After the closure of "Ganko Washoku Osaka Sayama," it was transformed into "Sayama Saryou" and has now been renewed as "Ganko Osaka Sayama." The interior hasn't changed much, and the atmosphere feels quite similar to before, though it has a slightly aged charm. The menu has shifted towards offering casual kaiseki (traditional multi-course meal) dining.
This time, I visited for lunch with a friend, and with such a diverse menu, we had quite a bit of trouble deciding what to order. We were seated at a bright table with a view of the garden and eventually settled on the following:
✱ Special Soft-Style Bento (with Fish Shabu) - ¥3,500
This included fish shabu-shabu, a selection of appetizers, sashimi, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), tempura, seasonal steamed rice, and red miso soup. Cooking the fish in a paper pot for shabu-shabu was a lot of fun! The tempura was crispy, the four types of appetizers, seasonal rice, sashimi, and chawanmushi made for quite a substantial meal.
✱ Domestic Beef Sukiyaki Set - ¥3,168
This set came with rice cooked in a clay pot, sukiyaki with domestic beef, udon noodles, tempura, and red miso soup. The sukiyaki pot was large, similar to what you’d use for a family meal at home, and there was a good amount of beef. It seemed there was also a full serving of udon! This meal was also incredibly filling.
✱ Draft Beer - ¥693
Since we were greedy and ordered a hearty lunch, we ended up quite stuffed... I know I shouldn't be so indulgent, but it was hard to resist! Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal!
