"On a holiday, I wandered around Otaru by myself, looking for a place to eat. After walking around, I came across a ramen shop called Goban Naikan in the arcade, which I hadn't visited in a long time. There was another option, but it was full, so I decided to go to this old-fashioned shop. As soon as I entered, I was told that it would take more than 20 minutes for the food to be ready. I agreed and sat at the counter. The shop had a counter with 4 seats and 3 tables for 4 people each. I ordered the 'Ankake Yakisoba for 900 yen' without hesitation. The ankake dish also had 'fried soba' on the menu, but after some consideration, I chose the yakisoba. There were 4 groups of customers ahead of me, with a total of 8 people, and it seemed like the chef, who appeared to be of continental descent, was taking his time with each dish. The TV was showing the Prime Minister talking about his vision for the upcoming new year, which seemed far-fetched. After waiting patiently, the ankake yakisoba was finally served after about 20 minutes. The dish was topped with pork belly, onions, shimeji mushrooms, bamboo shoots, carrots, green peas, wood ear mushrooms, shrimp, and bean sprouts, offering a variety of ingredients. The noodles were crispy on the outside, giving off a delicious aroma. The sauce was not too heavy, with a subtle and unique flavor that made it enjoyable. Although I wasn't particularly impressed at the beginning, by the end of the meal, I found myself saying 'Oh, that was delicious.' The taste was so well-balanced that I could enjoy it without getting tired of it, even after multiple bites. I have actually visited this place a few times, but I have only tried the ankake yakisoba. Next time, I would like to try their ramen. Thank you for the meal."

- No smoking - You can use the following coupons!! → Hokkaido Certified Store Support Coupon → Childcare Support Coupon → Hokkaido Support Coupon (National Travel Support) - Mini Ramen ¥580 → Recommended for when you're feeling a little hungry♪ → Choose from miso, salt, soy sauce, or old-fashioned flavors - A town Chinese restaurant that has been around since the old days on the Kitadori near Otaru Station - You can enjoy the gentle ramen of old Otaru (not the trendy, rich, heavy kind) - Fifty Ban is full of nostalgic memories. I remember being taken care of at the old store when I was a child. When I close my eyes, the vivid memories of that time come to mind. The mama-san was so kind. I loved the ramen made by the old man back then! From the side of Ekimae Street on the Kitadori... fruit shop → Fifty Ban → clothing store → Midoriya, was that the lineup? It's really nostalgic... I think I almost conquered the Fifty Ban menu. I entered because I wanted to eat ramen, but... the good smell of fried rice!! I ended up wanting to eat fried rice. Anyway! - Mini Miso Ramen ¥560 I asked for firm noodles♪ First, the soup! Hmm! Garlic! Surprisingly fragrant! It's a light and gentle miso flavor, but the aftertaste has a garlic flavor. But I like garlic, so it's not bad! Noodles! Yes! Slightly firm, not too soft♪ Yellow with a slight wave, not curly or straight noodles. These noodles might go well with the light soup here. The stir-fried vegetables are crispy and delicious♪ I'm not a big fan of ramen with lots of ingredients, so this amount of vegetables is just right! There's a hint of pork and bamboo shoots too♪ I turned the bowl upside down, mixed it, added a little pepper. Actually, I remember there used to be GABAN's white pepper(?) here. Now there are two types, coarsely ground black and finely ground white. I wonder if white pepper goes better with ramen? If it's miso ramen, maybe more people prefer shichimi or ichimi over pepper. I added chili oil towards the end! Not bad! It's different from the modern, research-intensive ramen, more like the gentle, light miso ramen of old Otaru. The mini ramen is also available, and it's understandable why it's popular with the local seniors. It's just the right size! I'm happy with the price of ¥560, it's easy on the wallet♪ Ramen can be expensive nowadays, so I'm grateful♪ Personally, if I were to eat miso ramen in Hokkaido, I'd prefer the yellow, curly old-fashioned egg noodles. I love garlic, but I prefer it to be on the table for flavor change rather than being heavily infused in the soup. The lingering garlic aftertaste in my mouth is quite strong even after eating here. I love garlic, so it's fine! I might have wanted to try a miso with a little less garlic and a hint of ginger, but well, I love garlic, so it's okay! Next time, I might want to try a different flavor! I'm curious about the fried rice too! If you feel like smoking after eating, there's an ashtray next to the pachinko parlor across the street!

I went to Goban Nakanakan for lunch after a long time. Their business hours are from 11am to 3pm, so it's been hard to find the right timing to visit. However, this time I was able to go at the perfect time! I originally planned to go somewhere else for lunch, but due to the bad weather, I suddenly felt like having Chinese food. I decided to go for my favorite dish, Abura Soba, instead of ramen. The simple Abura Soba with seaweed, egg, chashu, and green onions is my favorite, especially when I pour lots of vinegar on it. It was delicious!

Today, I was wandering around the area near the main street. The ramen shop I was aiming for was full, and the Chinese restaurant had its usual line, so I gave up and decided to try Goban-san, a place I had never been to before. I was drawn to the old-fashioned ramen, but the ankake yakisoba also looked good. I'll go with the ankake yakisoba. I ordered the ankake yakisoba (860 yen). I noticed there was a 30 yen discount coupon on the Tabelog page while writing this review. Too bad. The sauce was thick and the portion was generous. It even had shrimp and green peas. Green peas are rare! The thin noodles were well-cooked and just the way I like them. The sauce and ingredients were delicious, and the flavor was just right. It was even better than I expected! The price is a bit high, but taste-wise, I'm completely satisfied! I'll definitely go back. Thank you for the meal!

When it comes to Otaru, people often think of sushi, narutoya, kamae, LeTao...and also ankake yakisoba! Although I have visited Otaru many times, I have never tried ankake yakisoba before, but this time I finally had the chance! There were three restaurants closed on the day I visited, but this one was open so I decided to go without hesitation. There were many customers waiting outside, so I wondered if it was popular or if it was the only place serving ankake yakisoba. After waiting for 45 minutes, the hot ankake yakisoba finally arrived! It had the usual ingredients like bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, carrots, pork, shrimp, and wood ear mushrooms. The taste, however, was quite mild. It seemed like a place where regular elderly customers come, perhaps because the flavors are gentle on the body. My friend who ordered half a ramen and fried rice also found the ramen soup to be lacking in flavor. The fried rice was okay in comparison. The portion size was good, but overall, the flavors were too mild for a town Chinese restaurant. As a fan of strong flavors, I was disappointed. I'm sorry to the staff at the restaurant.

Visited an arcade street for the first time in October 2019. There are two longstanding Chinese restaurants on this street. One is the always popular and crowded "Keien" during lunchtime. And closer to Otaru Station is "Goban Saikan". In Otaru, they are promoting the town with their "Ankake Yakisoba". As a fan of "Ankake Yakisoba", I am curious, but as a "Chahanist", I am torn on the menu. Since I will be visiting Otaru frequently, I will take my time exploring the options. The "Ankake Yakisoba" is priced at 860 yen, which is generally considered high. Aside from ramen, the "Chahan" is priced at 820 yen, and the "Gomoku Chahan" is 920 yen. Isn't it a bit expensive? (laughs) This is my second time trying "Ankake Yakisoba" in Otaru after "Keien". The ingredients include onions, napa cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, 2 shrimp, bamboo shoots, carrots, and pork. The green peas add color. The noodles are thin and well-cooked. The portion is a bit small for the price. The flavor is quite mild, not too salty, but I wish there were pickled vegetables or red pickled ginger. I am curious to try the Chahan, but I am hesitant. Choosing the next menu item will be a dilemma.

Today, I came to Otaru to go fishing early in the morning when it was still dark. I was on the boat fishing until around noon, so I am very hungry. I will have lunch in Otaru and head back. I tried the Otaru B-grade local gourmet "Ankake Yakisoba" at the second restaurant (I was just at Katsuraen earlier lol)!! However... I was captivated by the menu's Wonton Noodles... and ended up ordering the Wonton Noodles (lol there were so many wontons!! They covered the surface of the bowl♡♡). It was very delicious with a light soy sauce flavor! I will definitely come back again lol.

I had the "Gomoku Yakisoba" (with thick sauce, 830 yen). I have liked it since I was a child, and it was delicious even without the nostalgia of travel memories. The gentle sauce flavor went well with my tired stomach from traveling. If you go to Otaru, be sure to try the yakisoba with thick sauce.

The flavor was too light. I wish the filling had more punch, but it was still delicious.

This is a Chinese restaurant located in the Otaru Shotengai shopping street (Central Town Shotengai), about a 3-minute walk from JR Otaru Station on the Hakodate Main Line. The nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa era in this arcade is reminiscent of the Happy Road in Ooyama! I'm not here for sightseeing in Otaru, let alone for work (lol). I'm just here to fish for flounder! On days when ships can't sail from Otaru Port, I have a whole day free, so I'm quite bored! When I entered the restaurant, there were 6 counter seats and 8 two-person table seats. On the tables, there were condiments like chili pepper, soy sauce, pepper, coarse pepper, vinegar, chili oil, toothpicks, menu, disposable chopsticks (tissues are available on the bookshelf). I almost got tempted to start drinking at lunch, but I had another place I wanted to go to, so I had to hold off. Everyone says that alcohol tastes better when you drink it while others are working! I'm such a bad guy (¬д¬) But when everyone else is having fun drinking, I'm reluctantly working, so it balances out. I ordered the Ankake Yakisoba (830 yen), which is Otaru's soul food. The noodles were thin and curly, slightly on the firm side, making it a bit challenging to pick up with chopsticks, adding to the charm of the dining experience! The dish was filled with ingredients such as pork, shrimp, cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, onions, asparagus, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, carrots, shimeji mushrooms, and western hot peppers. The hot sauce had a slightly strong soy sauce flavor, so it might be better to share and enjoy it as a side dish while drinking with friends. There was an Ankake (ANK) map posted inside the restaurant. It had detailed information, so if you're interested, it's a good idea to take a picture or write it down. Alternatively, you can check the link below for information on the Ankake map and Ankake Yakisoba. Thank you for the meal (⌒▽⌒)ノ Otaru City Hall Otaru Ankake Yakisoba Guard Headquarters Office.

The ankake yakisoba was surprisingly light and delicious, with thin noodles that had a nice firm texture. I finished it all in no time. The gyoza was juicy with flavorful meat and crispy vegetables.
