This is a ramen shop located along a national highway in the town of Niki, Yoichi District. It's a rare location right by the parking area of the highway, with plenty of parking space. It seems to be run by two women, possibly a mother and daughter. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and half curry rice. The ramen bowl was well-prepared, and even the small plate for the curry rice was warmed up. The curry had a slightly strong flavor, typical of a ramen shop, and was delicious. It would have been nice if there were more ingredients in it. The spicy miso ramen had a reddish soup, but the spiciness was not too strong, just a bit spicy. It had a hint of sweetness from the red miso base. The amount of vegetables was good, with even some wood ear mushrooms included, although I personally felt there was too much white sesame sprinkled on top. The noodles were yellow and similar to Sapporo noodles but slightly thinner with a good chewy texture. It's not my preferred type of noodle, but considering the location of this drive-in restaurant, the ramen served here had an authentic taste. Although they didn't have a menu on display, I noticed on the wall behind the counter that they also offered gyoza, soba udon, and rice dishes, so if I happen to pass by during lunchtime, I might stop by again. Arrived around 12 o'clock on a regular day. There were 2 groups of customers before us and 1 person came in after us. Located along National Route 5, just past the "Mushroom Kingdom" and crossing the Yoichi River, this parking area is attached to the restaurant. Although the review on Tabelog is marked as "pending publication," the restaurant is open for business! It seems they were closed during the state of emergency period. The building has a nostalgic feel to it. The restaurant is run by a female owner. There is an L-shaped counter and one table for 2 people. The menu is a bit hard to see as it is displayed above the counter. In addition to ramen, soba, udon, and curry, they also offer gyudon. I ordered the "Miso Ramen" without hesitation (700 yen). It arrived promptly with plenty of ground sesame on top. The soup has a slight aged taste, but the rich flavor makes it enjoyable. The noodles are thin and curly with a moderate firmness. The two slices of chashu are tender and delicious, which was a pleasant surprise. In addition to green onions, there are a few slices of carrot and wood ear mushrooms, but no bean sprouts. It also comes with sliced pork and half a boiled egg. The miso ramen was surprisingly delicious, especially the chashu! Although the price is reasonable, the portion size may be a bit small for ramen. I found myself getting hungry again in the evening. If I have the chance, I would like to try the gyudon next time.
