After checking the Tomakomai site today, I visited this hot spring for the first time in a while. I parked my car in front of the building and went inside. A young guy greeted me, "Are you over 65? Then it's 500 yen!" His attitude was not very welcoming at all! I was so shocked that I couldn't even bring myself to scold him. If it were an old man from Abashiri or a tough guy from Otaru, they would have been more assertive, I'm sure! There were no other customers. The hot spring is simple, with colorless and transparent water containing a lot of sodium, which warms you up nicely. There is no outdoor bath. It seems like a place for locals to socialize. After getting out of the bath, I bought a canned coffee and headed back to Tomakomai site, crossing the pass again. They sure are dedicated to their work (laughs).

After a long time, I went to a hot spring and felt excited (maybe because I'm getting old?). It's really nice! I pressed the button, but nothing happened. It's just a small community center with daily necessities and food. It serves as the local convenience store (or maybe a small shop?). There is also a rest area available (although you can't stay overnight). The bath is small but has natural spring water. I entered and chatted with locals, it was quite a blend. It is used as a local public bath and is good for a refreshing break for the mind. I will come again.
