縁の下の力持ち
A new restaurant opened along National Route 337 last year. I was curious about it but couldn't stop by, and during the winter the store was closed, so I thought it had gone out of business. However, when I passed by the other day, it was open. There was a pizza flag outside with the words "Pasta Lunch?" visible, so I thought it was an Italian restaurant and went in, but... The interior, renovated from an old house, was surprisingly spacious, but there were no staff in sight. A man with long hair tied back came down from the second floor in a hurry, and he seemed to be the owner. The water served was warm, and the menu only had pizza and soup curry. We each placed our orders, but the food took a long time to come out! I was about to lose it, but while waiting, I took another look around the restaurant where reggae music was playing, and realized it wasn't an Italian restaurant but a "Rastaurant" (I don't know what that means, maybe a reggae term?). The menu also seemed lackluster. There were many records and CDs, and the owner had a Latin vibe. My frustration gradually turned into amusement. This place seems to have a slow Jamaican-like flow of time. When I thought about it, the lukewarm breeze coming in through the window felt pleasant. The taste was okay, and the soup curry was more like a mildly spiced soup. (Strangely, the soup in the lunch set was miso soup.) I'm not sure how to rate it, but this is a unique place with a different atmosphere that was not found around here before. Next time, I want to come when I have time, relax, drink coffee, listen to reggae, and enjoy the atmosphere.
