On Sunday during lunch, I visited LION ET LAPIN, a restaurant I had been wanting to try after reading an introduction article. The atmosphere inside was calm, and I took a seat at a stylish bar-like counter. As I looked over the menu, the owner kindly explained it in detail. Just listening to the explanation gave me a sense of the care they put into their dishes and ingredients. I ordered the Curry Chicken (Regular) and a Specialty Coffee (Iced). The lunch menu consists of two main dishes: Curry Chicken and Curry Lamb, and while I was also curious about the lamb, I ultimately decided to go with the Curry Chicken, which had been the reason I chose this restaurant. When the dish was served, it immediately caught my eye with a presentation reminiscent of French cuisine. The chicken, coated in herb breadcrumbs, was tender, and paired wonderfully with the curry, making it incredibly delicious. The curry was smooth, allowing the aromas and spiciness of the Nepalese spices to come through well, and it complemented both the rice and bread perfectly. The rice was prepared with ginger broth, and the bread was a soft whole grain that was so good I ended up asking for a second serving. The slightly tangy and aromatic coffee was a lovely finishing touch to the meal. I look forward to trying the lamb next time, as well as the dinner à la carte and course options, so I definitely want to visit LION ET LAPIN again.

Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with a salad, tacos, and salsa, and also ordered momo, a Nepali dish. Along the way, we enjoyed some wine and sake as well. To finish, we tried four different types of curry in half portions, and they were outstanding. The focus on spices was impressive, and since it’s available for lunch too, I highly recommend it.

After the performance at the nearby Kaga-cho Hall, the two of us stopped by. We sat in a slightly lower sofa seat facing the window on the second floor. After having a small salad and a generous serving of pickles, we enjoyed the puff pastry and a mixed pot-au-feu for the main dish (3000 yen). We had a Riesling wine followed by a lighter red wine from Germany, which was a Pinot type, but I can't remember its name. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, and it paired wonderfully with the wine. The casual service was also great. It seems we'll make it a point to visit again when we're at Kaga-cho Hall, but it might be challenging to come all the way to Ushigome Kagurazaka Station just to eat here.

LION ET LAPIN, a special curry restaurant that fuses French and Nepalese cuisine, is located in the area around Ushigome-Kagurazaka, Kagurazaka, and Ichigaya, all within walking distance. The name "LION ET LAPIN" means "Lion and Rabbit" in French. The restaurant is owned by childhood friends who are both Leos born in the Year of the Rabbit, which inspired the name. I visited for lunch, and I tried the popular "Chicken Curry" priced at 1,500 yen. This signature dish features spiced curry and a herb-crusted chicken. The chef, trained at an auberge in Hakone, collaborates with a Nepalese cook to create this exquisite curry, which is not only delicious but also visually stunning, resembling French cuisine. The curry is made with Nepalese spices and is topped with herb-roasted chicken and potatoes. It also includes a dash of butter, adding a French touch to the dish. Served with both rice and homemade whole grain bread, the rice is cooked with ginger broth, perfectly complementing the curry's aromas. Dipping the house-made bread into the curry allows the flavors to blend beautifully. The curry has a loose, soup-like consistency yet is rich in flavor, with a perfect balance of heat and sweetness. The herb-roasted chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy, and incredibly tender on the inside—truly a standout chicken curry. In the evening, the place transforms into a stylish Western-style izakaya where you can enjoy course meals featuring curry as one of the main dishes. Besides curry, their creative dishes like their signature oden and pot-au-feu are highly recommended! You can savor your meal alongside a selection of wines.

It’s a small curry, oden, and bar shop located down a narrow alley heading towards Ichigaya from Ushigome Kagurazaka. I discovered it through the Ichigaya Economy News and have visited several times. I went there for lunch on a weekend. From the outside, it looks like a small bar with only a counter, but there are menus posted, indicating it’s a curry shop. There are two staff members working, and I was seated at the counter. The menu allows you to choose the size and main ingredient of the curry. I ordered the "Curry Chicken Regular" for 1500 yen, which arrived in about five minutes. The curry came with a thin, soup-like roux, topped with chicken that had been baked with herbed breadcrumbs and simple potatoes, along with a set of dashi-ginger rice and bread. The flavor of the curry had the impression of soup curry combined with a lot of spices typical of spice curry. It was delicious. It’s a fusion of European-style curry and Sri Lankan curry, and the rich depth of the European curry resembles the umami of the meat. The taste is profoundly satisfying and gradually fills your stomach. The complex aromatic spices from Sri Lanka create a range of scents that pass through the nose; it's not too spicy, but before I knew it, I was sweating profusely. The chicken was possibly sous-vide, as it was moist yet tender and crumbled, pairing wonderfully with the curry. The dashi-ginger rice complemented the dish seamlessly, and the bread soaked up the curry beautifully, turning it into a real curry bread delight. The curry was so delicious that I felt like ordering a second helping, and I noticed that they now offer small and large sizes, so I plan to try a large next time. Additionally, it seems I can enjoy their oden, which is made using the delicious dashi, at night, so I would like to visit again in the evening.

I visited this restaurant after seeing a recommendation from someone I follow. **Location:** About a 4-minute walk from the A1 exit of Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station on the Oedo Line. **Visit Date:** I went on a Sunday around 11:40 AM, and it was reasonably busy. **Atmosphere:** The first floor has counter seats, and the second floor has table seating. The large windows and predominantly white decor create a bright and cheerful ambiance. **Order and Payment:** Payment is made after the meal, and credit cards are accepted. **Food:** I ordered the "Curry Lamb (Regular)" and a "Specialty Coffee." After about a 20-minute wait, the food was served. - **Curry Sauce:** The flavor is unique, different from both European and Nepalese curries. It doesn't have the thickness typical of European curries, and while the spiciness is moderate, the taste profile is clear and well-defined. - **Lamb:** The dish features two types of preparation: "braised" and "grilled," allowing for two different flavor experiences in one plate. - **Rice & Bread:** It came with "dashi ginger rice" and "whole grain chewy bread," which are delicious even on their own. Additionally, for just an extra 100 yen, you can get a second helping. - **Coffee:** The coffee boasts a rich aroma with a smooth, mild bitterness. It's best recommended as black coffee. **Service:** During my visit, there were two staff members managing everything and they seemed quite busy. **Overall Impression:** The restaurant’s introduction mentioned "a fusion of French and Nepalese" and "oden," which made me worry that I might encounter bizarre creations. However, what I received was a curry that was made with great care and attention. While the time it took to receive the food and the somewhat high prices might be downsides, the quality made it very satisfying. I definitely want to return to try the "oden" next time!

- Date and Time: Saturday at 7:30 PM - Reservation made for 2 people - Dishes Ordered: Seasonal vegetable salad with espuma, today's recommended two dishes, curry chicken, two types of Basque cheesecake, and various drinks including beer and wine. **Review:** I find myself craving the curry here regularly, which is why this is my third visit. The salad featured a variety of seasonal vegetables, providing a fun texture and is one of my favorites. The curry chicken was a spice curry topped with breaded chicken thigh, boasting a rich spice flavor. The accompanying rice had a hint of ginger, and the bread was chewy (I had seconds of both the bread and rice). The croquette was freshly fried and hot, with a small size that had just the right amount of saltiness, making it perfect to pair with drinks. It was featured as today’s special, and I would love to have it again. The Basque cheesecake was rich and creamy, pairing exceptionally well with wine. The staff provided thorough explanations of the dishes, making it a wonderful dining experience. Additionally, the restroom was spacious and clean.

The chicken curry has a flavor reminiscent of French cuisine, with delicious spices. For dessert, there's a chocolate lassi, which is a strange combination but surprisingly deep in flavor. At night, it transforms into a stylish izakaya serving dishes like pot-au-feu, which I'm looking forward to trying as well.

I finally got to visit a restaurant I had been curious about but hadn't been able to go to! It was great to find that it was very family-friendly. The curry was relatively mild and easy to eat, with a sophisticated flavor that was absolutely delicious. Additionally, the oden had a pot-au-feu vibe, allowing for a fun experience as I tried various flavor combinations while eating. The wine was served with careful explanations, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a wonderful restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant for lunch on the weekend. The interior was very clean and had a stylish atmosphere even during the day. I ordered the restaurant's specialty, curry chicken. I thought it would be chicken curry, but it was really curry chicken, haha! It featured herb-grilled chicken served on top of the curry, and the rice was flavored with ginger broth, making each element rich in taste. The staff were wonderful, and I would love to return for dinner next time.

I decided to try a different kind of curry at this stylish restaurant! In the evening, it feels more like a French restaurant, and both the interior and the dishes are elegant! They have a chicken curry with spice and a lamb curry with a European style, and I chose the latter. The sauce is a nice blend between European and spicy curry, offering just the right amount of heat and richness—it's delicious! It also has both chunks of lamb and thinly sliced meat, so I'm very satisfied with the flavor and portion size! The only downside is that it's a bit far from the station, but the restaurant wasn't crowded, so the overall time spent wasn't too bad! I definitely want to come back again!

I had the regular size of the curry lamb for lunch. It's a blend of Nepalese and French curry. The curry is made with lamb that has been simmered for 15 hours, and it comes with rice and bread. The rice was cooked with dashi (Japanese soup stock) and ginger, and the bread was made from whole wheat flour. It was a bit of a luxurious curry and delicious!

The lamb curry I had during lunch was an incredibly delicious ethnic-style European curry, but the beef tongue Ash Parmentier I had for dinner was equally amazing! The pairing of the beef tongue, mashed potatoes, and wine was simply perfect. The oden pot-au-feu, a wonderful blend of Japanese and European elements, showcased an exquisite balance of flavors. The dessert, a three-cheese Basque cheesecake, was just as impressive. Every dish astonished me with its deliciousness, and I thoroughly enjoyed the attention to detail in the homemade bread and olive oil. It's also worth noting that the venue is available for private parties and gatherings.

On a weekday, I wandered around and, well past 1 PM, I thought they might be in a break when I headed to the restaurant. Sensing the delicious broth from the counter, I checked and confirmed it was still okay to enter. Since I wanted to try two varieties, I ordered half sizes of both chicken and lamb. The presentation was beautiful. The lamb had different flavors between the steamed and grilled versions. The chicken had a stylish sprinkle of aromatic flakes on top. The curry also had subtle differences in flavor; it's more like a curry sauce drizzled over the chicken and lamb. It was a new taste experience, and it was delicious. One thing to note: the plates are flat. To highlight the meat, it’s probably necessary, but I wish they were a bit smaller and deeper to keep the curry warm. Maybe if I hadn’t ordered half portions, it wouldn’t have gotten cold. I guess I should have skipped the half-size, I got too greedy! In the evening, they serve oden and pot-au-feu, and I heard there are table seats on the second floor. The first floor has a counter, and they also had special sake paired with the oden. It sounds like a fun evening meal too. Thank you for the lovely meal!

LION ET LAPIN is a restaurant located about a 10-minute walk from the train station in Kagurazaka. It offers a fusion of French and Nepali cuisine, with a menu primarily based on French dishes. They have an à la carte selection of charcuterie and various small dishes, while the main attraction is their curry. One of their course options features "oden and pot-au-feu." You can enjoy wine and other beverages alongside your meal. I had the following dishes: a salad of seasonal vegetables with espuma, a selection of 7 to 10 boiled and roasted vegetables, and shellfish mousse with burgundy butter, including abalone, oysters, scallops, and escargot baked with garlic and herb butter. For the main, I tried the curry, which featured a spice chicken curry and chicken herb panko bake. I had never experienced a curry with the panko bake as part of the ingredients before. It truly reflected the restaurant's unique concept. The curry sauce had a nice level of spiciness and a rich flavor that was delicious. It was a place where I could enjoy my meal while sipping on wine. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I visited "LION ET LAPIN," a creative bistro located about a 4-minute walk from Exit A1 of the Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station. For lunch, you can enjoy their signature dish, a fusion of Nepali spice curry and French cuisine. The "Curry Chicken (R/1500 yen)" features herb-crusted chicken and round potatoes, served with rice cooked in broth and aromatic whole grain bread. The curry is quite runny but surprisingly spicy, leaving a lingering flavor that keeps you wanting more. It also seems like a great spot for dinner. Notably, they have a private room on the first floor where dogs are allowed, making it a delightful option for pet owners.

On this day, I decided to visit Carmine, an Italian restaurant, but it was temporarily closed. I thought about going to a nearby soup curry shop, but instead, I found a new curry place and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Chicken Curry for 1500 yen, which comes with both bread and rice. I enjoyed cutting the herb-grilled chicken with my knife as I ate. It was delicious, as were the potatoes. The curry had a sharp spiciness, and overall, it was very tasty. The restaurant was clean and hygienic. I will definitely visit again.

At this restaurant located just a few minutes' walk from Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station, tucked away down a small alley off the main street, you can enjoy a unique fusion of French cuisine and curry. The various curries, utilizing French techniques, are truly one-of-a-kind. The chicken curry, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. Namaste. I call myself the Curry King. March 3rd. Once again, I was let down by the mysterious closure of my favorite curry shop in Kagurazaka. Oh no, it’s over… long live curry… Just as the light of my life was about to flicker out, I noticed a nearby unfamiliar curry shop gently smiling at me like a cute little bunny. The sign read "Rionerapan." At that moment, there was no choice but to step inside. "Rionerapan" opened in August 2023 and is still a new establishment. To cut to the chase, it was far more remarkable than I had imagined. Not only did it revive my dying spirit, but it was also a curry shop run by a unique Japanese owner who used to be a French chef. The concept here is surprisingly… a fusion of French and Nepalese cuisine! ◆ Curry Chicken The first thing I must highlight is the chicken. It's incredibly delicious. The chicken is coated in herb-infused breadcrumbs and baked to perfection, emitting an enticing aroma. This approach definitely reflects French culinary techniques. It immerses beautifully in the chef's special spicy curry, which has a smoothness that makes it feel like a sauce designed specifically for the chicken. As the name suggests, the chicken truly takes center stage in this curry chicken dish. Of course, it pairs wonderfully with their house-made whole wheat bread. And then there’s the moon-like potato. It’s probably "Inca no Mezame" (a type of potato), which has a rich flavor and a strong umami. Eating it is like a delightful burst of sweetness. With that, the flickering flame of my culinary passion was reignited. The name "Rionerapan" means "lion and rabbit" in French. Lion and rabbit. French and Nepalese. Serendipitously discovered, this shop beautifully blends these two contrasting elements, creating an astonishing new world right here.
