The "Kagurazaka Sushi Yaei" annex opened in Kagurazaka on February 3rd. It is a hidden gem located just a short walk from Kagurazaka, nestled in a residential area, featuring an elegant exterior. Upon entering the restaurant, the hinoki wood counter catches your eye. The bright and friendly chefs and staff make you feel welcome, creating a comfortable atmosphere. You can indulge in sensational dishes like soft, melting chutoro and fresh crab prepared right before your eyes. From now until April 30th, the usual price for the premium course, normally ¥15,600, is reduced to ¥13,500. This quality at this price is truly satisfying. The premium course includes: - Sweetfish and rape blossom clear soup - Top-quality ankimo from Hokkaido - Hand rolls - Grilled scallops with seaweed - Bluefin tuna akami - Bluefin tuna chutoro - Grilled kinmedai from Choshi - Soy sauce marinated ikura - Anago from Tsushima - Five seasonal sushi pieces - Tamagoyaki - Soup - Dessert

The course is great, but on days when I really want something specific, I prefer to order à la carte! To my delight, Mr. Yasae was not just focused on courses and gladly accommodated my request for à la carte options! It made me so happy! No matter how many times I repeat the same fish, he prepares it with a smile ^_^ The atmosphere is also wonderful, and I definitely want to visit this restaurant again.

A quiet sushi restaurant located in a back alley at the top of Kagurazaka. While it's a bit pricey for dinner, you can enjoy good quality sushi at a reasonable price during lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the sushi was served, often two pieces at a time. Thank you for the meal!

I had high hopes, but it was disappointing. As seen in the photo, the portion size was decent, but we finished everything in just 45 minutes, making for a rather unsettling lunch. There was no waiting line, yet we were the only two customers inside. However, it seemed like the staff wasn't paying attention to the customers at all, as the food was served extremely quickly. By the time we finished our starter beer, our meal was already done. The lack of background music made the place even quieter, making conversation difficult, and the occasional ringing of the reservation phone had the owner rushing around. Despite the quiet atmosphere, it felt chaotic. The sushi quality was pretty average, almost like a routine operation, but unfortunately, the taste wasn't great. To say it was at the level of conveyor belt sushi wouldn't be an exaggeration. I had high expectations for the sea urchin, but it had a fishy taste. Only the medium fatty tuna was somewhat acceptable, not bad. The prices for drinks were generally high. However, at this price point, the ambiance and service did not encourage me to want to drink more. I believe Kagurazaka is one of the competitive areas for sushi, so it might be worth considering some improvements.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice, and the chef who prepared the sushi was kind and had a wonderful smile. The sushi was not only beautifully presented but also delicious, and it was really enjoyable to watch the sushi change shape as the chef skillfully used his knife. This restaurant was truly wonderful, and I definitely want to go back again. *Please note that the restaurant opens exactly at the reservation time, so be careful during the intense heat. There is no shaded area nearby, so it's better to arrive just in time.*

I recently visited Sushi Yae's Bettei, located just one minute on foot from Exit 1b of Kagurazaka Station. It just opened this year and is nestled quietly in a back alley, creating a very sophisticated atmosphere! I enjoyed the high-end course for dinner, priced at 15,400 yen, featuring a bounty of seasonal ingredients. Here's what I had: - Hokkaido corn soup - Mozuku seaweed and junsai (water plant) - Grilled katsuo (bonito) with straw - Charcoal-grilled tachiuo (beltfish) - Sushi (kochi, hiragai, ikura, kuromutsu, chutoro, torigai, aburi kinmedai, akami no zuke, aburi nodoguro, murasaki uni) - Tekkamaki (tuna rolls) - Tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette) - Clear fish soup - Dessert (yuzu sorbet or matcha ice cream with black honey) Everything was incredibly delicious, but my personal favorites were the grilled nodoguro and the hiragai sushi! The nodoguro was rich and melted in my mouth, while the hiragai was large and incredibly sweet. The portion sizes were generous, and I was very satisfied! This is a great place for business meetings or dates. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I previously learned that Yasunaka in Kagurazaka will open in February 2024, and the store has a clean and refreshing interior. The restaurant is located in a back alley of Kagurazaka, creating an excellent atmosphere. I reserved the "Bettei" premium course. ● Appetizers: The selection included sea bream in salted sauce, mozuku seaweed with junsai, boiled octopus and flat shell clams with Tosa jelly, and a tapenade of knife fish. These appetizers definitely set the tone for the sushi experience. This time, the dishes were light and refreshing, which was perfect for the hot summer season. The boiled octopus with flat shell clams and Tosa jelly was especially refreshing and suited the humid weather. ● The sushi course included about ten pieces, including nigiri and rolls. The rice was on the smaller side while the toppings were large. It had a subtle hint of red vinegar. The sea urchin was particularly abundant, without any off-putting smell, and was simply outstanding. ● For dessert, you can choose from two types of ice cream made with Jersey milk, with an option to add black syrup and soybean flour topping. It was rich and delicious. ● Regarding drinks, they serve Master's Dream beer, and there is a wide selection of sake. Prices might be slightly higher than average. I ordered "Hirotokawa" from Fukushima (special junmai), which was light and paired well with the sushi. ~ Overall Review ~ The interior is new and creates a very comfortable space. Yasunaka in Kagurazaka is bright and family-friendly, while Bettei has dimmer lighting that is perfect for dates. Both places were excellent. Thank you for the meal.

This was my first visit. My partner made a reservation for 6:30 PM on the weekend. The restaurant has only counter seating, which made me feel a bit nervous. We were shown to a seat in the middle. Before sitting down, I greeted the head chef, but I wondered if he noticed me. Later, I thought maybe he’s a bit shy, which was kind of cute. That shy chef is supported by a fantastic assistant next to him. They make a wonderful team. It was a charming place. Thank you for the meal!

On February 3rd of this year, I had the pleasure of dining at "Kagurazaka Sushi Yaei Bettei," which just opened. As the name suggests, it is a separate location of "Kagurazaka Sushi Yaei." **Occasion**: Perfect for dates, anniversaries, family gatherings, and business meetings. **Location**: A 1-2 minute walk from Kagurazaka Station. **Visit Time/Day**: Sunday at 6 PM. **Recommended Points**: - Just a minute walk from Kagurazaka Station - Exquisite Edomae sushi - A variety of rare sake paired with sushi This sushi restaurant is tucked away in a hidden spot in Kagurazaka. The interior exudes luxury, making it suitable for a date. **Our Order**: **Seasonal Appetizers and Premium Natural Bluefin Tuna Chutoro with Edomae Sushi "Upper Course" - 15,600 yen** A course featuring select seasonal ingredients that change with the seasons. - **Sakura Sea Bream with Kujo Green Onion and Shio-an**: A gentle flavor with a perfect balance of saltiness from the salmon roe, complemented by refreshing yuzu citrus. - **Junsai**: This junsai from Akita has a slippery texture and a delightful crunch. The delicious Japanese broth adds to its refreshing taste. - **Bakudan**: A specialty of Yaei made with luxurious ingredients like salmon roe, sea urchin, bluefin tuna, and caviar. Mix it well and savor it on nori; it melts in your mouth. The crunchy pickled daikon adds a nice touch! - **Grilled Sawara Fish**: The grilled fish was rich and fluffy, and the pickled daikon was fresh and delicious. **Sushi Comes Next**: Snapper / Scallop / Horse Mackerel / Salmon Roe / Chutoro / Squid / Otoro / Black Mutsu / Red Meat / Sea Urchin / Tekka Maki / Tamago The sushi rice is slightly smaller and made using red vinegar. This rice has little sugar in it, so it’s easy to eat without feeling bloated. The gari (pickled ginger) served at the beginning was also delicious. All the fish was incredibly tasty, but my favorites were the chutoro and otoro, both from Miyagi. They melt in your mouth! I love sea urchin and rarely have the chance to eat such delicious sea urchin. After enjoying ten pieces of sushi, we were served a bowl of soup, which was flavorful fish stock. **Dessert**: We had jersey ice cream and Amaou strawberry ice cream. The ice creams were rich and delicious. The staff provided warm service while still maintaining a sense of luxury. I also enjoyed chatting with the chefs!

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit a restaurant in Kagurazaka that is a new location for a place that previously operated in Ebisu. The restaurant is tucked away down a hidden alley. One of the standout dishes was a tai (sea bream) with a yuzu-scented sauce, which was delightful. I also enjoyed the firefly squid topped with a vinegar miso and the grilled sawfish, which had wonderful fat content. The meal started with red squid sushi. The rice was prepared in a compact style, and we had horse mackerel and very tender raw octopus seasoned with salt and sudachi. It seemed like today's octopus was particularly thick! Next, we had marinated bonito and lightly grilled surf clams, all of which were delicious. After the salmon roe roll, we moved on to tuna and then enjoyed a sweet cut close to the fatty tuna, which was absolutely amazing. Following that, we had sea urchin and a Japanese omelette, after which the fatty tuna roll was served. The cheerful banter from the chefs added to the enjoyable experience.

I just had sushi at Kagurazaka! The premium course includes 10 pieces of sushi and seasonal appetizers for 15,400 yen, but right now you can enjoy it for 13,500 yen! The octopus was thick and super chewy, it was amazing! And the gari (ginger) was delicious✨ I talked to the chef about being from Kumamoto, and he served me a rare sake made with rice from Kumamoto❤️ Surely everyone knows about "Mori no Kuma-san"? It's a sake that was created this year to support the restoration of Kumamoto Castle! It was tasty✨ The restaurant just opened in February this year, so everything is really clean! I also enjoyed chatting with the two chefs. -------------------------------------------------- Thank you for reading my review. I hope it inspires you to enjoy some delicious food! ☺️ Likes and comments would really encourage me! --------------------------------------------------

I was finally able to visit Bettei, a place I had wanted to go to for a long time. It's just a few minutes' walk from Kagurazaka Station. The area is surrounded by soba shops, local Chinese restaurants, and cafés, and I felt once again that it's a nice neighborhood. I arrived in front of the restaurant five minutes before opening, and the door was opened from inside for me to enter. Just as I sat down and received a draft beer, my friend, whom I was meeting, arrived. We ordered the lunch course and added uni, nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), abalone, and hokki-gai (surf clam), as well as toro sawarazukuri (a type of sushi roll). We were also recommended two sake options, Isojiman and Hirotokawa, both served in small cups. Everything was natural and easy to eat, yet the flavors of each ingredient were deep, allowing me to slowly savor them in my mouth. The newly renovated, clean interior was comfortable—neither too cramped nor overly spacious—and the calm atmosphere made for a relaxing experience. I will definitely come again.

The new wooden scent is very comforting. The Atelier Kota in Kagurazaka is relatively nearby. I chose the 3,850 yen "Raku" course. The pieces of fish are large, and the rice is on the smaller side, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the fish. The toppings are delicious, and there’s a bold use of wasabi and citrus, creating a tingling sensation. The rice was soft and easy to eat. The bamboo shoot at the start and the fish bone soup at the end were both very tasty, and the use of tin for the dishes allowed us to enjoy wonderfully chilled drinks.

In Kagurazaka, there's a hidden sushi restaurant that perfectly captures the calm Japanese atmosphere characteristic of this refined area known as "Kagurazaka." With its historical charm and sophisticated image, Kagurazaka is also renowned as a competitive gourmet district. Recently, a new sushi restaurant opened in this bustling area, which is a separate location from an existing shop in Ebisu. This new branch is somewhat of a hidden gem, offering a luxurious ambiance ideal for dining with friends or for a date. Here’s what I enjoyed there: The sumptuous course featuring delicious appetizers and sushi was simply outstanding, with each dish providing excellent value. Among them, here are the highlights: 1. **Abalone Sushi** - It’s rare to have abalone served as sushi. The chewy texture and the delicious flavor of the abalone combined wonderfully with the rice. 2. **Bluefin Tuna Chutoro** - A classic sushi favorite, chutoro is never tiresome. The sweet richness of the chutoro fat blended perfectly with the rice, creating a delightful taste. 3. **Sea Urchin** - As a big fan of sea urchin, I found it incredibly tasty. Eating it plain is good, but with a touch of salt to enhance its umami flavor, it was exquisite. Other impressive dishes included: - Firefly squid and bamboo shoots - Hairy crab and scallops with Tosa vinegar jelly - Foie gras chawanmushi topped with snow crab’s sweet soy sauce - Tempura of young river fish and king crab - Grilled eel nigiri - Horse mackerel, white squid, bonito, cherry blossom yellowtail, and various other delectable sushi options like ikura gunkan, marinated tuna, dry gourd rolls, and even jersey ice cream for dessert.

- Bamboo shoots from Kagoshima and firefly squid from Toyama: The aroma and crunchy texture of the bamboo shoots are fantastic! The firefly squid is super fresh with great sweetness and mouthfeel, and the vinegar miso pairs perfectly! ✨ - Snow crab and foie gras chawanmushi (steamed egg custard): This is a chawanmushi that will remain in my memory for a lifetime—it’s that delicious! I think it should be a regular item. The richness of the foie gras and the umami of the snow crab create a perfect balance of gentle taste and sweetness. It’s incredibly good! - King crab and wild fuki (butterbur) tempura: The king crab tempura is hot, fluffy, and so delicious! The bitterness and aroma of the wild fuki are exquisite. I love spring mountain vegetables! - Premium Yaeawa specialty "Bakudan": A luxurious combination of caviar, sea urchin, and bluefin tuna with salmon roe. The melt-in-your-mouth bluefin tuna, the sweetness of sea urchin, and the saltiness of the salmon roe are amazing together! When you add the crunchy texture of pickled daikon and eat it wrapped in seaweed, happiness bursts in your mouth, making me smile naturally. - Grilled eel: The skin is crispy, and the flesh is sweet and melts in your mouth. Both yuzu pepper and wasabi bring out different, delicious flavors. All the snacks here have a level of quality that is outstanding. - Nigiri sushi: - Hiragai (razor clam): Moist with umami and a hint of sweetness amid its lightness. ✨ - Horse mackerel: Crunchy texture with a sweet aftertaste, complemented by the spice of ginger and green onion. - Nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch): Grilled for a fragrant, plump bite. ✨ - Scallop: Thick and melts in your mouth. - Salmon roe: Bursting and melts away with a refreshing yuzu aroma on the aftertaste! ✨ - Sweet shrimp: Huge! The texture is firm yet melts in your mouth. - Red meat: Light but packed with rich umami flavor. ✨ - Goldeneye snapper: A touch of grilling brings out incredible flavor; it melts in your mouth. While I love braised dishes, this sweetness can only be fully appreciated in sushi. - Chutoro (medium fatty tuna): An artistic creation! The fat content is unbelievable! The aftertaste is sweet, and as soon as it enters your mouth, a rush of sweet fat bursts out. - Akai ika (red squid): Incredible elasticity and a satisfying crunch, yet it melts beautifully! The acidity of sudachi (Japanese citrus) is spot on. - Horse mackerel uni: It melts in your mouth with rich depth and wonderful sweetness. - Tekka maki (tuna rolls): By the time I’m eating rolls, I’m truly full. Everything was delicious! - Fish soup: Full of fish flavor that seeps into my body. - Egg: Classic, lightly sweet and moist dashi omelet! ✨ - Sweets: Jazzy milk ice cream is ridiculously good! The black sugar syrup and soybean flour are a perfect match, and the sweetness of the cherry blossom ice cream is the best!

This is my first visit to Yae Bettei, which opened in February of this year. The restaurant has only 12 counter seats. We started with Kyoto's champagne "Tegumi." Although it is made from Delaware grapes, the carbonation is mild, and it has a unique sweetness along with notes of green apple. For the appetizer, we had firefly squid with sansho leaves, bamboo shoots, bonito, and chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard). The firefly squid, seasoned with leaves from the garden, was incredibly fresh and aromatic, and it was soft enough to eat as is. The bonito was served with a refreshing sauce made from onion and ginger. The sushi consisted of 12 pieces: scallop, horse mackerel, tuna, sea urchin, eel, and salmon roe, all of which were fresh and well-prepared. The rice, slightly firm and made with red vinegar, had a rich flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed even the finishing touch, the roll made with the siphon of the ark shell. I’ve discovered another great restaurant in Kagurazaka.

If you're looking for a casual and enjoyable sushi experience at the counter, I recommend this restaurant: —————Sushi Yae Bettei Kagurazaka————— I recently visited the new Bettei location, which opened on February 3rd, as a branch of the popular restaurant "Kagurazaka Sushi Yae." The sushi shop is located about 30 seconds on foot from Kagurazaka Station, tucked away in a back alley surrounded by residential buildings, with a luxurious exterior illuminated by the shop's light. The course was plentiful and made me very happy! Despite being so filling, it had great value for the high sushi quality. My favorites included the melt-in-your-mouth nodoguro and medium fatty tuna, the burst of flavor from the soy-sauce marinated salmon roe, and the satisfying texture of the live octopus! **【Restaurant Details】** Counter seating for 12. **Recommended Usage Scenarios:** ☑︎ For a date ☑︎ For small gatherings ☑︎ It seems you can also reserve the whole place.
