The season for Quanzhou water eggplants has arrived! Among summer vegetables, eggplants are my favorite ♥️ Quanzhou's water eggplants are juicy and succulent, boasting a sweetness like fruit! They are delicious in lightly pickled dishes or in nukazuke, but when made into tempura, it's a luxurious treat. The tempura made from these rich water eggplants paired with the firm and chewy Sanuki udon noodles at "Utsuwa" in Osaka is an unbeatable combination! The Sanuki udon noodles, made by the owner who trained in Kagawa, have a sharp and firm texture. The tempura is crispy and the water eggplants are thick and juicy - a perfect match with the hearty noodles! The tempura chicken is also well-seasoned, almost like karaage! The noodles are served with green onions, ginger, grated daikon radish, and lemon - a classic Sanuki style. I love the variety of Sanuki udon available these days, but I particularly love the hearty noodles at Utsuwa! The owner of the restaurant, who was quite stylish, was a sight to behold. He looked like a dedicated craftsman, dressed in a Hollister t-shirt, Apple watch, and vintage denim, showcasing a love for Americana fashion! The owner of a noodle shop may seem unapproachable as they diligently make noodles, but discovering such a stylish owner was quite charming! Dining establishments are not just about serving delicious food, but also about the connections between people, so one's character is very important. If I lived nearby, I would visit every day because I love it so much! Thank you for the wonderful meal (*´▽`人)

The atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming, and we were seated promptly upon entering. The menu had photos and clear recommendations from the manager, making it easy to choose. The udon noodles were very chewy and satisfying. The only downside was the limited parking space. I would prefer to visit in winter rather than summer, and I look forward to coming back again in the colder months.

A shop with many regular customers. The owner warmly greets everyone, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The menu is extensive and keeps you coming back for more. There are recommended dishes marked with a checkmark on the menu. I ordered the owner's recommended shrimp tempura and mochi udon. The dish came with fried tofu, shrimp tempura, and mochi topping. When you eat the fried tofu, its broth mixes with the udon broth, creating a unique and delicious flavor combination. The balance of flavors in the udon was excellent. Thank you for the meal.

This udon restaurant used to have its main store in Nishi-Temma, but now it is only located here in Kaizuka. It is said to be from the Senshu region, so the brand "Senshu Nasu" is a must-try. I ordered the udon with sliced water eggplant and chicken tempura. The water eggplant slices were too thick, but maybe it was because it was just at the end of the season. The flavor was a bit lacking. The chicken tempura was like fried chicken. The udon noodles were firm and had a good texture, likely due to the chef's training experience in the original area.

After waiting for about an hour, I finally had the udon noodles✨ They were truly delicious, I was overwhelmed with joy!! The texture of the udon was different! This is the most delicious udon I've ever had!! I would definitely make the effort to come back to this restaurant! In the midst of temperatures nearing 40 degrees, I went to buy peaches from Arakawa and on the way back, I revisited this place after 4 years. I chose the Maiko Toriten Bukkake (cold) from the many menu options and ordered it. It took about 15 minutes for the dish to arrive (carefully made by one person so it may take some time). I lightly mixed it and started with the noodles! The udon noodles are slightly thick with a good chewy texture, very delicious! The tempura was crispy and went well with the udon. I finished it in no time, next time I will get a large serving! Thank you for the meal.

After finishing work in Takashi City and heading towards Wakayama City, I stopped by this restaurant for lunch on the way. It was a hot day, so I ordered the cold kashiwa tempura bukkake udon. They serve freshly boiled udon, so it takes about 15 minutes for the dish to arrive. The udon has a nice chewy texture and tastes delicious. It reminds me of the firm and tasty udon I used to have when I was on a business trip in Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture, at the "Umajika" restaurant. It was a delicious udon that brought back memories. Thank you for the meal.

Visited before 1:00 PM. There are 10 counter seats and 1 table. It was almost full. Ordered the Chicken Tempura Bukkake with Chikuwa Tempura Rice. It cost 1265 yen. The noodles are boiled from raw and took less than 20 minutes to arrive. The noodles are thick and firm. The noodles have a strong wheat aroma. The tempura is a highlight of this restaurant. The timing of frying is well done. Especially the chicken tempura was well seasoned with a strong garlic flavor. It was incredibly delicious, surpassing even specialized fried chicken shops. The chikuwa was also made with good quality ingredients, with a fresh fish flavor. The dipping sauce was just right in terms of flavor, not too strong or too weak. The amount of sesame, grated radish, and green onions was carefully calculated. It was nice that the owner spoke to me at the time of payment. My palate and heart were satisfied, and I received energy.

Visited on Saturday afternoon. There were a few customers already seated, but I was able to sit down right away. I chose the Kaki and Toriten Bukkake (cold) from the extensive menu. While waiting for my order, which took about 15 minutes to prepare, I observed the master skillfully preparing dishes. The meal arrived, and I started by squeezing lemon over the udon and mixing it. I dipped the tempura in the broth and began eating. The smooth and shiny udon had a satisfying chewiness, the kaki tempura was juicy, allowing me to enjoy the natural flavor of oysters. The toriten had a flavorful batter and juicy meat. Although the portion size might be a bit small, I was very satisfied with the elegant taste and quality of the udon and tempura. I look forward to my next visit and deciding what to order next time. Thank you for the meal.

I made it in time for the last order at 20:30. There is a parking lot available. The restaurant has one counter seat and one table seat. The owner was the only one working. I waited for about 20 minutes until the food was ready. The Tori-Ten Curry was delicious, with a good combination of chicken tempura, curry, and udon. The Kashiwa-Ten Bukkake Cold Udon had 4 pieces of chicken tempura and the udon had a great texture and was tasty. The Ebi-Age Mochi had delicious shrimp and fried mochi with a good broth. Personally, I preferred the cold Sanuki Udon for its texture.

Utsuwari, an udon restaurant located a 12-15 minute walk from Higashi-Kashiwazuka Station, is a popular spot despite its somewhat difficult-to-reach location. It can get quite crowded during lunchtime, with lines forming. The restaurant has been selected as one of the top 5000 on Tabelog. Inside the restaurant, there is minimal interaction with the staff, and even when trying to place an order, there may be a lack of response. The elderly owner who cooks the udon is friendly, though, so it's a shame about the service. I tried the Maiko mushroom tempura and aged-san udon this time. The udon, a Kansai-style dish, had a sweet and flavorful broth that was just right, along with a firm and tasty saltiness. The combination of carrots, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes in the vegetable-filled tempura was excellent, with a crispy texture that paired well with the broth. The restaurant is located along a main street, making it a convenient stop for a meal while out for a drive. Be sure to visit and enjoy the delicious food! Thank you for the meal!

When it's the season for water eggplants, I always remember Utsuwa-san in Higashi Kaizuka♪ After going to the gym, my partner and I would meet at Futamihama Station after work and drive there together♡ This time, we had the delicious bukkake udon with water eggplant and chicken tempura as always! The udon noodles were firm as usual, but with a pleasant wheat flavor. The water eggplant tempura was incredibly juicy and the chicken tempura was seasoned well, making it perfect with beer. The water eggplant menu is available until November, so I want to visit more frequently within a shorter span of time. Although sometimes I think about sneaking out to visit without telling my partner after the gym, the parking lot is usually full and we can't find a spot... It's a popular place, so it can't be helped, right? If the timing is right, I'd love to visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal! m(_ _)m

The hospital finished much earlier than expected, so I decided to go to Utsuwa for lunch, a place I had been wanting to try for a while. Since I didn't have a car, I took the JR Hanwa Line to Higashi-Kaizuka Station and walked about 10 minutes to get there. I arrived around the opening time at 11:30. There were two groups waiting, but I managed to get a seat on the first go. I ordered the large portion of kashiwa tempura udon. It took less than 15 minutes for the dish to arrive. The presentation of the udon was a bit sloppy, but the surface looked very clean. When I took a bite, I found the udon to be smooth on the surface but quite firm in texture, providing a good chewiness. The saltiness was not too strong, allowing the wheat aroma to come through. The broth for the tempura udon was a bit light in flavor and aroma for my taste. The kashiwa tempura was made from chicken thigh meat, well seasoned and very delicious. The juiciness of the chicken thigh was evident, and what I appreciated the most was that the fat didn't linger in the mouth, making it not too heavy. However, the udon tended to break easily when pulled, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, I felt that with a bit more kneading and resting, the udon could be even better. Although Higashi-Kaizuka is quite far, I believe it was worth the trip. Thank you for the meal.

I waited for about 30 minutes with 2 groups ahead of me during a Sunday lunch visit. The cooking process is slow as they carefully boil the tempura after taking the order. There were many menu options to choose from, and I had a hard time deciding what to eat. The eggplant tempura and bukkake also looked delicious. I ordered the chicken tempura with butter which was tasty, but when I tried a bit of the bukkake that my companion ordered, I personally found it more delicious! The chicken tempura with butter was quite rich and the portion was large, so one dish was enough for me. The owner was friendly during payment, asking if the meal was enjoyable and where we were from. Although the owner may seem like a skilled craftsman, they are kind.

I've been wanting to go there for about 10 years. That day suddenly arrived while I was on my way back from an errand in Wakayama. It was lunchtime and I needed to eat something, but I had a dinner meeting at 5 pm, so I thought, "I'll just have some Sarrad Udon!" When I looked it up, I found it. Oh, it's the restaurant I've always wanted to go to. Let's go. When I arrived, it was full, but after a few minutes of waiting, I got a seat inside. There were about 8 seats at the counter and maybe one table? Most of the customers could face the staff. I went with a friend, and I had the Chicken Tempura Kamatama Udon, while my friend had the Tempura Set Meal. The owner was very talkative and friendly, asking about how the food tasted and thanking us. It took a while for the udon to come out because the noodles were thick. The taste was good, with a nice texture, similar to udon from Kagawa. My friend had the warm udon, and they also enjoyed it. I didn't make a mistake in choosing this place. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

It is located about 600m east of Higashi-Kaizuka Station on the Hanwa Line, with parking space for 5 cars next to the shop. The interior has 10 L-shaped counter seats and 1 table for 4 people. When I visited on Saturday at 6:20 pm, there were 4 other customers. The shop is run by a skilled chef and one female staff member. They serve delicious chilled cider in a glass. The menu has a variety of options, but I decided to order the "Maitake Mushroom and Tempura Udon (Cold)" for 968 yen. The chef fries the tempura and cooks the udon, so you need to wait patiently. The chilled udon is firm and requires careful chewing, almost like giving a dog a chew toy. The broth is mildly sweet and served in small portions. You can intentionally dip the udon in the broth at the bottom of the bowl. The tempura ingredients include sweet potato, pumpkin, carrot, burdock root, and maitake mushroom, and they are crispy and delicious. It was a delightful meal.

I searched on Tabelog for a restaurant on my way back from Kaizuka City. It was my first time here. The operation seemed to be run by a couple or two people. I ordered the Toriten Takekama Udon Bukkake. The udon had a good texture, and the Toriten had a strong garlic flavor which was delicious. At the time of payment, the owner apologized for making us wait and was very friendly.

I called about 20 minutes before visiting to confirm availability, and they said they had space! I visited on a Sunday around 6:30 pm and indeed there was space. The turnover seemed fast. I ordered the oyster and mushroom udon, where you could choose between broth or dipping style, and they recommended the dipping style, so I went with that. The tempura was crispy, and the tempura chicken had a strong flavor. The mushrooms were also good. The udon was just the right thickness and delicious. The owner was friendly too.

Lunch time just in time♪ I ordered the chicken tempura with butter instead of the rice bowl set♪ The large and crispy chicken tempura was delicious♪ It went well with the light mixed rice♪ The egg in the rice bowl was warm, so it was not too hard, and mixing it with the egg made it even better♪ The butter flavor was subtle♪ You can add soy sauce, black pepper, or any other condiments to your liking♪ I finished the meal by adding hot water to the remaining egg and soy sauce mixture♪ Thank you for the meal♪ (*´ω`*)

On February 14, 2023, I visited a restaurant with a rating of 3.68 on Tabelog. I arrived at 5:30 pm and there was no wait. The restaurant has a parking lot with space for 5 cars next to the building. Inside, there are 10 seats at the counter and one table for 4 people. I ordered the following dishes: Oyster Curry Udon, Toriten Bukkake Udon with extra egg topping (cold, large serving), and Yakakugohan (large serving). The food was served in about 20 minutes and everything was delicious! The udon noodles were thick and chewy, and the curry broth was rich and had a nice Japanese flavor. The toppings were served at room temperature, giving them a nice texture. The flavors were well-balanced, not too light or too heavy. The staff was friendly and I will definitely come back again.
