I stayed at a hotel in Hokkaido on a tour. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet style, and the venue was quite crowded in the evening and morning. For dinner, I had Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) along with sushi and fried food. The ramen at the end was also good, but since we were in Hakodate, I wished there were more seafood options. Breakfast had a wide variety, but it was too crowded to relax. The building wasn't new, but the hot springs were spacious and the hotel staff were all very friendly. Next time, I would like to try a plan that is not buffet style.

Hakodate trip in Hokkaido! It was my first time in Hakodate! For dinner, I originally planned to have a buffet, but I wanted to have a banquet, so I rented a banquet hall and paid an extra 3000 yen to have a course meal. In the end, it was just okay and I regretted not sticking with the buffet! The breakfast buffet was good, so I regretted it even more! If I have the chance again, I will go for the buffet! Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Yunomoto Takuboku-tei. A ryokan with a beautiful garden. From the open-air bath on the top floor, you can see the runway of Hakodate Airport. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of Japanese and Western dishes, including ramen and seafood bowls. Unlike around Hakodate Station, there is no option for all-you-can-eat seafood bowls with ikura.

Traveling with my mother to Hakodate, I made reservations over two months ago and it was perfect timing for the cherry blossoms in full bloom at Goryokaku Park. After enjoying the cherry blossoms, we checked in here! We quickly took a bath and relaxed in the smooth hot springs to soothe our tiredness, then had a buffet dinner! The menu was all listed and placed on the table?! I was happy to see this service for the first time! The tables were spaced out and when the dishes started to run low, they were quickly replenished! The used dishes were also promptly cleared, and the staff were kind and attentive! From the women's bath, we could see a beautiful view of Mount Hakodate. However, due to the location, the view from the guest room window was... oh! We could see Hakodate Airport (laughs). I used the hot springs four times (#^.^#). This is a fairly large hotel in Yunokawa Onsen in Hakodate. I stopped by for lunch. I had the pork sukiyaki and seafood bowl set. It comes with salad, miso soup, and dessert. The miso soup had wakame seaweed, and the dessert was a chocolate gâteau. It was quite delicious.

Let's go to Yunokawa Onsen! I visited for the first time and the hot spring here has a nice atmosphere with a great view of the sea from the outdoor bath. The dinner was a buffet with unique visuals like octopus and sausage skewers. The breakfast buffet also had a seafood rice bowl, which was impressive and very Hakodate-like.

In Hakodate, this is a slightly more expensive hotel that I have always wanted to stay at. On this day, for my second day of business trip in Hakodate, I stayed in a single room plan for around 10,000 yen. The hot spring is spacious and located on the top floor, but the outdoor bath was just average. It wasn't as impressive as I had expected. The breakfast was also a typical Hakodate-style breakfast, but it didn't impress me that much. Maybe I had set my expectations too high, as the breakfast at the hotels around Hakodate is just amazing! That's all. (^^)

At dinner, when entering the venue, there was a corner for the gourmet journey of 18 cities and towns in Doan. Tuna sashimi, salmon, fresh-boiled yellowtail, etc... Last time and this time, the yellowtail was delicious. Octopus, flounder, vitamin drink at night, what is that? Rich Hokkaido clam chowder, chive lettuce fried rice, cherry flounder, potato salad, scallop salted cod roe pasta, venison soup, pork and spring vegetable Vietnamese sauté, miso-pickled hokke grilled curry potato pizza. Beer accompaniment, thought it would go well with beer due to its strong seasoning, but it was a pizza that Chibi boy could eat (laughs). Soy stew, sushi, ramen, steak corner, kids menu potato, chicken wings, spring rolls, shumai, meat dumplings, salad & dessert corner cake, soft serve ice cream, grapes, mango, muscat jelly, cake zenzai. There was also a salad bar with spinach, mizuna, lettuce, seaweed salad, carrots, glass noodles & chicken breast, Chinese-style salad with rapeseed flowers. Drink corner sushi with salmon, engawa, squid, tuna meat dumplings, steak. Daughter's plate, took a picture of what she served herself! Ramen with shrimp flavor, the flavor was good but maybe not necessary to eat. This dinner on the first day was like, well, this kind of thing! The shock was...

I used travel support and went with my friends! There were photos of the chefs responsible for each dish, which is a style you don't often see at buffets, but it gives a sense of security. The potato dishes, especially the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes, were delicious, and I ended up getting full just from eating sweet potatoes. The level of Hokkaido potatoes is different.

After almost finishing the sightseeing on the first day in Hakodate, I finally arrived at the Yunosawa Onsen Takubokutei Hotel around 5 pm. Dinner was scheduled for 5:45 pm, so I had no time to relax and couldn't even take a bath. The dinner was served in a traditional Japanese course style without a menu or explanation. The meal included: - Appetizers with sweet potato and shrimp - Sashimi with tuna and squid (the squid was a bit too chewy for my liking) - Small-sized hairy crab with miso paste (difficult to eat due to the small size) - Strawberry hot pot with a strong flavor of the sea - Teppanyaki beef (the meat was tough) - Soba noodles (too mushy, couldn't finish it in one bite) - A cold rice cake resembling Gohyakumochi served as a rice substitute - Dessert with prunes and a steamed bun Overall, the meal was just average for a traditional hot spring inn. It was a bit disappointing that there were no seafood dishes despite being in Hakodate. After dinner, I had to go out again, so I had to limit my beer intake.

During a drive in the southern part of Hokkaido, we stayed at this hotel as our accommodation. It is a large 11-story hotel with a great view on the rooftop hot spring. Yunokawa Onsen has been a famous hot spring resort in Hakodate for a long time, and I finally got the chance to stay here, which I had always wanted to do. The facility is large, so there were many group guests, including foreigners, making the hotel lively. I believe the effect of the Hokkaido Shinkansen is also a factor. There were also several foreign staff members working at the hotel, making me feel the flow of the times. As for dinner, it was a buffet in the spacious 2nd floor restaurant. There were plenty of dishes using Hokkaido's seafood and mountain ingredients, and I couldn't try them all. The pork steak and sushi at the sushi corner were particularly delicious, and of course, there was the famous sweet squid somen from Hakodate. The thickly sliced steamed mushrooms had an amazing aroma, flavor, and texture. The soft-serve ice cream for dessert was rich in milk flavor, truly representing Hokkaido. I was so full that I felt uncomfortable, and after finishing eating, I didn't feel like moving, so I just went straight to bed in my room. I woke up early naturally because I went to bed early, and I refreshed myself with a morning bath before heading to the breakfast buffet. I thought breakfast would have fewer options compared to dinner, but I was wrong. I couldn't try everything, so I tried to eat a little of each dish that I wanted to try. The mini seafood bowl, morning porridge, seafood mixed rice, and bean bread were all delicious, and I was so full from the morning that I didn't even need lunch. When staying in Hakodate, I will definitely choose Yunokawa Onsen again.

【2017.6.4-9 Honeymoon in Hokkaido Day 2 Breakfast】For this trip, we asked the Tabiiro Concierge to suggest a rough sightseeing plan and arrange accommodations. Our first night's stay was at Takkokutei, located about a 5-minute walk from the tram station Yunosawa Onsen. Since I wanted to have dinner with my former boss, we opted for a breakfast-only plan. We had a buffet breakfast at the restaurant "The Cabin" on the 2nd floor. The Japanese garden visible from the hallway was beautiful. We were seated at our designated table after checking in at the entrance. I don't remember the details of the food, so please refer to the photos. The highlight was the variety of rice dishes like Gomoku Onigiri, Gomoku Red Rice Onigiri, seafood bowl, and Chirashi Sushi. I usually enjoy white rice with lots of salt on red rice, but I refrained from it that day as I wanted to try various dishes. The seafood bowl seemed pre-made, making me wonder about freshness and hygiene. Also, the lack of potato dishes and egg dishes like potato fries and scrambled eggs left me feeling unsatisfied. Our room was on the 9th floor, offering a panoramic view of the sea as there were no tall buildings around. A "Happy Wedding" message awaited us on the table, a thoughtful gesture that made us happy. The large communal bath was on the 11th floor, allowing us to soak in the hot spring while enjoying a splendid view. Due to security reasons, the men's and women's baths were fixed and not interchangeable, but there were panoramic photos of the view from both sides displayed near the elevator. Let's continue our honeymoon journey with enthusiasm on Day 2!

I have eaten at various hotels and ryokans across the country, but this place was by far the worst. No sashimi at all! The only thing close was octopus and tuna carpaccio. The tempura was all some strange fried fish! Of course, there was no shrimp tempura. The sushi was only squid! And the rice was hard and dry. The meat dishes were either cold, rock-hard barbecue skewers or just chicken ham. And it wasn't tasty at all. And to top it off, when I tried to order a Sapporo Classic Lager, it wasn't on the menu! They only had Asahi or local beer. Every ryokan I've been to in Yunokawa always had it, but not here. It was supposed to be the highlight of my trip to Hokkaido, but it was a letdown. The food was poor quality, not tasty, and the drink options were disappointing. I will never go back again! Other reviews seem to be okay, but I couldn't believe it. And the dishes that others had in their photos were nowhere to be found when I went. Why is that??

Hakodate Yunokawa, breakfast after using the "meeting" service. I wonder if there are no single rooms available at "Takubokutei"? On the other hand, for families or couples staying, there is a certain level of quality. The lobby is spacious with high ceilings, creating an open and relaxing atmosphere. The hallway has a chic atmosphere, and the traditional Japanese room we stayed in had a calm and high-quality feel. I wanted to take a photo but forgot (laughs). The large communal bath on the 11th floor was still great. The breakfast buffet was impressive with a wide variety of dishes using local ingredients from southern Hokkaido. The presentation was well done too. For example, there were various dishes using squid, such as spicy pickled squid with cucumbers, squid tempura, and squid somen salad. The presentation was elaborate, with mini tomatoes in a mini aquarium and a fun menu item called "The Shark Cutlet Burger." I tried it and it was good. There was also "whispering in the morning," a twist on takoyaki called "tsubuyaki," and even baby food available at the buffet. It was quite creative and the flavors were great. Overall, it was a recommended hotel in the Yunokawa area. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.
