"Balinise Cafe Pagii" located at 7-3-26 Minami 14 Jonishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. During a 5-day stay in Sapporo for the ski season, this was the only restaurant we dined out at. It's a Balinese cuisine restaurant that my daughter and I love. The restaurant is run by a ski coach who we visit every time we are in Sapporo. The couple who run the restaurant are passionate about Bali and used to visit every year before the pandemic. Now, it's difficult to visit, but enjoying their food brings back the Bali vibes. The fresh spring rolls are amazing and go well with beer. My daughter had the non-spicy Ayam Goreng, fried chicken with rice and cabbage special set. They can adjust the spiciness for those who are not fond of spicy food or for kids. Due to ingredient availability, it's recommended to make a reservation. Thank you to @balinese_cafe_pagi_ for the delicious meal. Looking forward to visiting again next year or next month. [Menu] Non-alcoholic beer, Coca-Cola Zero, fresh spring rolls, Ayam Goreng, Balinese-style sashimi platter, fried potatoes, Balinese-style chilled tofu. #HokkaidoGourmet #IndonesianCuisine #BalineseCuisine #SapporoGourmet #SapporoFood #IndonesianFood #FreshSpringRolls #BalineseCafePagii #TofuChampuru

I ordered the Cambingoren, a Balinese spiced stir-fry with lamb. It was not too spicy and suited the taste of Japanese people. I ate while sweating, maybe because there was no air conditioning. Feeling hot, I wanted something cold to drink, so I tried to order an iced cafe au lait, but they said they couldn't make it. I ended up ordering a guava juice instead. I wish they could have the basics available all the time.

This winter season, during my one-week stay in Sapporo, I dined out only once at a restaurant. Whenever I come to Sapporo, I always make sure to visit this place run by a lovely couple, where you can enjoy home-cooked meals. The couple has a deep love for Bali, and used to visit there every year before the pandemic. Now it's difficult to visit, but just by enjoying their food, you can get a taste of Bali. The fresh spring rolls are amazing, perfect to enjoy with a beer. There are other delicious options on the menu that make it hard to choose, but when I want rice, I always go for the Nasi Goreng with extra spiciness! Somehow, spiciness increases my appetite. They can adjust the spiciness for those who don't like it or for children. Due to ingredient availability, it's recommended to make a reservation in advance. Thank you @balinese_cafe_pagi_ for the wonderful meal.

Today's dinner (3/13) at "Balinese Cafe Pagii" in Sapporo. When skiing in Sapporo, it's a must to visit the restaurant owned by the ski coach. My daughter always orders the same thing! This time, she had the fried chicken set and potato fries, and she finished it all. I tried the "Nasi Goreng" with extra spicy, which I haven't had in a while. I think I can handle even spicier next time! Thank you as always. And thank you for the ski lessons this season. Looking forward to next season. Thank you for the meal.
Menu:
- Balinese-style spring rolls
- Tempeh
- Kuntan Goreng (customized for my daughter)
- Ayam Goreng (customized for my daughter)
- Special Nasi Goreng
- Balinese-style Carpaccio (with Sambal Matah sauce)
- Shrimp crackers

Today's dinner was at "Balinese Cafe Pagi" where my daughter's ski coach works. We have been relying on him every year since she was 4 years old, and we visit this restaurant every time we come to Hokkaido. The couple who run the restaurant are big fans of Bali and truly love Bali. The food tastes just like it does in Bali, and there is a wide variety of dishes. Since we can't travel overseas right now, eating Bali food makes us feel like we have visited Bali or Indonesia even just a little bit. Highly recommended, everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal!
Menu:
- Ayam Goreng (fried chicken)
- Rice (with brown rice)
- French fries (special menu for my daughter?)
- Mixed satay
- Tofu champuru
- Cold tofu with sambal mata sauce
- Fresh spring rolls (highly recommended!)
- Bali Hai cocktail

2020.5 Although takeout is available, I decided to dine in and ordered the special Nasi Goreng for 900 yen. There were only a few people in the restaurant, enjoying a small drinking party. I sat at the counter by myself, wanting to warm up my still chilly Sapporo body with a spicy meal. I was craving for spicy fried rice with a fried egg on top. If it were my usual self, I would have probably chatted with the owner. I finished the meal and still have my eye on other items on the menu. I'll come back next time to try them out. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I live nearby due to personal circumstances in 2019. My sister and I are exploring together. This is the third restaurant we've visited. The shop is located in a position where you can see the outside of the shop from the previous Fish Bird shop. It's close by. The exterior looks a bit intimidating, but the inside of the shop is clean and has a good atmosphere with nice music. The previous customers were a group of women talking about their memories of a trip to Bali. For drinks, I ordered a Kir and my sister ordered a Cassis soda juice. She said she wants to try the juice. Since we were already full, we ordered a vegetable salad with cucumbers (morokyu). It's easy to eat and delicious! I really want to eat Nasi Goreng. Finally, we ordered Balinese coffee. It's a type where you put hot water into coffee powder without using a filter and wait for the sediment to settle. It's a delicious and easy-to-drink coffee. For dessert, we had banana fritters. It was a nice way to end our meal. Ahh, I really want to eat Nasi Goreng. Thank you for the meal!

This is a rare Balinese restaurant in Hokkaido. They serve Bintang and Bali Hai beer. You can enjoy authentic Balinese dishes like tempeh. The flavors are slightly adjusted for Japanese taste. It's nice that you can drink during the day! The atmosphere of the restaurant is Southeast Asian-like, with various small items placed around, making it fun.

A restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Indonesian cuisine from Bali. Cheers with a Bintang beer, a light pilsner type beer. - Gado Gado (boiled vegetables with peanut sauce) A warm vegetable salad with a coconut-like tropical peanut sauce. - Soto Ayam (chicken and glass noodle soup) A soup with plenty of vegetables, chicken, and glass noodles. The clear soup has a very gentle flavor. - Nasi Goreng (Balinese fried rice) Spicy but not too hot, a taste that suits the Japanese palate. Although it has the typical spiciness and flavor of Southeast Asian cuisine, it is easy to eat. Everything I tried was delicious. You can have a hearty meal for less than 2000 yen per person. Fantastic value for money.

The appearance of this restaurant doesn't give away how delicious the Balinese cuisine is inside. From the outside, you can't tell what kind of restaurant it is, and it doesn't really make you want to go in. But once you open the door, you realize it's an Asian restaurant. It's not fancy, but there's Balinese music playing and various Indonesian goods and trinkets are displayed. It has a cozy and homey feel. Looking at the menu, there are plenty of options and everything looks delicious. When the cooking starts, a spicy aroma fills the restaurant. The smell alone makes you sure that this place must be good. The dishes are brought to the table, and they are all delicious! The Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng, and the unique Martabak that I tried for the first time are all the best I've had at Asian restaurants in Sapporo. The owner may be quiet, but you can feel his kindness. I just want to try everything on the menu because everything I've eaten so far is so tasty!

This restaurant serves delicious food no matter what you order. It's so good that it's hard to control your appetite. You wouldn't expect such tasty Asian cuisine from the outside appearance. There are a few Thai restaurants in the city, but I don't think there are any Balinese restaurants. Furthermore, there are very few places that cover almost all Indonesian cuisine like this one. Honestly, I haven't been to Bali to taste the authentic flavors, so I can't say if it's the same, but everything I've tried here is delicious. Instead of debating, I recommend trying the food for yourself at least once.

Lately, I feel like I've been coming here once a month. It seems that I have a taste for the spiciness of Southeast Asia. I visited in the afternoon. The wife had some errands to run, so the husband took care of me by himself. I couldn't decide when to eat the Gado Gado (warm vegetable salad), so I went with the Nasi Goreng today. The husband cooked the rice with high heat, almost like in Chinese cuisine. I realized that I hadn't asked about the spiciness at all. "Oh, I'm fine with it being spicy," I said, with an unnecessary comment... (laughs) I had been focusing on conquering the side dishes recently, so it had been a while since I had the No. 1 Nasi Goreng at this restaurant! Let's dig in! Oh, it's spicy! It's sweet and spicy, but unlike the last time I had it, the spiciness hit me right away instead of gradually. "Did you make it spicier than usual?" I asked. "Oh, was it spicy?" the husband replied. "It feels spicier than the last time I had it," I said. "Oh, I might have added too much spice," the husband chuckled. What a joker! (laughs) But it's delicious. Water and coconut water go well with it. Today, I chatted with the husband about some light-hearted stories from overseas. He mentioned how when he brought sushi to a friend's home party in America, it was treated as an appetizer for some reason. (laughs) I secretly enjoy hearing such stories from abroad. Oh, and I was invited to a concert event on the 12th (Saturday), a clarinet quintet this time! I made a reservation just in case. I hope I don't have to work that day! Thank you for the meal♪

I used it for lunch. There is no parking lot, so I went to a nearby coin parking lot. <Ayam Goreng set meal half> (¥550) - Fried chicken - Potato salad - Shredded cabbage and carrot salad - Rice (red in color, with small red beans-like items inside, a bit firm) all on one plate. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The unique spicy flavor is delicious. <XXX set meal> I forgot the name (¥900) also served on one plate - Simmered chicken wings - Tofu? Thick fried tofu? - Curry - Stir-fried green papaya and carrot - Shredded vegetable salad - Stir-fried green vegetables and beans - Soft-boiled egg - (and one more item) - Rice (red in color, with small red beans-like items inside, a bit firm) This set meal had a variety of small dishes and was enjoyable. The simmered chicken wings had a fluffy coconut flavor and were very delicious. The meat separated easily from the bone. It was not just spicy, but had a unique taste. I wanted to eat more of it. <Fresh spring rolls> (¥500) filled with shredded carrots, lettuce, pork, and cheese. There was sauce in a small dish, but I ate it as is because there was sauce inside the roll. It was my first time eating fresh spring rolls. The skin was chewy. <Coconut pudding> (¥250) topped with whipped cream and shredded coconut. It was a bit sweet. I went to eat Nasi Goreng, but ended up not eating it. However, the green papaya was interesting, and the simmered chicken wings were delicious, so I am satisfied. There are many other menu items that caught my eye, so I will definitely visit again.
