted just like tiramisu. The plain muffin was consistently tasty. Not too sweet, just right. We shared them among us. Perfect for a snack during a drive around Lake Shikotsu. Thank you for the meal!

The gentle breeze feels great at the beautiful Lake Shikotsu, where small ripples create a mirror-like surface. On one side, you can see Mt. Tarumae and Mt. Fuppushi, and on the other side, Mt. Eniwa, offering a stunning view of Lake Shikotsu. On the shores of Lake Shikotsu, a muffin specialty store opened on the 29th of last month. The name of the shop is "Pennen Norde." When you see the lineup of muffins, you'll be surprised by their size. They are so big that you might involuntarily exclaim, "Wow!" These American-sized muffins are quite filling, and just one can satisfy your hunger. There are various flavors available, such as rum raisin, gorgonzola & peach, peanut butter chocolate, red bean cheese cream, tiramisu, blueberry & crumble, black tea & orange, caramel banana, tuna mayo cheddar cheese, meat sauce & mozzarella cheese, and plain, among others. From classic muffins to limited-time flavors, it's fun to try different varieties. The muffins we ordered were "Gorgonzola & Peach" on the left, which has a sweet and rich juicy taste that makes you crave wine, and the limited-time "Black Tea & Orange" on the right. The shop received pesticide-free oranges from a friend in Wakayama, so they baked a limited quantity for customers to enjoy. It's likely to sell out during Golden Week, so if you want to try it, hurry up and visit the shop! In the back of the photo is "Meat Sauce & Mozzarella Cheese." Meat sauce and mozzarella cheese - they can't go wrong! It makes you want wine, just like eating Italian pizza. You can eat the muffins you purchased inside the shop, but on a sunny day, it's best to enjoy them outside! Add some coffee and tea, and enjoy the view in front of the shop. Sit on a bench, savor the muffins, and bask in the sun, listening to the chirping of birds while sipping warm coffee. It's a blissful time. The shop blends in with the surroundings so well that it doesn't stand out too much, giving it a hidden gem vibe. This might actually be a good thing! I encountered muffins from a shop by Lake Shikotsu in Hokkaido and a chicken rice shop in a rural area of Yokkaichi. When I went to buy chicken rice, I found various sweets at the chicken shop, including muffins from Penne Nord. There were 7 types on the menu board, but only chestnut and coffee, cocoa nib, and chocolate ginger prune were left. I purchased two types, as the ingredients are very particular, using organic and pesticide-free items. They do not use sugar, butter, or eggs. When slightly warmed as per the instructions, they are moist and chewy, very delicious. If not warmed, they are a bit crumbly. I want to try the other flavors next time. I will visit again to ask when the next shipment will arrive. I am grateful for this wonderful encounter. They also offer delivery, so that's good to know. Thank you for the meal.
