I usually think dining alone at a Chinese restaurant is a bit of a poor value, but with some errands nearby and a busy work schedule, I couldn't help but think about black vinegar sweet and sour pork and had to go. But enjoying this meaningful time of serving myself my favorite dish at my own pace is wonderful! (Most of the time, I’m in charge of serving small plates for everyone else.) I asked the staff what portion size would be good for one person, and it turned out to be a delicious meal. I feel like I’ve discovered a new enjoyment. Thank you for the wonderful meal! I'll be back again!

We made a reservation for 11:30 and visited with our family of four, including two children. It's great that the children's chairs are sturdy, which is very reassuring for us as we have lively kids. We ordered the lunch course for 1,780 yen, along with steamed buns and two beers. The meal included appetizers and dim sum, as well as shrimp in chili sauce and dessert, making it quite a good value. We chose the main dishes of noodle soup and fried rice, both of which were delicious. The lunch buffet is also very helpful for families with children. Thank you for the meal!

I had visited this restaurant a few times for lunch, but it was my first time going in the evening. The price range is very attractive and budget-friendly. This time, I ordered mapo tofu, hot and sour soup, and stir-fried beef with green peppers. The mapo tofu and stir-fried beef were truly delicious, and I really want to have them again. The hot and sour soup was different from what I was used to in Taiwan, so it wasn't what I expected. Overall, the food was delicious. The restaurant's interior is richly decorated, creating an Asian atmosphere. I definitely want to visit again!

When I craved Chinese food, my friend invited me to this restaurant. The shrimp in chili sauce was absolutely delicious... Since we came in an odd number, everyone was kind and there were leftovers, so I indulged and had the last piece. The shrimp was plump and just the best... The Mapo tofu also had a perfectly balanced spiciness that was addictive! Since we went in a large group, I couldn't eat much, but it might be worth returning just to have these dishes again.

I always saw a sign for sweet and sour pork, so I decided to try it. I had previously enjoyed the mapo tofu, which also influenced my decision. As I went further inside, I found a place with an Asian-style dining atmosphere. During lunch, you can go and take as much rice, porridge, soup, cold dishes, and tea as you want. The restaurant was incredibly busy. As for the sweet and sour pork, it was so tender that it fell apart when I tried to break it. The sauce may be divisive in terms of taste preferences. I'm looking forward to trying different dishes next time!

I visited "China Dining あRaま Kagurazaka," which is located just outside Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station on the Toei Oedo Line in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The interior has a stylish atmosphere, and as someone who usually only goes to casual Chinese restaurants, it felt like a step up. The course I ordered was the "Open Commemorative Campaign Second Round Dinner Course 8 Dishes" for 2,980 yen, plus a 2-hour drink-all-you-can course for 2,000 yen. Course details: - Assorted 5 kinds of appetizers: The shrimp were packed full, and the edamame soaked in Shaoxing wine was delicious. - Abalone and scallop soup: It had a whole abalone in it! - Cantonese-style steamed chicken in lotus leaf. - Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and shark fin dumplings: The hot soup inside was delightful. - Famous black vinegar sweet and sour pork: It looked unlike any sweet and sour pork I’ve ever seen, with a rich black vinegar sauce and crispy meat that you absolutely must try. I even enjoyed half of the meat stuffed in a steamed bun. - Stir-fried bok choy and shiitake mushrooms with rock salt: Very colorful! - Homemade melting almond tofu: Rich and creamy. During the drink-all-you-can option, I enjoyed beer, shochu, red wine, highballs, and Shaoxing wine. I highly recommend trying their sweet and sour pork at least once! Thank you for the meal!

With a wide variety of dishes on the à la carte menu, it can be overwhelming to choose. To start, I had their famous black vinegar sweet and sour pork. It has a surprising shape. Although it's large, it is cooked thoroughly and remains tender. The black vinegar sauce is quite rich in flavor, so it seems necessary to enjoy it with some alcohol or, as recommended, wrapped in bread. The steamed dumplings were delicious, with hot, juicy meat sealed inside. The skin was firm, and we topped them with black vinegar. For snacks, I also tried the clams marinated in Shaoxing wine and the shrimp and cheese spring rolls. I was pleased to find that there is a happy hour for drinks until 7 PM, and although it isn't included, they also have pot-aged Shaoxing wine.

We went here for a workplace get-together! It’s a big plus that the all-you-can-drink menu includes Jass Highball! At first, I was puzzled by the restaurant's atmosphere, which didn’t feel very Chinese, but the food was incredibly delicious! Since my boss was there, I didn’t take many pictures, but the assorted appetizers were all flavorful and tasty! Additionally, we had abalone soup, fried rice, stir-fried dishes, and dessert! This dish that looked totally black turned out to be sweet and sour pork, and it was absolutely fantastic! You cut it yourself, and they serve it with steamed pork belly buns, which you can use to make a sandwich. The combination of the sweet bun and the tangy flavor of the sweet and sour pork was just amazing! The meat had a unique texture (in a good way, a bit firm). I definitely want to come back just to eat this!

Day: Wednesday Time: Around 1:00 PM Number of people: 2 Seating: Table Menu: Mapo Tofu Lunch Set (980 yen) After ordering the main menu, you can help yourself to drinks, two types of side dishes, Chinese porridge, rice, and soup, all available in a buffet style. Be careful not to fill up before the main dish arrives. You can adjust the spiciness of the Mapo Tofu when ordering; if you choose it to be spicy, it can be quite hot, depending on the person. There is a fairly rich variety of main menu items, so I would definitely visit again.

I was intrigued by a sign saying "Black Vinegar Pork is popular!" so I went to have lunch there. Just like when it first opened, the lunch menu includes a buffet-style selection of congee, soup, two side dishes, oolong tea, and lemon water. I ordered Mapo Tofu and Black Vinegar Pork, and they recommended adding steamed buns to the Black Vinegar Pork. The Mapo Tofu was spicy with a good kick from the doubanjiang, and the chunks of pork were large and filling. The Black Vinegar Pork hit me with a strong tangy flavor as soon as I took a bite. The large pieces of deep-fried pork were very satisfying. The dish with yam was substantial and might be a matter of personal taste, but overall, it was a hearty and great value meal.

I had a lunch dim sum set for 1380 yen that included 6 types of dim sum, almond tofu, congee, white rice, soup, pickled vegetables, a side dish, and a buffet of oolong tea and water. The soup dumplings and almond tofu were delicious, but the other items were just okay. I felt the pricing was a bit high. Since it was a dim sum meal, I would have liked to have some actual tea as well. Given the same price, I might have preferred to order a cold noodle dish instead. I've heard that the sweet and sour pork is famous, so I'd like to visit again someday to try that.

The restaurant features an antique cupboard, wooden frames fitted into the windows, and well-worn wooden floors, creating a pleasant atmosphere enhanced by colorful lamps and modern mirrors. ■ Order Details ◯ Specialty: Black Vinegar Sweet and Sour Pork - 1480 yen ◯ Hanamaki (steamed buns) - 100 yen Lunch includes a buffet of congee, rice, soup, two types of cold dishes, and drinks. The sweet and sour pork comes with large chunks of tender pork, with a crispy exterior yet a soft interior. The rich flavor of the black vinegar is wonderfully sweet and aromatic. The dish is accompanied by diced yam, and there’s also a small portion of almond jelly. The steamed chicken with mushrooms and black pepper congee was so delicious that I wanted to eat several bowls of it. ■ Miscellaneous This is a sister restaurant to Tōen in Nerima. I learned that Tōen was opened by three sisters from Dalian, China.

The new Chinese restaurant that has opened in the former Asian Palm location has kept the interior almost the same. Everything has a unique twist and is delicious! The flavors are very good. The specialty dish, black vinegar sweet and sour pork, is impressive! Both the sauce and the meat are tasty. Ordering the recommended bao as a side is definitely the way to go! The shrimp and cheese spring rolls were surprisingly unique and delicious; I was really impressed! The fried rice was also fluffy and tasty. I definitely want to go back!

After exiting the Tokyo Metro Oedo Line's Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station (A1 exit), I immediately knew I had arrived at the right place! For someone like me, who always loses direction after leaving the subway, this location is perfect. I visited the restaurant to celebrate its grand opening with three friends. The interior has a charming Chinese-inspired atmosphere, and the unique floor lamps are absolutely lovely. The background music was jazz, I think, although I was too engrossed in eating and chatting to remember clearly! The dishes were perfectly portioned, allowing us to enjoy every bite until the end. Usually, I end up feeling stuffed by the last course, but perhaps the oolong tea helped with that? (The tea was delicious, too.) My favorites were the black vinegar sweet and sour pork (the meat was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, and the sauce was superb!) and the braised fried rice with shark fin (amazing!). The almond jelly was also great, showing that they put effort into their desserts. With its direct access from the station, pleasant ambiance, and delicious food, this place is perfect for casual outings with friends, acquaintances, or family. I'm also really curious about their lunch buffet, so I'll definitely come back for lunch soon. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

A Chinese restaurant has opened in the former Asian Palm (Thai restaurant) location. On Sundays for lunch, you can enjoy a buffet with any menu item! I had the hot and sour noodle soup for 1,080 yen, and there were no additional fees for unlimited soup, congee, rice, two types of appetizers, oolong tea, and lemon water, which made me very happy. Unlike the usual Chinese dishes that are overloaded with cornstarch and sesame oil, everything was delicious and not too salty overall. The hot and sour noodle soup was generously filled with ingredients, and I could have eaten an infinite amount of the cabbage appetizer. The almond tofu was also delicious.

During lunch, I enjoyed a luxurious meal that didn't break the bank, yet the quality made me feel like I should have paid a bit more. I ordered the restaurant's signature dish, braised pork, but it was quite a lot for just one person. It was delicious! I could eat it, but it was a bit rich for me. I also got a Chinese-style steamed bun, but it didn't balance well with the rich pork—it was just too intense. I felt like I needed another bun to go with the deliciously rich pork, but it was too much for me. I imagine it's perfect for younger people as they can eat it like a burger. However, for me, it was a bit challenging. I ended up daintily tearing off pieces and putting the pork on top to eat it. I think it would taste even better if you could just take a bigger bite! This restaurant is ideal for large groups who want to share a variety of dishes, especially since it’s Chinese cuisine!

I thought Asian Palm had closed, but it reopened as a different kind of Chinese restaurant with hardly any renovations. I visited for lunch, and it was an interesting experience to eat authentic Chinese food next to an elephant sculpture that gives off an Southeast Asian vibe. The dishes are well-prepared, and you can help yourself to unlimited rice and soup.

I had the sweet and spicy stir-fried chicken with lotus root and yam for lunch. All lunch options come with a buffet that includes congee, soup, two types of cold dishes, and various drinks like Oolong tea. There’s also a dessert option of almond tofu. I’m happy to see that there is a good variety of lunch menu options.

I visited "A-ra-ma" located just near Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station. The place used to be an Asian restaurant, but it has changed to a Chinese restaurant. I ordered a la carte items including jellyfish, yurinchi (fried chicken with garlic soy sauce), black vinegar sweet and sour pork, scrambled eggs with tomato, and dan dan noodles. This time, the only cold dish was the jellyfish, which was plump and satisfying, raising my expectations. The yurinchi is served with the sauce separately, which I recommend pouring over the chicken before eating. The garlic-infused sauce pairs exceptionally well with the chicken. The black vinegar sweet and sour pork features large pieces of pork coated with starch and should be enjoyed wrapped in steamed buns, creating a delightful combination of sweetness and a crispy texture. The scrambled egg dish was substantial with a fluffy texture and plentiful eggs. The flavor was also very much to my liking. The dan dan noodles boasted a rich sesame flavor. These are dishes I definitely want to order again. Overall, everything was delicious. I am sure I will visit again soon. The cost performance is great, which is appreciated. Thank you for the meal! It seems that since the restaurant has just opened, both the kitchen and the dining area staff were plentiful. Despite that, their operations were solid, which I found impressive. Now is the best time to go!

I entered a new Chinese restaurant that opened in the spot of the Asian restaurant above Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station. The menu outside looked appealing, so I decided to give it a try. The layout of the place was similar to the previous one, with a spacious area at the back featuring large and small tables, along with a buffet section displaying various dishes. There were several lunch menus available, but I ordered the 【Mapo Tofu】 for 980 yen and the 【Spicy Soy Sauce Chicken Cold Noodles】 for 1280 yen, which arrived in about five minutes. While waiting, I visited the buffet corner, which offered Oolong tea, cold sautéed vegetables, egg soup, shrimp congee, and rice, and I helped myself to a bit of everything. The Mapo Tofu had a rich and deep flavor, dominated by the sweet bean paste initially, which then revealed a pleasant spiciness from the spicy bean paste. I loved this type of Mapo Tofu that emphasized umami over heat, and it paired perfectly with white rice. As for the cold noodles, they turned out to be "Yodare Chicken Cold Noodles." The sauce had a nice balance of sourness and umami from the soy sauce, with restrained spiciness that clung well to the cold noodles and spread out its flavors. The chicken was moist and juicy, making it delicious as a Yodare chicken dish—one of the best I’ve ever had in Tokyo, I would say. The dishes at the buffet corner were all exquisitely seasoned and delicious enough to stand alone as individual dishes. The pickled vegetables paired well with both the Mapo Tofu and the congee, making the buffet a well-crafted experience. In particular, the congee had an amazing shrimp flavor and just the right saltiness that made you want to go back for seconds—it's so good that you could almost have a meal just with the congee and the pickled vegetables. Overall, I found the food quality and cost performance to be quite high, making it a great restaurant. I look forward to coming back at night to enjoy it with some drinks.
