I dropped by around 8 pm on the weekend. I had tried to visit three times before, but it was closed or full, so I was turned away. This time, when I peeked in, there were already 2 groups of 4 people each, so I was able to get in. Thanks to the reduced number of people due to the request for self-restraint from going out during the third wave of the coronavirus. This place is a restaurant that boasts of Muroran Yakitori. Muroran Yakitori style consists of pork, onions, and Western mustard. I sat at the counter and started with a Perfect Black Label draft beer (¥500 excluding tax). Perfect is a draft beer developed by Sapporo Beer for business purposes, which clears three "c"s at a high level: creamy, clear, and cold. Well, it's certainly delicious. For the dishes, I ordered the following: appetizer - pickled vegetables (¥300 excluding tax), pickled herring (¥450 excluding tax), pork liver with sauce (¥125 excluding tax), two pork tenderloin with sauce (¥300 excluding tax), chicken skin with salt (¥125 excluding tax), chicken meatball with sauce (¥250 excluding tax), President Shiitake Mushroom Grill (¥250 excluding tax), quail egg skewer grill (¥200 excluding tax), and grilled green onion (¥200 excluding tax). For additional drinks, I ordered a Perfect Classic (¥500 excluding tax) and a Rock-style Smoky Sweet Potato Shochu (¥450 excluding tax). The pickled herring is mixed with roe and koji, making it a sweet dish. The sauce for the yakitori at this restaurant is also sweet, overall. Everyone has their preferences, but I personally prefer dishes with a soy sauce-based seasoning that is not sweet, so I found it a bit itchy. The Perfect Classic was creamy and I felt it was tastier than usual. The pork liver had a sweet sauce with Western mustard. This mustard is seriously spicy. If you put too much, your nose will tingle. Be careful! The liver itself is not that fresh and is cooked almost well-done. The recommended pork tenderloin at the restaurant. It is the epitome of Muroran Yakitori with pork, onions, and Western mustard. The meat is tough, making it a bit hard to chew. If you like sweet sauces, you will be satisfied. The chicken skin is just salted. There is also Western mustard here. The chicken meatball comes with a yolk. This meatball lacks juiciness. I think meatballs are best when they are so juicy that the meat juices overflow. The shiitake mushrooms were served with salt. The salt was sweet. The large shiitake mushroom made me sweat a bit, but the umami of guanylic acid was lacking. The Smoky Sweet Potato Shochu was easy to drink due to its mild taste. Finally, the grilled green onion and quail egg. The green onion was average. I had high hopes for the delicious Hokkaido vegetables, but... The restaurant's specialty quail eggs are boiled eggs grilled with the shell on and eaten as is. I came for this. I was expecting the surprisingly soft shell to be delicious, but it was not, and a thin shell remained in my mouth, making for a strangely mysterious ending. If you get used to the sweet sauce and spicy Western mustard, you might enjoy it more. Thank you for the meal.
