The volume of the tempura rice bowl is huge! There are two options, a tempura rice bowl and a tempura rice box, priced at 1000 yen and 800 yen, respectively. When I asked the staff, they mentioned that there are two fewer ingredients and the rice portion is smaller. The tempura rice bowl includes 9 ingredients (shrimp, squid, eel, smelt, okra, bell pepper, eggplant, shiitake mushroom, pumpkin) and more than 3 bowls of rice. It is delicious with plenty of sweet sauce, but I couldn't finish it all.

Today, I visited the dining hall called Isoya in Esashi-cho, located in Doonan. It is situated next to the Yellow Globe, away from the town center. As it is a dining hall, the menu is extensive with set meals available at a reasonable price. I chose the squid tempura rice bowl and fox udon from the menu. The fox udon had soft noodles and a large piece of fried tofu, which was delicious. The broth reminded me of the nostalgic taste of the standing udon I used to eat during my student days. The squid tempura rice bowl had a generous portion and was crispy and tasty, although it seemed like there were fewer squid pieces due to the decrease in catch. Both the udon and rice bowl had a substantial amount, almost enough for one person, and I left the restaurant feeling full. At 750 yen, I felt that it was a great deal. I am interested in trying other set meals and the chicken tempura set meal that was displayed on the wall, so I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

In April 2016, we decided to have lunch after moving out and cleaning the house in the morning. We chose a local restaurant called "磯屋" and ordered a seafood bowl and a ramen set. The seafood bowl was generous with shrimp, scallops, conger eel, smelt, squid, and more. It was only 700 yen, which we found to be a great deal. The ramen set was also satisfying, and we enjoyed complimentary coffee after the meal. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, with manga books available for reading. The owner seemed friendly and the food was delicious. It was a pleasant dining experience, and we felt grateful for finding such a nice place to have lunch.

This is a restaurant located on the seaside of the area with home centers and supermarkets, heading towards Atsuzawa from the town of Esashi. The restaurant has a parking lot next to it. In rural areas, dining establishments tend to be unexpectedly expensive once you enter, but this one was different! The interior layout includes 4-seater tables and sunken kotatsu seating, making it comfortable for large groups as well. There is a wide selection of comics available, so you won't get bored while waiting for your food. The menu is extensive, ranging from individual dishes to lunch sets, which can be customized to suit your preferences. The restaurant also seems to offer delivery service, as the phone rang a few times during my visit. I arrived just after 11 am, and although the restaurant was somewhat empty, it took a little while for the food to arrive. However, the taste and portion size were satisfying. As I was eating, about half of the restaurant filled up with customers. I look forward to trying their curry dishes next time.

Well, it's a typical set meal restaurant. The prices are relatively cheap and the portions are generous. I recommend the "soba" noodles. This area is known for its delicious soba, and the soba served at this set meal restaurant is surprisingly tasty. It's much better than eating at a mediocre soba shop. The other menu items are also quite delicious. The lunch set menu will fill you up. This place is a great choice for salarymen on a budget who want to eat a satisfying meal. Just be aware that they are closed at night and on Sundays.
