I visited a restaurant that I had been wanting to go to for a long time, based on reviews by Mairevi. I finally had the chance to visit when I stopped by on my way to Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine for the first shrine visit of the year. I had made a web reservation in advance as I had heard that the restaurant is always full. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a slightly old building, with a curry restaurant on the first floor that always has a long line. The interior of the restaurant has a warm atmosphere with a touch of age, which is quite calming. I opted for the chef's choice set lunch (3850 yen including tax) with a one drink minimum. I chose the kumquat soda (600 yen, I think) and was also served kumquats soaked in syrup to eat. The slight bitterness of the kumquat was surprisingly delicious. The lunch started with a daikon soup surrounded by lentils, steamed chicken, carrot salad, pickled red cabbage, cherry tomatoes, radishes, and more, all beautifully arranged on a plate. It was a salad, appetizer, and soup all in one plate, with vibrant colors. It was a cold day, so I wished the daikon soup had been hotter, but the taste was smooth and good. The set also included three types of homemade bread: baguette, black sesame bread, and cat ear bread, all warm and delicious enough to make me want more. The cat ear bread was especially outstanding. The appetizer was seared salmon with kumamoto carrot sauce, with the salmon lightly seared on the surface and pleasantly warm inside. The kumamoto carrot, a type of carrot mainly produced in Okinawa, is known for its strong sweetness. The pasta dish was spaghetti with lightly smoked chicken and Parmesan in a tomato sauce, cooked al dente. The smoky flavor added depth to the dish and made it delicious. For dessert, I had the popular strawberry milk dolce, which consisted of high-quality strawberries, vanilla ice cream, baked meringue, strawberry sorbet, and condensed milk sauce. The simple red and white color combination offered a variety of sweetness that spread in the mouth. I ended the meal with a cup of coffee.
